Maybe if you really like Othello.wow, didnt even know NES got a spot game...is it nearly as good as the genny one?
I just want a release date. I've been checking the store every day!
I would get a cart for Recca if it didn't cost 10 times what Crisis didGimmick! is probably going to be the one real expensive cart I snag.
in general most are pretty open to it...although if you're getting repros of stuff not released here otherwise i think it's easier for some than if it's just stupid-expensive shit.
personally, i don't care either way, just happy to see people play these games. go nuts.
Well I don't mean morally, I'm talking about what will/won't get you banned.
GAF has rules against condoning piracy, and I imagine repros could easily fall into that category.

True, but GAF's admins are pretty darn common sense about their policies.Well I don't mean morally, I'm talking about what will/won't get you banned.

Please tell me you'd like to sell me one, ha.Bang bang!!

AV Famicom works perfect with the games that have audio upgrades. It is not region-locked but due to the cart slot pinout you will need any old convertor that goes from 72-to-60 to play NES games on it. There was an Ebay seller a few months ago blowing them out at like $10. It is just as reliable as the US top loader but with cleaner video. It is totally compatible with the FDS because the original Famicom was top loading and the AV Fami was designed with a flatter top with it the RAM/adapter in mind.- Does it work well with games with special chips? (Like Akumajou Densetsu's VRC6 Chip)
- Is it region locked? Which pin converter would I need?
- Is it reliable/prone to failure?
- Is it compatible with the Disc System? I plan on getting one of those somewhere down the line, too.

Snake Rattle and Roll was so fun. It's it pricey?
I almost forgot, I found Ninja Gaiden at a flea market over the weekend. Now, I'm only missing part III to complete the trilogy, but considering the brutal changes to the American version, I'm half considering the Famicom import, lol.
Apologies for breaking etiquette and posting twice in succession, but I wanted to share a picture of my new precious: Crisis Force converted from Famicom to NES with custom box and label.

Sadly, a Gyromite board had to be orphaned to make this possible. For those that don't know, this is absolutely not a reproduction. It's currently not possible to create a reproduction of Crisis Force for the NES since Konami used a one-off mapper for the game.
It is a delicious label, isn't it? As it turns out, Joe at The NES Dump made his own conversion way back when and that's the label he used. I just sent my cart to him and he affixed it for me. Full disclosure: I also bought a couple of hacks on cart from him, so it was more of a minor addition to an order.I know I already quoted this before, but you inspired me to order my own Famicom copy of Crisis Force and Gyromite donor cart. My only question is where did you get that label? Did you find it online somewhere or did you design it yourself?
The AV Famicom mixes the expansion audio rather loud, so on Akumajou Densetsu the extra audio channels kinda drown out sound effects, as well as the other music channels.
So the other night I go hunting for the fanny pack (lolol) in which I used to keep my GBA SP. I go in to our spare closet and pull a box from the top with assorted gaming gear. I found a PS2 slim, a Tekken Hori stick, a bunch of wires and cables, and then I spotted an NES game in a black dust protector. I pulled it out and what did I see? This gem:

I screamed out because I couldn't believe it. I can't even remember purchasing the game. I think that I bought it a few years back at a flea market before I realized the rarity of some NES games. If it was the time I was thinking of, I think I bought it, Duck Tales 1 (that wound up being busted and the base of the board looked scratched), Rescue Rangers, and a Game Genie for $5 a pop.
I've been buying a lot of NES, SNES, and N64 games locally lately. Living in a small town, I've gotten some deals. I might post my collections this evening if I can remember to do it.
Reminds me of Frost Man's "jump, jump, slide" level in Mega Man 8. Equally frustrating.Little Nemo is good, but very difficult. That damn train level.
Damn, nice find. I think my copy of DuckTales 2 might be in a box in my parents' house somewhere.
Stopped at a local mom & pop shop to pick up some PS3 games, and they had this for $9, so I picked it up.
Out of all of Capcom's licensed stuff, this, Little Mermaid, and Adventures in the Magic Kingdom are the games I've had the least amount of exposure to.
Of course, my AV Famicom won't be showing up 'til next week...
Little Mermaid is very easy, but it plays well. It's worth trying but not as memorable as DuckTales/Rescue Rangers/Little Nemo.
Magic Kingdom, avoid that. It's frustrating, has way too many gimmicks, and is clunky. The worst Capcom Disney game (yeah even worse than Mickey Mousecapade)

This is my new white whale. The Famicom gun from Nintendo of Japan. I bet this will be hard to find cheap, but it's so mind-numbingly awesome compared to our zapper.

yeah if i get a famicom im gonna have to get one of those light guns they look rad
Gargoyle's Quest II can still be found loose on pricy ol' eBay for about $40 if you keep an eye out, though it's typically a $50-$60 game there now.
What I find bizarre is that it doesn't sell for twice that. Mighty Final Fight was released the same year I believe, or close to it, and had a much larger print run (given the # of sales I've seen), and it easily goes for $90 now while Gargoyle's Quest II lags behind.
They're both pretty darn good games; I'd wager to say GG2 is better once you get past that third town with the hellish jungle stage.
If you don't already have it, I cast 1000 votes for Crisis Force.Speaking of Konami FC exclusives, anyone have any other suggestions?![]()
