Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | September 2013 | Token Indie Thread

Rayman Origins PSV was $6.75. I know because that's why I didn't buy it—the console version was $5 and I didn't want to pay extra for a double dip. Haha.

Hasn't the 3G unit already been retired by Sony?
Maybe not officially, but yeah, supplies have dried up.
It's likely even SCEJ is clearing out any remaining stock with this bundle—pretty good deal if you're in Japan.

anyone know whats up with the store update today (US)?

what's coming? what's new? what's free/on-sale?

etc
Galaga DX free on PS3. Dragon Fantasy Book II on sale, PS Plus 11.99, reg 14.99. Huge Call of Duty sale. Doodle God is 5.99 for regs, 4.49 for PS Plus. Aliens: Colonial Marines is on sale, along with it's DLC.

And some crazy looking FPS dinosaur hunting game called Carnivores HD for PS3. Haven't seen a trailer, but the pics look reaaalllly interesting.

i wouldn't have minded getting book 1 cheap, but I'm not into these episodic games. id rather pay one price and have everything instead of waiting

Np. I picked up Book One during that last sale cause it was so cheap, and it seems cool. Working on one old school RPG right now, once that is done I'll likely plow through both DF's as I have heard pretty solid things about them.

Is anyone still playing Trials Ev... I mean Urban Trial Freestyle? I seem to hold the record for every stunt and every track! That can't be right... can anyone else check?

physical it is. any online pass?

I wonder if this game gonna have dlc, my game store usually only sell Asia version of games, I usually have to specially ask if I want US version.

It doesn't have online pass.

Keep posting those Vita2000 images. Everytime I see that thing you are making me like my OG model more and more.

It really seems one of those cheap Android devices. Someone knows if it looks better when you actually have it in your hands? The case might seem cheaper because it reflects the camera flash or something.

I'm tempted to buy that game to try and beat your records, as I always dominated my friends list in Trials Evo.

How's about the same question, but for Super Stardust Delta? I got a ton of VitaGaffers, but last time I checked I was ranked higer than them allll :D I know it's a launch game, but plenty of those launch titles are still just as good as current games!

I don't think my scores are that great, that's the thing. I think they may have reset the leaderboards or something and no-one else is playing so my face is plastered all over the billboards! Either that or there's a bug. The game is free on PS+ in the EU at the moment.

Pretty sure it will get some DLC. This is one of Sony's tentpole releases and to be honest 6 MP maps are not enough.

Mighty No. 9 backer update:

As we mentioned in the update, we are looking into different options regarding the possibility of Vita and 3DS versions, possibly as later stretch goals, or through other methods. We honestly aren’t sure how this will turn out, but we can tell you we do hear you, and we are doing all we can to look into ways to make it happen. (By the way, these are not either of the “???” mystery stretch goals -- both of those are game-content related.)

I want to go get my copy of killzone already, dammit! But I'm stuck at home waiting on a service tech. >_<

Go for it, I got it from Plus and love it so far. Framerate is a bit low in most tracks but the game looks fantastic and also plays great.
You dang EU PS Plus members and your sweet free games. I've been wanting it for a while, might as well go ahead and dive in....I mean, it IS only 9.99....

I didn't forget about my Spelunky guide last night. I actually played for about an hour purposely getting myself into situations where I could try to illustrate certain tips/tactics to employ to maximize success.

i've also perfected the 0 heart, just whip method of taking out the initial shop keeper.

i wanted a main section of the guide to include the black market, as that's really the turning point in a run. I included some screens to show situations and how I approached them (successfully) and what you could follow along with.

yes, a main part of the guide will specifically be shopkeepers, but that's really the "start" of a run, dealing with them and getting out of the caves, then the progression towards the black market and overcoming all 7 of the shopkeepers there.

i also included some photos of the mother ship and the haunted castle for the "suppose" of it. I didn't think about including the worm, but eh

I should have something concrete tonight. I took a shit-ton of pics and wasn't sure how many to include

Beyond the $3.3 M stretch goals? lol

They should come clean that it is not possible, feasible, etc.

That's not what it says.
They said they're not sure what it would entail... they didn't say it would cost more money. The real point is they're looking into it, for those who want it on Vita.

Color me hyped.
I'm beginning to lose interest because I can't get beyond the jungle if I start killing shopkeepers.
And otherwise, I feel like I'm doing it wrong or something...

pics are always good.

pics are always good.

agreed

i wanted to illustrate common examples that you'll find yourself in and give you tools to up your success rate in those situations.

of course you'll still make those mistakes that get you killed as anyone will, but you'll start getting shopkeeper spawns that will turn into a friggin joke and you'll breeze by that specific level with ease.

depending on the interest level, i might do a temple/olmec guide, then possibly a hell run guide.

i rarely explore hell as I just want to GTFO, but ya know

I suppose that you're referring approaches for taking out shopkeepers or robbing shops after they've already called you a terrorist, correct?

getting acquainted with this play style (shopkeepers MUST DIE) will get you more accustomed to the shotgun and the abilities it gives you. it gives you a different approach to enemies as well as taking advantage of the shotgun jump.

usually for shopkeepers, taking them out by gaining a clear shot before they are alarmed is what you want to go for.

another trick i'll discuss is using ropes/bombs to gain a clear sight or cover from their shots and shoot freely until they run into your shots.

and then learning their almost parabolic curve to their patterns and just plowing into the exit at other times. I definitely think you'll get something out of it

I'm already thanking you for this! Should be fun reading all your advanced tactics and tricks!

But have you seen the images? The screen looks even worse than the psp one!

Sony should keep the OG Vita as a premium model.

More Vita Slim photos from Japanese stores. Would be interesting to see a screen comparison

Wooha, the new Vita is ugly as sin, and like people are saying it does look like a Chinese kock-off.

and that lcd look bad, like really really bad...this is Xperia Z like situation all over again.

I think I'll buy an extra/backup OG Vita.

I'm sure it's already been remarked on - but it does seem strange that NOTHING Ubi announced today is coming for the Vita, or even Wii U.

Normally Ubi have been pretty good about supporting both machines - and those 2D Rayman engine games would look so good on the OLED.

Business I guess.

Ubisoft announced Child of Light for Wii U. As Ubisoft, and the development for many of these games are European based this falls on Shahid's hands.

SCEE want indie.

we need to move Ubisoft HQ to asia so SCEJA dudes can get us some goodies.

Vita 2000 might not even come out in the West.

Sony will not make two completely different versions of the damn thing, and this is the revision so older model will get discontinued like always, PSP 2000 killed 1000 and 3000 killed 2000 same with PS3 versions, original Vita will die and get replaced. you need to buy one before it's too late.

So the Killzone site is running something where you can get "exclusive Vita Wallpapers".

I thought it was worth a shot.
It gave me a PSN code.
The PSN code doesn't work.

Great.

So my pre-order bonus code for Killzone: Mercenary isn't working. I'm guessing I have to wait for the store to update, right?

Edit: top of the page. Buy Killzone NOW.

Doesn't Ubisoft span two continents?

And you're assuming Ubi even wanted these games on Vita, after all, none are coming out on 3DS - and it's a bit much to point the finger at ONE man for three games not coming to the system.
