Reposting this, as the servers are back up, and it kind of got lost in the discussion about AK changes.

For any gaffers on Leviathan, I have set up a linkshell for us to chat in-game and possibly organize groups.

Linkshell details for Leviathan Gaffers
Name: Gather Against Fate
Leader: Vesaa Sasaki (STAB-Gatekeeper on Gaf)

Everyone welcome, either contact me ingame or send me a PM on here with your character name. Will give everyone who joins invite privileges, so we can get new people in when I'm not around.

It's infuriating
I could start running in split seconds in Titan hard(with7others around) and still be not fast enough
All I need is be clairvoyant
gets so bad that I had to wait a sec+ just for my skill keys to light up after cool down

Going by the reddit thread that I stole this video, this issue is on the "acknowledged bugs" in the forums. So, yeah, it's a bug.

People say that the healer should be looking for the caster bar or something (which he can't because his eyes are on the tank), but still, I look at this video and can see nothing this person did wrong to deserve an instadeath that led to a instawipe.

I have wondered if they tried instancing it if that would help or hurt it.
that way you eliminate random players just in that area, could block players that are way too low lv from participating. or set up multiple instances with a player cap in each.

Can change the FATE requirements, if you can delevel yourself from level sync, then the only way you can even see or touch Odin is through level sync and be @50

Everything else just vanishes away during that FATE
Only your party + Odin should be shown and nothing else
Hell they can push it in the right direction if they wanted too

so did they really stop AF exploits? didn't think they would be so fast with it

first time using this gif. saved it for a special occasion. hopefully that removed the douche finder from the zone and people in there are more relaxed.

But now grinding for DL gear will be even harder on the people who were doing AK runs legit.

Something to consider about teleporting:

To my knowledge it puts strain on the server which causes lag. So if anything it should be made harder to teleport in congested zones to prevent server issues.

Also another point about cut scenes. If you're that bent out of shape about people watching cut scenes, just run the dungeons with people who've already watched them. You shouldn't be trying to speed run with randoms anyway.

I'm not surprised they cockblocked AK.

They changed Huakke from the beta for that reason, and Yoshida stated that things like DH in 1.0 shouldn't happen again. It's a shame that only elitists and crazymen enjoyed the DL set thanks to that, while all the normal people will have to drag their asses from all the dungeon. But better sooner than later.

haven't reached cap yet so all this changes and boohoos is over my head. Can someone give me a general overview of end game (or link me one) and why speedrunning was good/bad or w/e?

Is this game similar to others where you basically grind dungeons for a new currency to buy specific gear from vendors, repeat?

DL was hardly ever the main reason to do that. It was Myth tomes. Philo tomes are still easy enough to farm elsewhere. Get a CM group going and you can probably get as many as you want considering there's no cap.

The good? Allowed you to hit the cap on Tomes of Myth (currency) in two hours or so, considering that running that dungeon is the only viable way to get them.

The bad? I guess it's cheating or something to some people.

Speed running is basically the tank training every mob up to the boss. Everyone else follows and hides in a corner while the tank dies. The mobs all return to their spots, the healer raises the tank and they proceed to fight to boss while skipping every trash mob.

It makes sense to farm both at the same time though. (At least until you cap Myth.)

Oh god! the tears in the official forums.

As always so tasteful.

So it's the same shit.

well shit. I swear i read somewhere that this game was gonna revolutionize mmo end game or something.

I guess ill probably be out in a month or so when i reach cap :/

Maybe back to gw2.

No one said that, not even the director of the game.

Only way to change endgame, is to essentially not have none, which to some is an even worse problem.

Only other option is to make it player driven content, sandbox elements. But you know a lot of players don't like that directionless content system either. You can't please everyone. Some want an attainable goal. GW2 is prime example of it, trying to not have an endgame but then falling into the trap of putting in a ton of grinds anyways.

Crystal Tower might add something that will keep players around and not be a complete grindfest just for better gear. I know that's one of the main reasons for doing all of this end game stuff, but I hope they look into different ways to acquire some of this stuff instead of just completion to gather bits to buy gear. Alternatives that also eat up time would be nice. No real shortcuts, but options to avoid spending every waking minute in queue or in a dungeon just to get stuff.

All the people crying about the horrible speedrunners need to understand something.

The reason speedrunning was so popular in the first place. The enemies in AK and Wanderers give you NOTHING of value. At all, at lvl 50, you get no XP, you get next to no gil, and there are no chances for gear drops from the enemies. This is just a baffling design decision when you combine it with the whole expensive repair bills that REALLY stack up once you hit 50.

Now the repairs cost less, and that is good, but you still have mobs that don;t even give you the chance of getting any reward out of killing them, and that cannot be skipped, that is bad. It also makes the second boss in AK harder, as you will no longer have a way to get LB back if you wipe the first time you fight him. That will also kinda suck.

What Square should have done is have the enemies drop, gil, tomestones, gear, rare mats, anything at all really, even if they only drop once a run or something, that would give incentive to fight the mobs. Instead they added more mobs because, AK needed it?

Weird

I want all the endgame content in dungeons, they are the best part of the game. More dungeons, less fates, less fetch quests.

I hope this is where they put most of their time now.

I still have no idea what end game is, I'll probably think about it once I finished leveling marauder, all I'm interested is fighting the new bosses or killing shit in new dungeons, not all that interested in grinding for gears.

And what would you suggest ?

I can't see any way of doing it where it would be fair to both sides.

If people don't want to grind gear at end game, maybe they shouldn't be doing end game or perhaps playing an MMO at all :S (MMO's are built on grind after all)

I'm sure once they add higher ilvl gear and dungeons they will make the lesser stuff easier to obtain though.

Wonder if they will ever do a gauntlet dungeon where you fight 3 very hard bosses in a row and your party is only allowed to wipe once for the entire thing? Make the loot something really special but very challenging to obtain without being a grind. Make it more about skill/class knowledge.

I hope they don't think like you do

What kind of endgame content do you want? For me the dungeons are the place with the most player interaction. The only time there is a reason to talk to people in the game (other than fc) is for dungeons. They are the only place that requires the players to coordinate with eachother, everything else might as well be single player. There are better single player games IMO.

Does Bahamut's Coil or whatever actually drop loot from bosses? I feel like that's one thing missing from the end-game. I mean, they have it on the hard mode primals and it's fun seeing what weapon will drop. But it's missing on the other two 8 man raids. Running AK nonstop for ilvl60 gear isn't really end game to me. It's just filler gear while you get *real* end game gear.

Was just about to post this, as a healer I've experienced this so many times. Trying to get the last cast off then move, you run out of the line in time but nope you still get hit. Needs fixing ASAP, it's literally game breaking for raiding.

The thing here is, it's not the kb that killed her it's the fact that whenever he does a landslide it also makes the platform smaller. So, running just out of the "motorway" like I call it is not enough. Best run out and towards the middle to make sure you are not out on the areas that will break/get smaller.

If that makes any sense..
I tried to pause the video and it seems that she falls because the floor under her crumbles as the platform gets smaller.

i agree they could add better incentives to the regular mobs, make them more fun, give them a low % chance to drop crafting stuff or a very low % to drop really good gear. ideally, i'd like them to have a chance to spawn very hard booses that could wipe you in seconds and put you at the beginning of the dungeon with reset mobs. just to counteract people that want everything easy and speedy, playing this game half asleep all the time. wake them up and make them pay.

but you cant make those changes overnight. i'm greatful they stopped exploit runs right now.

It is weird that they dont give you anything for killing the mobs at high levels. Gil rewards would be nice. Something would be nice.
Im not at endgame yet so its all new to me but I never really considered the fact that at 50, you literally get nothing from killing those trash mobs.

Bring back BCNMs. No dungeons, no trash mobs, just boss fights with low drop rates :P

I'm not talking about endgame, I'm talking about support. You said you wanted them to focus all on dungeons.

To keep interest in your MMO, you need to focus on everything. Endgame should also not be so narrow either way, variety is needed.

MMO's are built on grind.

I wish I knew a way to fix it and that if I did, SE would listen. I'm not even stating to remove the grind, just letting you grind it out in other ways as well. End game gear is only available through tomes which are only available through dungeons. There are no side options here and no other ways to grind out tomes.

I will say weekly limits were a good idea and feel that it may have been a better solution to solving the overfaming issue instead making players kill trash mobs that offer nothing but additional repair bills.

Someone mentioned earlier that tomes should be dropped by mobs at AK, at least. I would agree with that since it would give a reason for people to clear 'em out.

Speed running is basically the tank training every mob up to the boss. Everyone else follows and hides in a corner while the tank dies. The mobs all return to their spots, the healer raises the tank and they proceed to fight to boss while skipping every trash mob.

It only works in this MMORPG because Square-Enix has different aggro mechanics. In pretty much every other game in existence, if one person gets aggro, everyone gets aggro, and on top of that when you pull a boss it pulls every last surviving enemy to it.

It is weird that they dont give you anything for killing the mobs at high levels. Gil rewards would be nice. Something would be nice.

It's not weird at all, they want to avoid the case of people going into the instance just to farm trash.

So....a bit late to the party, when I heard okay this was actually good I tried to get a CE of the game but was of course too late to get one. Had some things to do so put it off until I began to read more good things and thought screw it, I want it. And that included the CE, looked online and they were going for absurd prices.

Finally found where could get them for still slightly absurd prices, the UK! So I thought hell why not, cost me essentially 150 when it was said and done due to the currency change etc. I sucked it up and patiently waited.

Today it came! So I make my SE account, then I go to finish the game registration and.....of course the region is an issue it turns out. So now I'm left wondering what to do.

Anyone else been in this situation? Got any clue on how to proceed.

No, the trash mobs don't directly drop anything of value. But it's pretty clear that the team considers the tomes a reward for clearing the mobs AND the bosses. Not just skipping all the mobs and doing the bosses only. That is how they've decided to balance these dungeons. That is your reason for killing them.

I get it if you don't like that, but I'm trying to figure out why people are insisting that these mobs aren't worth anything because they are.

I could get behind that, though the only way to get truly end game gear was through Dynamis for relic armor and weapons in early FFXI. The thing was that you could easily do end game without having that gear. Getting it was the goal, but not having it didn't lock you out from being able to run Sky.

Here you need some of the gear to be able to progress to Coil and finish up your relic quest. I'm not surprised that they went with higher level item gear, but they already have stuff planned up through ilvl 90. 90? Why the massive jump there? We don't need several 5-10 lvl jumps in gear this early on at all. Offer dungeon drop gear at like 51-52, darklight/AF +1 at 55 and AF2/Equivalents at 60 and bring down difficulties to match or add new dungeon mechanics and make people think on their feet instead of dungeons as solely gear checks.
