The Odin FATE appeared in the south shroud (Balmung) and it was madness. I went to see it just for the fun of it. Everyone amassed there shouting for everyone to hide their pets because the lag was starting to get awful lol

On an unrelated topic, what's the best way to get company seals? I just got the Chocobo quest. FATEs and GC leves?

Fates are the fastest if you can get in a group. Running Hatilali(sp?) will net you about 1k seals too.

So the server maintenance worked then.

If anyone is on Hyperion and is having trouble finding a LS or FC drop me a line I'll get you in a group I probably should have mentioned that awhile ago. My in game name is Eight Corova just drop me a line.

Most have to realize that FATEs will become your mainstay leveling mechanic for any job after your first if use up all your main mission storyline and side-quests on your first job

I don't get it how some of you find it so boring

I enjoy the hell out of it, it's always like a chase to get XP and get seals

My mindset is get there ASAP, get that XP ASAP, get party members to hit gold so they enjoy the benefits

I'm going after that level 50 crown, will take me a while, but I will get there

Always be in party, say/yell/shout near where the group of people gather for rest/sanctuary, and join and go at it

Most don't realize, you get extra XP by killing mobs of FATE, if your party members kill them, even if you didn't do jack shit, you will get rewarded the XP and chain #
In the end, you'll also get rewarded the bonus chunk of XP and reward of seals if you get bronze/silver/gold

Some say Return of the King FATE Costa del Sol (huge bomb on the beach) FATE doesn't give you much bonus XP, this is true, but for close to 10 minutes you annihilate so many bombs, your screen should be pure yellow #'s of experience

Always party up, light party or full party, add randoms if you have too
Join other peoples party, the end goal is the same, get as much XP as possible
Learn the FATE system of what the FATE requires, the faster you learn, the better for you
Gathering cores/boxes/parts for FATES can be beneficial 2 ways some can kill the mobs, and the others collect, killing mobs nets you XP for party, while say a WHM or SMN can go gather their items rather than try to fight it out
Learning FATE objectives is the key to produce efficient XP gain

Learn the name of FATE, it's objective, and location
Pop the map, see which on it is and just go after it

I mostly know 95% of the FATEs in this game now and their mechanics, the ones I'm missing are in those areas where most don't venture or the very low level ones in areas where I didn't start out (starter cities)

How do you guys name your retainers. I named my Chocobo after my cat, which was easy enough, now I'm having trouble with the retainers.

My male Roe is named Goodies
My female Miq is named Chesty

Had such a blast today. Did my level 30 lass quest which was epic, then ran Haukke Manor which so far has been my favorite. After that I unlocked the Chocobo companion and finished off by becoming a Bard. I haven't been so smitten with a game in so long.

Might log back on later to make a push as my guild nears Rank 4.

hate eastern la noscea. i'm just trying to do quests... but then I get dragged around on the FATE sprees and get nothing done lol.

why is there so many darn fates here?

I figured I would do Haukke Manor for fun on my SCH. Tank was the worst. My healer fairy and myself tanked more of the dungeon than they did. They would tank one enemy, Eos and me tanked the rest. Once they finished killing their mob they would run off for chests while the rest of the party cleaned up. DD must have been terrible too since Eos held enmity on one of the 2 basement bosses until the end. Managed to get to the end with only one death on a 2 pack pull but it was really the sloppiest run ever. Nobody raged so I guess it had that going for it lol.

You sir, are a true hero. Thanks!

Now, I feel like I should have found it on my own, but I didn't expect important instructions to be buried in a news post from 2 weeks ago. Oh well!

Hey its Square Enix :p But yeah, it should've been stickied to the front of the lodestone if anything.

The music for the Titan battle is unbelivably good.

Please tell me this takes place in an underground arena with tons of Kobold on the side cheering on Titan.

EDIT: I hope everyone isnt just going to end up reading guides on how to beat stuff before diving in. Kinda takes the fun out of it imo. Better to learn from experience....then maybe if you still cant beat them, then consult a guide.

Having to grind FATEs for like 4-5 levels straight is so freaking boring.

That and being in ugly Northern Thanalan is melting my brain. lol

So sounds like Nonlegacy is actually leading in the race for endgame aside from BG. But they're madmen. . . Specially tho, Nonlegacy EU is around turn4 of coil now. BG also just hit that. Legacy folks are taking it easy and enjoying things since we're all 50ed up. But nonlegacy are racing to be first to control the market and beyond. . . Hilarious.

Finally got my Ifrit weapon with the the help of Arturi and Zam from the FC! Feels good.

By the way, is there somewhere you can add a character description in game? I'd like to put my gaf name there. I'm Ella Wolfhart in game.

Grave where you been? Haven't seen you in the game today?

Be on later, resting a bit, grabbing dinner then do a marathon for PLD 50 and Finish main story

Gave myself a day to rest and not burn myself out

Been going hard since Phase 4, also Sunday = NFL, so time might be split

Yes it does. It has kobolds in the cutscene.

I never read guides.

i actually got scolded by someone and they said, "a real player looks up guides to know what's gonna happen and what to do". That's why we lose a lot of health and come close to death.

I said screw that.

Alright, headed to Best Buy now. I promised that if I found copies I'd be able to sell codes at cost. Last time I was there a few days ago they still had PC copies available.

I don't get it. Care to explain? I tried searching but didn't find anything

When you log off/exit game, if you did it in an Inn or Sanctuary, a half crescent moon underneath your bar(always the Sanctuary areas, the ones with blue crystals)

You gain rested XP

This a bonus to add to your XP bar, so when you log in next time, the rested XP will be a bonus applied to your XP count

If you kill a mob you will get 50% bonus on top of the XP you will already be getting, if it is secondary class, not your main you will gain 100%+

It varies on mobs too

When we had downtime from Phase 4 to Early access, most who logged out in an Inn/Sanctuary gained almost 4.5 levels worth of rested XP
The rested XP is burned on killing mobs/FATEs, quest don't take any rested XP

Gathering + Crafting also can use rested XP and get stacked superbly to give you close to 200%+ on each item crafted or gathered

Thanks. I understand that part.. But the faint line itself is a bit confusing to me. Is it that I get the rested xp bonus (eg 50% on top of normal xp) until the real xp line catches up to the faint line?

I noticed hitting boss FATE's with debuffs and status effects seems to help in the way of EXP gains. I was getting over 11K against Coeurlking near the QuarryMill with ease.

Kinda burnt myself out atm and I really slowed down these past few days. Reached level 46 and all that is left to level is FATE parties, which after 1 hour of dealing with the zerg is enough to put me to sleep... I have no idea why SE could not have added more questing content for the 45+ areas. I never thought I would say this but christ do I miss mindless quests, as they are far superior than this mind numbing fate system that is currently in game. I don't see myself leveling another class anytime soon when i reach 50 if fate spams are still the best method to level.

i don't know how you guys don't have enough quests. maybe run a few dungeons? i ran dungeons every few game hours and have now plenty of high level quests left for other classes.

SE really needs to do something about this game. It just does not run as smoothly as it should. Especially on PS3. In large, populated areas, characters just don't appear, commands are slow to react, enemies disappear, etc. I'm in the lv 40-50 range locations now, and this disappearing act is too much for me.

People ditching Ifrit HM if there's no pally or AOE LB. Minor inconvenience but a little silly at the same time.

The Eruption stunning is very hard to do without a dedicated PLD, even with perfect execution you can still mess it up and the whole party wipes.

The AoE LB makes killing the nails dramatically easier.

In a PUG, where the odds are already stacked against you, I don't see any good reason why you wouldn't leave an Ifrit HM if you didn't have these things. Wasting time wiping over and over again benefits no one.
