Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | September 2013 | Token Indie Thread

I was just thinking a couple of days ago how light I thought the Vita felt. I certainly don't need anything lighter, and the fact that it'd be an LCD screen means the revision holds no appeal to me.

VitaTV sounds cool, but, I'm not sure I want yet another device.

Same here. I actually wish it was heavier.

Hopefully they get rid of the silly 100 applications limit when they put that 64GB card on the market. It's super annoying, and I'm still just rocking a 16GB card (I have a lot of PSM games and Minis ° ͜ʖ ° )

Revision is cool, but I will stick with the OG for the OLED. Will get a Vita TV but I don't know how much it will get used, I'm more of a fan of playing on the handheld than on the TV, ask my dusty PS3. And of course a 64GB card. Will try to import one ASAP.

Good news all around, should lead to a lot more support of Vita in the future.

Any pics of this, cant seem to find one.
Here it is:

What the hell did I miss? What the hell is going on? I leave GAF for one freaking day and Sony drops bombs...

My head is spinning....

Have there been good write ups I'd this morning's news? Curious as to what Soul Sacrifice Delta is, and whether or not the Vita TV runs games at a higher resolution.

Wow. Looking at the responses in the advert thread....Sony must have done a really bad job at showing off the remote play features of their consoles and handheld.

I am not sure what there is to explain. The video makes it clear: you can use remote play through the internet or a local network. Bam. That's all you need to know. Remote play replicates the PS4 screen on your vita. What else needs to be said?

Oh, look at that thread. A lot of them doesn't even know that function currently exists on the PS3, PSP and Vita.

Ok... so this Vita TV is just Vita hardware as a console?

Still plays physical Vita games...
Uses dualshock 3
Can remote play with PS4

Hmmm so this will possibly boost Vita support.... yeah, excellent move on Sonys part. Vita can't "die" now... but I do fear for the future of the handheld hardware..

New model is a nice reassurance but we'll see if the quality is worth the price..

Soul Sac Delta and 2?? I NEED INFO

So the only Sony event that I had literally zero hype for ended up being the one with the megatons? Awesome.

I was sleeping because i thought it would be disapointing. Holy shit.

I found this news in Siliconera.

Sony will clear out stock of the old PlayStation Vita model on October 31 with the PlayStation Vita 3G/Wi-Fi model Play! Game Pack. This hardware bundle includes a PlayStation Vita (model PCH-1000), a 32GB memory card, Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational

It's a crazy deal. If they do something similar in the West i'm going to cry. However, today is a good day for Vita owners. 2014 line-up is getting better as we speak.

What price point do people expect for this model in the west? Something like 150-175€/$ would be sweet with some nice bundles.

Now now, the Vita TV is still just a niche device. It is a supplement/option for gamers, and it cannot replace the vita since the fact that it is not a handheld inherently limits its functionality. I am sure it will do well enough for the product that it is (a cheap streaming device with an excellent back catalogue of games), but it will not be the next big thing.

No OLED on the Vita 2.0 makes me sad. T_T

I would consider getting it if the 2.0 had a HDMI out. For now, Vita 1.0 > 2.0, solely due to the OLED.

Have a few friends excited for Vita TV. Glad I have a launch model VITA. No desire for version with LCD. Might grab another one if possible for a spare. Old spare I gave to my brother.

Well, as a good friend, you have to inform them that the Vita's TV's vita library is extremely limited, so they should still get a Vita, though 100 bucks I think is still a good price to get access to the PSP's catalogue.

I'm not sure extremely limited is accurate. Mostly launch games trying to use all vitas features.

Plus there are possible solutions that might arrise. Patch to have remapping options for ds3. Ds4 touch could work for some.

Plus if it takes off devs will keep this in mind when setting up control schemes.

Definitely let them know the drawbacks. For 100 bucks that might be the push they needed. Hope Vita games get a bump in sales all around also. Can't wait for KZ tues.

Vita TV should have been bundled with a dualshock 4. The touchpad could have replaced the touchscreen's functions, although I guess maybe it would have made it more expensive.

Also, I hope the new Phantasy Star actually leaves Japan. :(

Think of it as an option for potential vita owners. Cheap and home console version? Buy the vitaTV device or the actual Vita2.0 for extended battery life, comfier design and 1Gig built in mem for patches, I suppose.

Also, theres only an expansion of SS and not a sequel, that was mistranslation/misunderstanding. My assumptions is that it seems like more different small fry enemies, more actual varied designed bosses, more fancier and destructible maps and maybe abilities to warp the environment ala that spell that raises the ground. Oh and a new force instead of full divine and dark called Neutral force, hence SS Delta.

I beat my high score, but it was bitter sweet.

I had been going for a very sweet run, opening and ghosting every vault I could find. Found the jetpack early and was on mark to smash my record. Unfortunately, a careless mistake in the ice caves caused me to get frozen by a mammoth which led me to use my extra life (ankh) one level earlier than required. This greatly reduces your score. Not only do you not get to go to the city of gold, but you don't get to kill the final boss
and score all those wonderful rubies!

Knowing my run would ultimately be cut short, I decided to go into the mother ship. My track for this level is pretty low, but doing so not only nets you more money but also causes you to repeat area 3-4.

I had to take down Olmec with only 5 bombs as the crates above him yielded no bombs. I took him down with 2 lol

you'll see me on the leaderboards as the only person to have such a high score and only make it to 4-4. I'm led to believe that, had I not messed up, success was assured at least #2 spot. I would have had about 1.3 million, if not more. I was up to 23 hearts, which is also a new record.

Will be interesting to see how these new devices sell (TVita, Vita 2000). I dont have a lot of confidence as of now. Hope my intuition is wrong.

That said, love that they have announced all of this. If nothing else, it shows Sony still cares about and has bigger plans for the Vita.

The current list of games does look quite limited

Though the list may expand as more games gets patched.

Though it does have quite a few good vita titles.

Pretty much this.
Now we can put "bbbbut Sony's gonna abandon Vita!" quotes to rest...

Really happy about the larger cards, though I suspect I'll have mine full by Christmas or so. I hope I don't have to import it through Play-Asia, though if it comes to that, I'll do in a heartbeat. I'm not sure if I'll keep my 32GB...it might be nice to have as a back-up, or to use in a Vita TV (which I'm going back and forth on at the moment).

I'm sad that none of the new Vitas come in orange. I wanted one of these so badly:

It still may be a niche device but It definitely forces a market out of its existance. Now you have a console with a superb backlog at sub 150 that can also interact with PS4. If I needed a little cheap console just for quick go-to games and didnt want to spend some dough... This would be the perfect system. Hell, Its still portable as I can grab it and take it to another house if need be..

Absolutely fucking not.

This does not need to be monster hunter -- the few multi-tier levels they had were interesting but also annoying, so no thank you.

I meant climbing on enemies ala Dragons Dogma :(

Yeah, nothing beats more options. Either way this is SUPERB news. It really has restored my faith back into Sony supporting the Vita brand.. I think they were spending their time trying to figure out how to progress it.. Now all we need is growing install base and the games will POUR in.

I fell in love with SS since the demo so more SS is always a thing on my list. Delta or 2, I dont care just give it to me!!! Lol

Only thing that interests me is the bigger memory card. Even then it's mostly for others so they can have more storage space.

Just content to play games on my handheld device the way they were meant to be played. Glad Sony isn't giving up though. Seriously so much potential that has gone untapped in the last 18 months.

I'd love to see one of these coupled with a tablet.

Sadly there are no tablets I'm aware of with HDMI in.

But give me a sony tablet with this built in, and pair it with a DS4.... and remote play will be AWESOME :)

Oh my, what a day. So many Vita news

PS VITA TV is an interesting concept and it looks fantastic, I think I will get it at some point in the future (I need a TV first :D)

I'm very excited for SoulS Delta, loved the original and can't wait to see more about the new entry. I didn't expect to hear about the sequel so soon to be honest

Revision is pretty cool except for screen :( once you go OLED you can't go back

Holy shit, lot of announcements to arrive to see!

Vita TV looks really interesting. Not sure I would get it, but the idea is pretty cool. Anything to expand the market.

Vita 2.0 is....um....I don't know. I would have figured it would be cheaper by going to the LCD screen, but I guess that's offset somewhat by the built-in memory. No desire to get one without dat OLED, and I'm completely satisfied with mine. But it's good for market expansion potential.

Overall I'm surprised there was that much that came out of this conference. And this is all before TGS itself!

Edit: Augh! First top of the page. Ummm....buy Killzone Mercenary, so you can play MP on your tv with the Vita TV.

I'm hoping a native PS4 version of PSO2. If this happen, the chance of seeing the game in the west is more likely.

Aren't there both expansion and sequel? :)

I've been reading information. Delta is in March 2014, and it'll be an expansion. Probably main game + DLCs + new levels, story lines, monsters, areas and features. It would be interesting if they offer digitally as a DLC for 20€/20$/2000yen aprox. Those who have bought the OG game will get a massive DLC and those who want to buy the game for the first time will get it.

Soul Sacrifice 2 will be a 2015 game.

i probably won't be adopting the larger memory card right away. ill wait for a deal on craigslist again

I'll buy a 32 mem card anyway. That way I can keep my current 16gb one for PSP and PSOne games and the 32 for proper Vita games.

Looks like Kaz really is serious about breaking the existing business unit silo model.

I can see this being built into TV's, tablets, av receivers etc as well... and with Gaikai still to come, LOTS of possibilities for Sony to unify its ecosystem and deliver services to all of it.
