I'm glad I bothered to read the article and watch the video. She seems like a genuinely good person, and a professional (and more involved in the gaming industry than most people on gaf..). I just simply wish her the best.

Also, not sure I'd call a failed marriage, losing a house, working at an EB Games and doing creepy modeling jobs in Detroit until eventually using every penny to fly to Japan then go to E3 once home an "easy way" into the industry.
I always liked Chobot, she seemed genuine in her interest in gaming and I hope she does well. I never understood why people we're so quick and more importantly eager to just shoot her down and rip her apart. Her appearance in ME3 was pretty bad, but so inconsequential I didn't care, and the PSP licking is just whatever you can't base anything off that.

I think the larger problem with her appearance in ME3 isn't that it's terrible, but that it's totally inappropriate for someone working at IGN to receive money for being in a game if IGN is going to review it. It's gross.

When was writers in the gaming industry all of a sudden all George RR. Martin's? Please.. None of them are amazing, some not even much better than her.
Awesome piece by Polygon. I always loved Jessica and didn't really know anything about that PSP thing. I also liked the girl fight podcast, it was a lot of fun to listen to it.

Why is being genuinely interested in games supposed to impress me? Millions of people are genuinely interested in games, but that doesn't mean they have anything worthwhile to contribute to the coverage of games or creation of games. And none of us are anything special either, but Polygon isn't making a mini-doc on me or you to convince anyone that we have a valuable perspective on this industry when we don't.

I don't get why people are so worried about her writing tbh. If it ends up being bad, well, yet another video game with a shit story. Outlast had a laughable story (literally, I'm not just bashing it) and the game was still cool and everyone loved it, why can't we just wait and see? If the story sucks, one more to the pile.
No one has anything against a hot woman in the game industry. There are plenty of those. Just the untalented ones. If this was some idiot bloke deciding he wanted to write a game, i'd have the same attitude

If you had people constantly questioning you and your gender's authenticity you would bring it up as well.
I mean, cool I guess? She doesn't really seem like someone substantial enough to do an entire report on. At least, in my opinion. But whatever. It's still a good report. Say what you will about Polygon, but their pieces like this have been great. Still loved the one on the voice actor that did John Marston. I guess to be fair, he's hasn't been in the industry that long (so she's had more of an impact). I guess what really matters is whether the story is interesting.

What's wrong with wanting to make a documentary about yourself? It's not for profit, no one is being forced to watch it, and they're not trying to say she's better or more important than anyone else. She's a figure in gaming and the industry, whether other people want to recognize and respect that or not.
And it's really naive to act like her being a woman is not an issue for some people.
