imo the FC could use some free space, a good amount of people in it probably aren't even part of gaf anyway
I could use that space. I'm not in the gaf fc yet.

Shouts are terrible... But SQEX needs to do something about gilseller bots now. Getting a lot in Shout chat and I even get tells now.
I'm a newbie on Sargatanas, and other than all of the GAF FC being at the end of the game, they are still pretty helpful and I haven't had problems finding my level players to do dungeons.
Its actually probably better than new servers.
Sounds like I should have picked Sargatanas even despite the Legacy status. I picked Leviathan, but literally no one I know is on Leviathan.
I have my archer to level 32 now and my puglist to 12 but I seem to have run out of quests. Quickest way to get to 15 on the Pug and become a Bard? Do I need to do another quest to become a Bard?

Did you do your hunt log yet ?

GAF guild on ultros isn't much different. I've already seen Jew jokes, "gay" pejorative use and piracy justification.
Don't get me wrong, it's not non-stop. It just sticks out because when I've called people in the guild on it, I've heard "everyone does it" and "stop white knighting"
Sounds like officers not enforcing rules and people just being insensitive. In short, the guild needs to be managed better.
I kind of hope they don't wait a year to do the first census. I'd like to see a launch census. Though, hopefully unlike with XI they'll do a race census, which FFXI stopped doing in 2008.
This was the last known FFXI race breakdown.

I'd probably say based on my observations that the balance is probably close to this. Maybe more Mithra in XIV since there's a male option.

so how are monks?
lvling up a puglist a bit, and kinda digging the form stuff. does it stay awesome?
Are they formidable dps? don't see them much in duty finder.
Sounds familiar. You play on FFXI on Fenrir by any chance? It could be worse, you could have talked to and convinced multiple friends/groups to all play on Hyperion, then had one of the people you want to play with the most be locked out from making a character on Hyperion since before launch.

Man, Stone veil gives crazy good XP. First dungeon I've seen that gives so much. Getting 1.5k a mob
Here's a stats page that I think is up to date: http://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/AttributesIs there a resource site that tells me how to allocate my stat points for all classes?
Or can anyone let me know what stat points I should put into my marauder, archer, etc.?
thank you.
Who should I get in touch with about joining the FC on Sargatanas?

Nah. I did play FFXI for a while, but it was on Sylph.
I ended up making an alt on Faerie to play with said friend, but it's a bit annoying waiting for them to either open Hyperion again or allow transfers for my friend to transfer her character to Hyperion (which won't happen for a while since Hyperion is high population).

Basically, for melee DPS, go STR. For archer, go DEX. For tanks, ideal stats are in debate. Some like as much HP as possible and go for VIT. Some go for STR for extra damage while leveling and for the extra threat generated by that extra damage. Some do half and half, etc.
Buy HQ Mythril Ingots on Marketplace for 500g.
Pick up leve.
Turn in leve, get 20% of a level and 850g.
Repeat over and over.
5k earned and six levels better.
Yeah same dilemma here. :\ Got a group of friends who want to play on Hyperion but I couldn't get on because of various reasons until this weekend.
Started a character on Malboro with another friend but she hasn't been around much so I've basically been tooling around on Sargatanas with my character from 1.0 just kinda soloing everything and hoping for a chance to world transfer someplace or other soon...

You mean Stone Vigil?
where is this leve?
This!Yeah. Leave these slots for us gaffers (I want in so hard!)
You're still in the linkshell right?

Yep was surprised to see I didn't get kicked out since I quit playing before my free trial was up lol >.>;
Man, judging by that pic lalafells are so much cuter than tatarus. :O <3 Love my lala.
I'd love to see a launch census too. I am not seeing as many lalas are humes as this chart has me believe there are so I think the distributions changed.

Just finished the campaign. Thanks for the help Tao!
Praetorium and the last fights were very cool, and the ending...wow.
Think this was the best climax to an FF game in a long time, at least since FFXI: Chains of Promathia. Just...so good. YoshiP and his crew need their own single player mainline game.
Some of us are still waiting for our game to arrive!
Might pick it up as my second job...or white mage those are scare these days too.Probably why it's recommended to go tank for story.
Ya I get what you mean, although to be honest I play it more as a solo game with a really living world. I thought the Duty Finder was a really neat idea, I registered for the dungeon and went off to do FATEs and Leves but after half an hour no one else was registered for the dungeon. So i went back there and basically pestered people until I managed to get a party going. It is, except for a while it caused server problems. So now the worlds are in groups and duty finder only searches within the group of servers, so it's narrowed down there. Furthermore, if you are playing a damage-dealing class, you should expect a long wait because there are more damage-dealing class players proportionally to the tanks and healers. People do use the duty finder for story dungeons, it just so happens that this is how the class ratios determine how long you have to wait.
The way you're doing it is just how people did it before duty finder existed. And in a sense you can say it is better, because you're playing with people on the same server that you can friend and play with again. Alternatively you can ask to join a free company and try to build a party from there.
It's an MMO, there are things built in to encourage social play. It's not a solo game.
They really need to add some "within x yards" settings. I've not had too many problems, but when it does fuck up it fucks up spectacularly. Most of all they need to fix summons still showing up in the enemies filter for click-targeting. If click-targeting (X on controller, not sure what keyboard equivalent is) was reliable as 'always closest enemy' most my issues would be solved. So what are people doing to make their TAB targeting not suck?
I don't really want anything too complicated. I just want TAB to target the nearest enemy first and I can't get it to do that. It always ends up cycling through ones that are completely out of range. In FATES for example there will be a group of 4-5 enemies and TAB will ignore them in favor of ones way in the back.
