Xbox One Dashboard Leak - Version 2

hCB9EE6C0

I'm not sure what that gif is, but there isn't

It has an unnamed button in the same place though.

I'm liking it, hopefully they make it like wp8 where you can make the titles bigger or smaller and place them where you'd like.

First thing I'll do when I pick up an Xbone is change the tile colour.

Think I'll go with
Playstation
blue

EXACTLY WHAT WE'RE SAYING.

All he did was pull up the dashboard. He didn't access any of those services.

Hence, it wasn't multitasking.

Why are you quoting me? I was disagreeing with someone saying that the current gen's in game guides were just as functional as what has been shown here....

I actually quite like Bing. I think some of the ways it displays info have influenced Google positively.

In defense of this kid and his parent's career... perhaps he just meant that the Bing app in beta is currently garbage and not worth showing.

Bing rewards are awesome, in the past year I've raked up tons of free Amazon gift cards just for doing my normal everyday searches. Bing search works fine, and the voice search is fast/accurate on the phone.

There isn't a start button anymore.

The irony. At least it is back in Windows 8.1

I like the $30 in Amazon and XBLA credits I've gotten just for using it over the past few year or whatever through rewards. Free stuff is free.

But it works fine and some things I prefer.

Why would MS have a controlled leak rather than showing a rehearsed employee going through every important part of the UI with high production values and obvious praise?

It didn't happen when he did it earlier.
Ryse started in a cutscene, which ran fine when bringing up the dash around it. When the game switched to actual gameplay, there weren't enough resources to run it smoothly (this is a "constrained" state per El Torro), so it stuttered. So no playing a game in the background while you browse the store!

It remains to be seen the performance characteristics of snapped apps.

I posted some better videos of the same thing a while back, somebody who is playing Zoo Tycoon at Gamescom

... sigh, internet people.

its not about "better" things dude, the point is everyone clamoring for it get taken down or the conspiracy theories are just kidding themselves, they dont care, it doesnt hurt them to have youtube videos of the dashboard up, especially because the content isnt negative

If someone posted these type of videos and was just railing on how shitty it is the whole time, thats when the videos get pulled.

It's okay but so cluttered. I kind of hate the way the icons look. They are so bland and in one color. If it were to be more minimalistic, I would probably more prefer them to all look different.. It's okay but I'm not a fan of Windows 8 anyways. Hopefully they space it out and separate them a little

Looks fluid (thank you 3GB) but I feel like it's missing a clear structure. The tiles are all over the places.

MS should take inspiration from the XBMC skin Xperience1080:

What? they should have taken inspiration from a 3rd party UI based on their old dashboard?
and put ads on it?
I'm not sure of what I'm reading!

The important thing about what I'm seeing so far is that things work as advertised and I can customise it more than I currently can, it's looking promising for those things right now.

Not sure it needs all that as I want the interface to stay clean, but they do need to have time in there. The guide menu would show the time on 360 and now that it's gone they could put it on the dashboard. Temp would be nice too, but things could get cluttered quickly.

I think it is kinda weird that the game continues playing when he goes back to the dash. I would hope my game pauses so i don't miss anything. Kinda like the Vita does it. I still see where I left off but the doesn't run in the background. maybe there will be an option to set something like that.

On PS3 the games behave in 3 different ways when bringing up the XMB:

- freeze the game
- game keeps running
- bring up the pause menu

For the next-gen multitasking screenshot-purposing stuff, I hope games will only use the first option. Keeping in running looks nicer, but seems unpractical.

Or even better, keep it running whenever there is no player action required/possible (during cutscenes, main menu, loading times etc. etc.), then freeze once a level is loaded etc.

Again. I have no problems with Metro so this looks fine to me. I wish to see the dash when the live tiles are on. I also hope they allow you to choose from different tile sizes like in Windows 8.1

While you're in the game you press the Guide button the game continues to play:

why did they think thats a good idea?

so now when developers are dicks and dont have a pause feature in particular parts of a game, we cant even override that by bringing up the guide menu like we've done with the 360

a cutscene started and you need to pause?

well too bad, maybe you'll unlock it in the extras and get to rewatch it there..

This interface looks like WIndows 8 and I'm not particularly fond of Windows 8.

Would love to see more features done with the game in the background. It's very snappy right now, which is a nice surprise.

I am very curious how you snap things and do a lot of stuff that you'd normally use Kinect for.
Unlike windows 8 this interface is acceptable though without a precision mouse and all that jazz. It fits the platform.

You do realize the hooks are likely not all implemented and finalized

That's the E3 demo he was showing, why would crytek invest the resources to make sure the game paused when the guide was pressed when they are too busy getting the demo out?

When the games are done, that's when the end to end experience will be ready. What we are seeing is a work in progress with a dashboard build from who knows when...

I do like to multitask, so that's feature looks really nice.

I also love the notion that it's an MS leak when the kid calls Bing garbage, and mentions it's buggy.
