Also, any thread whining of any sort.

"I don't like this topic, so I'm going to tell everyone how much I disapprove of it!"

It's just so stupid. You don't like the thread? Don't open it. Don't read it. Ignore it, and move on with your day.

At the moment people who take on some stupid personality that has to do with their name, and usually refer to themselves in the third person, it just seems stupid to me, along with those who like to put their name at the end of their post like we can't see it right next to what they are writing already.

I will also never understand how people post news in the wrong side of the forum, it is pretty easy to see whether you are in Gaming or Off-topic.

BREAKING:

These two really grind my gears, there's no need to sort paragraphs out yourself, especially those who can't even do it well leaving sentence structure all over the place and the random sentence that goes on much longer than others before a link break. "Breaking" in the title is also silly, rarely is anything truly breaking, and by the time most see it the news is no longer breaking, it doesn't need to be in the title.

I HATE that this guy gets posted in every food thread. Doesn't make me laugh at all.

i don't even understand what this is supposed to be.

Using the term "GAF hivemind" or referring to GAF as a single entity to insult or disparage a group of people's opinions in a thread. You're posting here as well so don't think you're an exception.

Man, I see that kind of stuff on Reddit all the time. It's like everyone on Reddit hates the site but uses it everyday.

Seriously though, the barrage of posts that arrive in an OT thread that was erroneously posted on the gaming side that "humorously" point out the error via a variety of horribly unfunny and irritating puns. You are not getting any solid pats on the back for your witticisms you god damned idiots.

Threads titles with inconsistent capitalization. Sentence case, title case, I don't care but I swear some people just choose which words to capitalize randomly.

Thread about lists. Posters just post their own thing with minimal discussion.
"Favorite games to play on the pooper"
"Dumbest character designs"

Teenagers/early 20s with no life experience trying to give out important life advice.

Circlejerks.

Responding to everything with reaction GIFs.

Edit: Oh yeah, saying "dead", "dying" or anything like that instead of "haha".

Has anyone ever actually posted like this?

people who post shitty gifs of celebrities blinking or looking up or eating some food item or whatever.

Yeah, this is the one that gets me the most. Really obnoxious how people will do this in any kind of situation.

X thread? X thread. Bugs the fuck out of me.

"You're posting your opinion as if it is fact" or any of the similar sentiments. Obviously, to the person stating their opinion, it is fact. So if someone says "____movie was stupid, unfunny, and not interesting", you shouldn't be able to say "You're stating your opinion as if it is fact". What happened to "I thought it was funny, not stupid, and pretty interesting" instead of being condescending for no reason. It has been driving me bonkers lately.

Brackets in thread titles.

I can read I don't need brackets to tell me what the thread is about. And if for some reason I do, you should probably think of a better name for your thread.

When thread titles get updated the changes are usually put in square brackets to draw attention to them.

Editing a post to quote someone who posted after your post. Just make another reply.

Yep.

"IMO"

Go suck a fuck you stupid prick. I know it's your fucking opinion, you typed your stupid fucking response in the text box assigned to your username. Get bent fuck face.

Stupid POP GAF slang

people prefacing statements with "So"

Stupid threads that nobody would ever give two shits about in real life. I think some people are just desperate for interaction they come up with the most inane topics.

The Pollyannas and bleeding hearts in politics threads with no concept reality.

I can't stand when the first 30 posts in a thread are people trying to make the most obvious and unfunny possible puns. If it's a clever pun, fine. But when it's a thread about a guy getting hit in the balls with something, saying, "That's nuts!" is not fucking funny. It's the opposite of funny.

OT's that have some random in joke into them, instead of taking the opportunity to make a slogan of product to enhance the interest in it. Instead it pushes people away since they don't understand what the heck they are talking about.

People Quoting a Dictionary to explain the definition of a word, because of some petty disagreement or in order to prove a point.

When the first post dictates the mood of the entire topic. (hurts discussion)

Mods daring, announcing or bragging about Banning someone. I felt it's a bit tacky and should be done privately.

"GAF, I have my whole life ahead of me...I'm only 20"

Holy shit, I wanted to punch that dude in the face. What an idiot.

Going into a thread having read nothing more than the thread title and the OP, not reading whatever the OP links to or any replies, and then dropping a one-liner that was tired five topics ago. At least Ctrl+F through the thread and realize you are the tenth person to make a Kickstarter joke in a thread with Penny Arcade in the title/fifth person to make a PRISM or NSA joke in a Microsoft thread/whatever.

Going into a thread having read nothing more than the thread title and the OP, not reading whatever the OP links to or any replies, then asking a question that has been asked and answered three times a page for the past five pages.

Really it's just people who seem to think threads only really start when they show up. I get not having time to read everything in a huge thread, or a fast-moving thread, but at least skim the first and last couple of pages to get an idea of the conversation.

Those "beaten" posts where people go back and edit their post to point out that someone posted what they said before they did.

Threads titles asking about stuff no one can really know the answer to, this mostly (only) happens on gaming side.

"this needs to stop"

The OP who just disappears from the thread. Just leaves the whole thread hanging while everybody is asking questions. Not like they stopped posting on the forum either.

Why? That would just result in a higher rate of double posts.
Double post are two posts made back to back by the same person.

1) I make a post.

2) You make a post after me.

3) I reply to you in this post instead of going back up to edit my post with your reply in #1.

It's not a double post and it's annoying as it throws off the flow.

Edit: I think you might have misunderstood what I meant. ThoseDeafMutes gives the exact example of what I'm talking about.

this so fucking much.

Pretty clever, jtb. Pretty clever.

People who quote the entire first post and then just say something like,

Yep.

It's fucking annoying, especially if the first post has a ton of pictures.

edit
Sorry, FUBUR

Haha. It's not that bad, but when it goes overboard I can't help but roll my eyes. Case in point,
"IMO"

This is such a great example I have to think this dude is doing it on purpose.

Things I think are dumb and are posted way too often:

Dat
First post nails it
bu-bu-buh
aaand were done here...

These two aren't as bad but they are still used way to often, gaf is like in love with these words:

Stockholm syndrome
cognitive dissonance

Threads about forum posting habits that annoy because it's useless bitching. Yes, I'm so meta.
Also, "common myth" threads because they turn into Cracked levels of bullshit and do nothing to debunk those myths.

Not a single person has said

"People who sign their own posts with their name, or some other bullshit word"?

Drives me crazy.

PEACE.

Has anyone ever actually posted like this?

I see a guy who always posts like that. I often wonder if that's intentional or maybe it's something with his phone or something.

It has to be intentional because the number of characters in a line (at least on this forum and any other one that scales to the window size) varies based on how large the window is so no matter how the text is received, even on a phone, it will automatically format the line to fit the space without the user needing to define it.
