Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | September 2013 | Token Indie Thread

I wonder if either Phantasy Star Nova or Soul Sacrifice 2 has a decent chance of blowing up in Japan. I'm thinking MH-->MHG kind of fanbase explosion.

MH4 looks so bland, really. It can't be king forever.

EDIT: Megaton game was Football Manager, "P" game was (probably) either Phantasy Star Nova or Freedom Wars (which I guess internally used to be called Panopticon), or...Pixeljunk Monsters Ultimate, I guess. Two separate games.

It's not a port.

Definitely Phantasy Star Nova.

I was thinking that Phantasy Star Nova was the biggest title PS Vita could realistically get.

Phantasy Star Portable was the second best-selling non Monster Hunter or Square Enix AAA title. It was only outsold by Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. God Eater 2 is a multiplatform release, Square Enix no longer develops big budget portable games and there is no need to say anything about the totally irrelevant Konami.

In the future, the only game with the same sales potential will be God Eater 3 since it will likely be released exclusively on PS Vita.

5 best-selling non Monster Hunter or Square Enix PSP games:

1. Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (Konami) {2010.04.29} - 446.133 / 791.761
2. Phantasy Star Portable (SEGA) {2008.07.31} - 329.455 / 636.973
3. God Eater (Bandai Namco) {2010.02.04} - 276.104 / 617.828
4. Phantasy Star Portable 2 (SEGA) {2009.12.03} - 284.883 / 590.527
5. God Eater Burst (Bandai Namco) {2010.10.28} - 267.178 / 458.490
It is BIG!

I completed Uncharted: GA today. A good addition to the series although aiming is a bit tricky if you want to get a headshot and the touch controls are mainly terrible addition. It is definitely a game worth buying/getting a ps plus subscription for.

Did you use gyro aiming?

the red Vita 2.0 looks great, but I doubt I'll buy with the LCD screen (and supposedly it's a lower-quality LCD aka not IPS).

I hate this mark on my Vita's screen, though... not a scratch, just a circular rainbow-colored chip area that doesn't even have any dip in the surface of the screen.

No... Don't talk about no damn Phantasy Star Nova when we don't even have Phantasy Star Online 2...

No... No.. No... I aint falling for that shit.

Are we sure it's not Panopticon or whatever that is?

Headshots are easy... you just have to acclimate to the shorter throw of the sticks... once you get it... bam.
Some people recommend gyro aiming. I do not.
Also, the touch controls are fantastic in some spots (and miserable in others... I'm looking at you, final chapters). I never want to play another Uncharted if it doesn't have touch climbing.

I've asked him several times on Twitter to get PSO2 localized; and I've done the same to @giocorsi. Game is already friggin' finished, all they need to do is translate a relatively small amount of simple text to English. Would be a cheap way to bring another popular series to the Vita.

Touch climbing was fantastic bar the occasional QTE but holding the vita towards light, the boss fights and wiping off dirt were not fun and or good additions to the game.

I just used the analogs and struggled to get an a good aim for headshots, on console it came a lot more naturally, so I am pretty glad there wasn't too many armored soldiers in this game.

You should have tried the gyro aim. It's really good. You may nee to set the sensitivity higher.

Most of the QTEs that I remember weren't bad either, but as you noted, the boss fights and the light were probably the worst implementations -- other things that used the Vita's features weren't terrible, mostly.

Vita's short analogs make it hard to adjust versus a console experience -- you either have to compensate by using something like gyro aiming or you have to grow accustomed to the differences. I did the latter, personally, and by the time I got my platinum, I was headshotting people left and right. :)

Alright guys, I think I want to buy a new case. The case I have now is the PlayStation Vita Travel Pouch. I like it, but it adds too much bulk and not enough style.

Any suggestions? I'm thinking sub $30.

I love the focus that Sony is giving to the vita... Makes me very encouraged for the future.

Obvious worry: when my vita breaks, I don't want to downgrade from OLED to LCD...

Having said that, we're not talking about an LCD screen you'd find on a watch... Sony makes tv's you know ;)

Also, the cynic in me thinks that Sony had millions of components for unmade vitas either bought, costed of lying around in their factory and someone thought:

LET'S JUST CHUCK THIS SHIT IN A LITTLE WHITE BOX!!!

Genius.

Grrr...the guy apologizing for the PSO2 hiccup....should be apologizing for the lack of translation instead.

I sooooooooooooo want to play PSO2. Fuckitty fuck.

So many Vita related news lately that they make my head spin @____@

Anyways, Phantasy Star Nova or Phantasy Star Online... realistically speaking, which one of these two is more possible for us to get? Or the chance for any one or both of them is depressingly just zero? :(

Phantasy Star Nova, since they don't have to pay server costs.

I can see SCE publishing PSN.

I just realized Ubisoft's hosting their fall Digital Days event tomorrow...anyone think we'll see some Vita games out of that? Nothing jumped out from that leaked image last week, but you never know...

I just wish Child of Light is also coming to Vita.
Ubi Art runs great on the platform as exemplified by the Rayman games.

I think the other leaked stuff is probably for iOS.

The fact that embargo on Ubisoft's new title reveal is on Tuesday, a day or so after the reveal of PS Vita 2.0 and PS VitaTV is highly suspect.

Need a new game to fill in the void left from completing SMTIV. Havent been using my Vita since SMTIV came out.

What's a good game, RPG preferably, with a good story, great gameplay, well realized world with unique art direction? I'm considering Dragons Crown. But the games length, and my suspicion that the game is repetitive with recycled levels (like Muramasa) is holding me back.
