I really dislike how they're trying to sell "no longer fucking you" as a selling point.
My guess is that the whole Adam Orth thing didn't phase them much because they didn't see the whole 24 hours requirement being the same as "always online," or all the restrictions as DRM when they still allowed (sharply limited) resales and the like. I think they genuinely believed there was nothing wrong with their approach, and that assuming they were being dishonest actually gives them too much credit.
That frightens me.
YOOOOOOOOO. DONE.Sorry, I'm not Rihanna.
Hryb said he'll embark on a cross-country tour this month, making stops in U.S. cities to similarly assuage concerns about the next-gen console just like he did at last week's GameStop Expo.
You mean when they said they'd like to bring back the GOOD policies that they proposed???
Is that real?
because this seems pathetic as hell.
Larry is not even a gamer. Please.
Those pre-order numbers and surveys must really be nowhere near where Microsoft want them to be. That's the only sort of feedback they understand.
Why? Europe and Oceania are getting free games.Hey Microsoft, come back to us when you haven't spent $400 million on a U.S. only franchise instead of spending it on at least 10 games we can ALL enjoy.
Why? Europe and Oceania are getting free games.
"We're very focused on what is right for gamers. Everybody at Xbox is a gamer. It's not like we just show up, do our work and go home. We want to make this the best game system that you are going to own for the next 10 years."
Yup, I rather have the old system.
Wow, pre orders must be dire if they have to go touring the country at this point in the consoles lifetime.

I can't believe how much they have spectacularly fucked this launch up. They currently make the Sony execs who launched the PS3 look like pr geniuses.
They only had to make a price focused faster 360 and they would have won. They completely lost the plot.
Hyperbole much? Sold out pre-orders in almost every major chain flies in the face of what you wrote. Ever think they are doing an apology tour simply because they want to change the opinions some people have.Wow, pre orders must be dire if they have to go touring the country at this point in the consoles lifetime.

I feel alienated with by this. I've been relaxing more and more about the DRM shit they tried to pull, but now trying to spin that they designed the Xbox One to do all the things they list while some of those things are the result of the 180 they had to do is just insulting.
Uh that's not true at all. Sony had an expensive machine with no seriously compelling software till 2009. Sony was saved earlier on just by the extreme popularity of the ps2. Sony turned it around and had a change if heart on things which is culminating in the near flawless announcement to launch of the ps4. The Xbox 360 (if it didn't die on you) was a way better console till the last few years and then the Sony first party machine stomped microsofts software support.Sony seemed humbled very quickly actually. But they really didn't have much to fix besides the price point - which like Microsoft, they are kind of stuck with.
Wtf, really? There are people out thare that liked the DRMBox?
I thought they were just being facetious with those silly remarks...![]()
Since Gaf is wrong 99.5 % of the time, I expect everything said in this thread to be the exact opposite.
We have to realize that there are some hardcore fans out there trying their darnedest to justify the DRM situation because of their love for Xbox just like people tried to justify the $600 price of PS3. Case in point: you can't.
Exactly. For some people, there is nothing MS could announce that they couldn't justify to themselves. Thankfully these people are in the minority. We have to realize that there are some hardcore fans out there trying their darnedest to justify the DRM situation because of their love for Xbox just like people tried to justify the $600 price of PS3. Case in point: you can't.

you guys are going OT, but all my games installed without need a disc, could shop around without being forced to buy DD only from xbox store and I could still trade them in to gamestop? Yea give me the old system.
I kinda wish the Xb1 and PS4 were launching on the same day. Imagine the chaos in the queues, haha.
This, too many people seem personally invested in wanting the console to fail. It won't. To people that ditched MS after DRM gate enjoy your PS4 and great games. But the constant need to portray the Xbox One as the worst thing to ever happen is getting old. You can barely have discussions in X1 related threads without them getting derailed in the first 10 or so posts.Lol at all the angry people over a video game console. Xbox One is going to be fine either way. Apology or not.
I can't wait to get mine at launch. Also LOL at the guy who said you can't preorder consoles, that you need to go inside a store and see it to buy it.
Microsoft is essentially saying "We're so sorry that you just don't get how good it would have been", still not understanding why their new takes on shit was awful, but instead saying "well, FINE, obviously you're not ready for it. Excuuuse me, Princess!"
Staying far away from this console.
