Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | September 2013 | Token Indie Thread

I've been on a sort of extended holiday in Spain and for some reason Sony won't let me connect to psn but I've been playing dragons crown and now killzone quite a bit too.


Any review that gives kz:m less than 9/10 isn't worth reading. It loses one point only. No bot mode. Stings as predicted.
The Metacritic score is ridiculous.

Hope you've all been well. Missed the gamescom stuff, I saw borderlands 2 on an announced list but I'll believe that when I see it. Glad to hear legends is getting add on dlc. Pretty chuffed with kzm and dc though, looking forward to luftrausers and tearaway. Decent end of year for the vita.

very rare issue. i don't think ive ever seen evidence of it even aside from one or two people posting about it in the first few months.

supposedly it was mainly caused due to elongated usage of the web app...
you should be fine if youre not leaving your vita powered on with a static screen up for hours on end.

its not going to get a burn in through normal human usage. just don't be retar- just don't be naive and mistreat it.

just a heads up - 3g is very unnecessary
 
As someone whose definitely getting a Vita in the near future, I woke up to a lot of great news today. Now I know I need to jump on the OG design to get dat OLED. Likely going to wait for some BF deals as retailers will be clearing stock for the 2000 model. Did they say when the 2000 launches in the US?

Also - any reason why USians couldn't import the Vita TV? The hardware is region free, right? We'd just need to sign in with our NA account and bang, that's it - right?
 
Well this sucks. Can't find anyplace that sells any grips for the Vita in my region.
Thinking of importing, but stuff is quite expensive.

I think the redesigned vita is still selling at the same price as the current ones. Unless I missed some info here and there. Not going to buy one, for now. If my vita decides to croak, hopefully not, then Ill probably buy vita 2.0 For now, OLED vita remains :D

Bastion on vita would be grand. At least, we'll get its successor Transistor via remote play. Also, Kickbeat is pretty fun. The music included is great but the track generator is a bit wonky.

which grip are you thinking of getting?
man I should have went with the Hori grip instead

EDIT: Sony should really bundle those Vita 2000 with a 16GB memory card or something with 90Days PS+

Was looking at the PDP Trigger grip. The Hori one seemed quite cheap and the Nyko one seems too extreme.
 
Kinda stings when I read in the Vita TV thread stuff like "Guess I'm not buying a Vita anymore!" then I realize, "Wait a minute... They are." ;)

Yes, Bastion will be lovely. Played the demo in PC a year ago or so, but I would love playing it in a PlayStation console. I'm not a PC gamer.

Don't say anything. Just let them hate the Vita while they are buying it and its games. They can live in their bubble as long as both hardware and software sales start to get healthier.

Yeah people acting like PS Vita TV will kill off Vita really aren't thinking it through. I'm all for VitaTV taking off, it means more games for me on my Vita :P
 
My Oled Vita will always be with me but now I want a PS4+Vita tv bundle. I'm willing to pay 500 bucks for it.
 
It doesn't matter how good are the lcd screens in some pricey phones, vita 2k is meant to be cheap, its screen will be cheap, good, but not the best one.

I'm starting to think that vita tv could be a potential bad news for me because developers could aim to vita tv instead of vita, this would mean:
-no pointer/mouse/touchscreen heavy games, i want some strategy, managerial etc games :(
-more games will use the rear touchpad just to replace l2 and r2.

it's getting dualshock4 support patched in at a later date, launching with a dualshock3 bundle, and it is called a psvita tv. you will be able to play vita games with the dualshock3!

i'm really stoked for it. it will be a nice companion to the vita and ps4.

On the KickBeat forum, we've got a couple threads covering music importing. One is for people sharing settings from song's they've tried and found to work, and the other is for people asking for help getting the right settings. Both places are pretty good for de-wonkization.

Although there are certainly some things that will trip up the generator: tempo changes or otherwise inconsistent beats and long periods of silence or dramatically lower levels will both result in unsatisfactory tracks.

I somehow hope Kickbeat can support internet radio streaming. my memory card is maxxed out as it is :/ can't really import extra songs

This is how it works with a regular Vita so most likely yes.

Anyway, I'm wondering if TVita sales numbers will count towards the total Vita sales...

We looked into that, but no go. We need to have the whole track available while doing analysis, as the analysis is too CPU-intensive to do on the fly, and it has to do multiple passes that compare parts of the song to other parts.

I see :/ it's a bummer but understandable. gah maybe the 64GB will help with some of that.
 
im so exited for the Vita TV, gonna have my ps4 in 2 tvs now :D im sure the missus wont mind a sexy white box like that in the room :D oh and for $100 Ouya and all those upcoming android consoles gotta feel the burn
 
I'm curious about how Soul Sacrifice Delta works. I really hope the expansion is available as DLC for owners of the original. Phantasy Star Nova, Natural Doctrine, and all of those Musou games need to be localized.

It's not like Vita TV is diminishing the number of touch-screen enabled Vita's on the market, on the contrary; it should only help that number grow.

As to your second point I'm sure the developers will also be able to detect whether a game is being played on a Vita or with a dual shock, and they can easily implement optimal controls for both. Heck, even PS4 games will do this, offering controller layout specifically tailored for the Vita rather than just rear touchpad emulating buttons.
 
reading that thread on the portable tank (Nvidia Shield), it is actually pretty cool...

man I would love to stream that PS2 emulator thingum to my Vita :/

That's exactly the problem, ps4 games are meant to be played with l2 and r2, playing with the rear touchpad will be possible but it won't the best way to play them, but those are ps4 games so it's normal, what if they start making vita games with dualshock in mind? Many games would be less playable on vita.

I didn't watch the conference, but is the Vita redesign replacing the old one? If I ever need to replace mine, I don't want this new one.
 
Rather not start a thread just to ask, but:

My Vita got a stuck pixel (red colored); basically a single bright spec on the bottom left of the screen.

Simple question: is there a solution for this, cause it appears my only option is to get another one. Is there a chance it goes away on its own? (Been there for 4 days now)

Thanks, it's good to be kinda home! I will be checking in more now that I have a local simcard. Last time I lost nearly 10bux worth of data trying to browse the kz:m thread with all the gifs - just two pages, had to do without.



I think I'll skip vita 2.0 - until I'm flush enough to get one for collection purposes.
hope to see a 3.0 deluxe with oled back. I'll get that.

Need to get some wifi to watch that vita tv ps4 trailer.

Btw so much stuff came for free on eu ps+ (which I can't download but thanks to the webstore got them for safekeeping. I had bought so many of them. I could have sworn stealth bustard only just came out not long ago too :p. Will try and wait out spelunky. I think I can manage this time. Although bot mode for kz:m would have sealed it. I guess sony want us to buy more games.

I checked out the community page for kzm (sony pages), 90% is just threads asking for it. Glad the full game turned out fantastic as well, just doing the last mission now. I managed to reset my sleep here but since I got this the other day I've been staying up really late playing. It has that one more try feel to it, too easy to pick up and play more. luckily Spanish version played on English automatically, nice and easy, bit fucked with dlc but it's worth it.
 
To all VitaBro's in Germany: If you're still waiting for Rayman Legends, you might get lucky in your local MediaMarkt/Saturn. I picked it up in my local MM in Würzburg today!
