Ten Minutes of Umbrella Chronicles Footage (Zapper Demonstrated + OMG AWESOME)

There's some spoilers in there, so if you want to be surprised on your first playthrough then don't look! They demonstrate how the Wii Zapper works with the game and show parts of the first and second scenarios (Ecliptic Express and The Mansion). A Tyrant boss fight is included (the guy dies, heh).

What you can see of the graphics look great. The Zapper seems to work well. The enemies are now fast, dangerous, and respond to being shot. Destructible environments abound. There are quite a few "oh shit" moments that I saw. All in all, I'm pretty damn hyped.

Game looks good but it looks really awkward and not responsive.

This was pretty much the story with the E3 demo. Hopefully people are on their knees praying the devs tightened up the controls since then.

Maybe it was just the guy who was playing, but oh wow did that ever look floaty. When is this coming out? Hopefully there will be different sensitivity/response time options ala Metroid?

it never ceases to amaze me as to why the CONTROLS are treated as such afterthoughts for wii games

Same reason why gameplay is treated as an afterthought with some PS3/X360 games.

Visuals > * to some developers and those developers are stupid :(

How come whenever I see videos of this game, I never see anyone play it looking down at the "iron sights" ? Do people really play light gun games like this or is it because Wii doesn't do 1:1 so people don't even bother?

It just something that bothers me whenever I see people playing light gun games with the gun at the "hip"

Comes out November 13th. Personally I thought the Zapper looked fairly accurate, but impressions do seem to indicate that the Wiimote works better alone. The game has undeniably come a long way since its first showing.

Oh, and Billy's counter move is utterly badass.

Most developers are spending too much time on the graphics.

Probably because, given the Zapper's design, it would be pretty uncomfortable.

thats the thing, this isn't really a "light gun" game. and the stupidest part about the wii zapper so far is that it is not being used like a light gun in most situations, it's just a holder for the remote essentially. There is still an onscreen cursor, because all it is doing is aiming like the bow in Twilight Princess. Ghost Squad now has a calibration mode that lets you point at the corners of the screen to aim like a normal light gun and remove the on screen crosshair. They chose not to do this in this situation, for whatever reason.

You gotta remember that you don't have exact aiming with the Wii. If you look down at the sights, chances are your pointer isn't going to be right down the sights, more like down and to the right or something. You can play from the hip easily.

Could the zombies be any slower?
The zombies do sudden rushes, and there are a lot of other enemies besides them. Early on in the video the
Hunters
are fast as fuck.

Correct thing. I hope somebody figures out how do 1:1 aiming this gen.

This game is basically a day one purchase for me. Co-op zombie gunning is right up my alley, and the graphics and throw-back to some of my favorite games is the icing on the cake.

I doubt I'll use the zapper though, I'd rather play with just the wiimote and nothing else. Is the analog stick used at all in this game? Why even have a nunchuck attachment really?

The problem with this game is still the fact that it is ridiculously over priced.
As far as I know it's not going to retail in NA for any more than $50. That's not unreasonable, it's not like it's a port.

The game is meaty. It has about 4 missions with lots of checkpoints, lots of weapons, some of the best wii graphics.

If the game has a Chicago typewriter in it, its the only time I will ever use the Zapper.

how much ?

Yeah I am talking about the import version (Japan), which is the version of Wii that I have.

Official price is 7340yen without Zapper, and 8610yen bundled.

Amazon Japan has it listed for 5872yen at the moment.

Online import stores like Play-Asia has it available for US$64.90 without Zapper (price undetermined for Zapper unbundle).

YesAsia has the game only version for $64.49 and Wii Zapper bundle for, dare I say it, a whopping US$88.49!

Paying anything more than US$50.00 for a gun shooting game is just not the right price for me...

Yeesh, yeah okay that's pretty bad. The weak dollar isn't helping at all. If I may ask, why do you only have a Japanese Wii?

Because I love my Japanese games :D Japanese Virtual Console FTW. And I am not prepared to mod my Wii with any means. Not willing to shell out another few hundred dollars for a US/PAL Wii either, as I am a fairly "casual" gamer nowadays.

yeah, chances are I will buy this and play it with the wiimote even if I am tempted to buy the Zapper cause im a weak minded fool.
Well I'm getting Link's Crossbow Training anyways, so I'll have an extra Zapper on hand that I might as well try out.

Those textures are laughable at best.

Some ppl just dislike laggy zombie shooters played on a hovercraft.
Lag? Could you give a timestamp in the video that demonstrates lag? And I'm not even sure what the hovercraft comment is supposed to mean, elaborate?

I do believe he's referring to the unresponsiveness of the pointer. I agree with him.
