I really wish they made it so quests didn't dry up or that anything other than fates provided decent HP. The grind from 40+ is making me think I'll give up on the game before 50, I'm 43 right now and imagine that things will only get worse from here on up.

I dread having to farm FATEs to get to level 50. It's gonna be a long boring grind.

Do you think thats better then going all INT and use cleric stance?

If you go all int and use cleric stance, you'll cut your healing power by 20% and increase your damage by 10% just by using the skill, which defeats the purpose of being a healer.

Yeah. Cleric Stance is useful only to a Scholar, for open-world PvE so it's possible to play solo. You would rarely, if ever, use it in instances.

I'd have it by now if I weren't trying to finish the story quest.

It's a good idea for you to finish the story quest first since one o the best rewards for getting a 50 is
50% exp bonus to all subsequent DoW/DoM classes
. That will surely make it easier.

And unfortunately it's not even very useful for them since they have a lot of natural INT from passives even if they don't put any extra INT into the allocations for SMN. It's easier just to switch to SMN for soloing in either case.

As point out already, Cleric stance reduces your healing by 20% flat. So 100 Hp cures become 80 HP cures, etc. That makes your healing less effective overall which negates the bonus you get from the swap.

15/15 is the most even split. If you expect to play one more than the other but still play the other from time to time, 20/10 or even 25/5 might be up your alley.

You can stack your preferred stat through gear and many other stats are beneficial as well. For SCH as an example, Crit heals are incredibly beneficial because Shield effects that their unique heals give are doubled as well.

Is it bad that I'm 6 levels above the story right now? I think I went overboard on FATE farming - got to 32 and my story quests are up to 24. My next dungeon is Haukke Manor.

Nope, that's very good. If you keep your level right with the story, it'll eventually get ahead of you as it likes to jump several levels, especially in the 40s where it goes from like 44 to 47 to 49.

Oh that's good, I'm waiting on a friend to catch up so we can do Toto Rak together and I'm getting close to level 36 already.

What is with the stupid gil sellers? They keep sending me freaking shouts...

I heard they froze digital sales. Is that over or is there an estimated date they will open or is it even safe to get yet?

I'm interested but if this month is a bust too I'm gonna grab Air Conflicts Vietnam.

I'll one-up you. I'm halfway to Level 37 and I only just cleared Haukke Manor.

It's not a bad thing that you're ahead of the leveling process, though [as Aeana mentioned]. It means less FATE-farming when all of the Main Story/Side-Quests run out. Actually, it might mean little-to-no FATE-farming!

Hey fellas, is there a thread or link around here to help a brotha out?

Havent played a final fantasy online since 11 some yrs ago and im really interested in devoting my time into this and getting the most out of it, sorry if this post is out of place.

hehe.

I'm almost 37 and as mentioned, just beat Brayflox. I will run that a few times to complete the set and then run the Sunken Temple to get a new weapon. Game is crazy addictive.

More specifics on what you need would be helpful.

It really is.

I don't even mind not getting loot [or, at least, it doesn't bother me as much as other MMO's did]. The game is just so much fun to play that it doesn't really upset me.

I'm looking forward to hitting Brayflox, though. I've heard a lot of great gear drop there and it would be nice [but not required!] to outfit myself with it.

Invites for the FC are tonight, right? I'm trying to decide when I should log on.

I really don't understand the complaints about Arcanist being boring. Now level 30 and I've:

-healed in 3 dungeons, was better than on Conjurer as I already unlocked Stone Skin on White Mage, which means I can use Stone Skin as sub skill on a level 10 Arcanist, which is pretty awesome
- tanked in 2 dungeons
- sub-tanked in 2 dungeons when the main tank was either bad or the adds overran us because of subpar DDs
- tanked and healed lowlevel Ifrit

All of the above while showering the enemies in constant DoTs that stack. Nearly unlimited MP as well, because of those MP drain abilities - which, again, is better than Conjurer.

Playing this class was the most fun I had in either 14-1 or 14-2. You probably shouldn't play it as a DD-only class. As such, spamming Ruin is pretty boring, indeed.
I guess it's a mistake that the duty finder classifies it as a DD class. It should fit in every slot, especially in the lower levels.

Me and some of the coolest goldsmith's on Ultros :)

Holy crap with Square Enix support. I want to reset my security question and after a week they answered "please use the chat support, we can't do this over e-mail." but the option to use it never appears. I tried using another type of ticket "account information change" and it asks for my security question to proceed. UGH.

I can't call since I'm not in the US and it'd be expensive. I hate everything.

It's not very practical end game. To tank that is. Healing as a SCH is fine and DD as a SMN is fine.

Been running Brayflox's a bunch to get the entire Cavalry set. This is going to take a while. I just got the Cuirass in the last run I did but I am still missing the gloves, boots, and pants.

Running with a friend as well but he usually loses his dice rolls to other DPS' which is frustrating.

I just cleared out Sastasha for the first time with a Duty Finder group. It took a little bit to get into a group (like half an hour), but... oddly enough, the experience was pretty pleasant compared to the horror stories that occurred for many others. The group members were nice, the tank always marked his target and aggro'd well (and whenever something fell through the cracks, we took care of it), and the other DPS and healer were good.

Of course, this may have been due to how the tank clearly knew what he was doing (he knew which mobs to pull and which ones to leave alone, and he warned us about the mob reinforcements in the boss battle ahead of time).

I don't know if I was playing archer wrong, but I made sure to keep up debuffs (through feint and venomous strike) in addition to the other standard rotations for my level range. And picking up Second Wind and Internal Release early definitely helped. Let's see how the other dungeons hold up when things probably start to become more involved (in other words, lets see if this duty finding session was a fluke).

is dungeon farming really so big a deal sub 50? I went ahead and got ARM to 45 before level 23 and HQ gear looks competitive, if not better, and much easier to acquire than a lot of that stuff.

I normally run through a dungeon once for the story [as well as any possible loot] and then move on. Haukke Manor, though, I've run numerous times. For some reason it's such an enjoyable dungeon [I'm guessing the music, atmosphere, and story surrounding it has something to do with it].

Also, is it just me or does Lady Amandine's scream [when she's awakened] sound like one of the Great Fairies from Ocarina of Time [when they're summoned]?

I had a very similar experience last night. They were all very polite and friendly. The tank died pretty quickly in the final boss and we all got killed afterwards. No one complained, they even made some jokes about it. We regrouped and kicked his ass.

It was a real pleasure to play with people like that, I hope to have the same experience in the future dungeons.

Yeah i'm not meaning to hate on dungeons, i've been running them all so far and having a blast, but sticking around and farming them for gear i'll outlevel just wasn't clicking with me.

Some of the gear sets are really awesome.

I like how people are like "Grinding dungeons for gear no way!" but end game "LETS GRIND A DUNGEON FOR GEAR".

well you kind of need to do that to do end game stuff

clearing sub 50 dungeons for gear is mostly for vanity

also amdapor gives greens in every chest while everything else only gives you one green at the last chest
