Olimar can't use Pikmin in the 3DS version confirmed!!

Well, it's been a while since we saw Olimar...

Hah, Sakurai plays Captain Obvious with his Miiverse comment: "Here's the 3DS version of Captain Olimar and an upside down Link."

Man, people still don't get how silly their post will look in another 24 hours when they link directly to the Smash Bros. website's daily.jpg, huh?

Anyways, the Miiverse post:
Masahiro Sakurai said:
Pic of the day. Here's the 3DS version of Captain Olimar and an upside down Link.

I'm kind of impressed with how detailed Olimar's suit looks on the 3DS. You'd think a lot of the little details would be lost shrinking him down, but they actually look mostly intact.

I guess that's the benefit of losing the Pikmin, though.

People were throwing Pikmin at that joke fast.

Got beaten then dragged to an Onion nest before I could even type Wollywog.

Link is obviously checking out Olimar's spaceman butt.

Maybe Upside Down Link is replacing Toon Link?

1080p 60 fps confirmed yes, we dont know about the 3DS version but im sure sakurai is gonna try to maintain 60fps on the handheld version.

Yeah I know that on WiiU the developers aim for 60fps on full HD, but I was wondering about 3DS, because if they get the game as fluid it will be no doubt the most impressive graphic achievent on the console.

melee and brawl were almost technical achievements so he possibly could get it all up and running on the 3DS with 60fps

So we have now seen every revealed character on 3DS and WiiU, right? Anyone that still needs to be shown on 3DS (besides the Pikmin)?

I hope people are not serious about Oli losing his Pikmin...

He could work like Kirby's Olimar hat in Brawl. The Pikmins appear immediately for his attacks and then die afterwards. That'd likely mean the 3DS characters would have a different balance compared to the Wii U's though.

Although, if they did that, then reducing the number of Pikmin in the Wii U would have been pointless. If that's really what's going on, they might have tried to have 3 Pikmin in the 3ds version but it didn't work well, and that's why it took so long for Olimar 3ds shots. And, now, if we are really getting an Olimar that only gets Pikmins to attack in the 3ds, they could go back and increase the amount of Pikmins in the Wii U version, since they aren't matching perfectly anyway.

Olimar's entire moveset is based around having Pikmin on hand and using them to fight for you. He would be a useless character if he lost all of his one set of Pikmin, which I don't see happening at all.

Kirby is different; that is only a temporary power.

What? He wouldn't be useless. He'd actually be stronger than before since he'd technically always have Pikmin appear for his attacks. That's why he'd need to be rebalanced if he ends up working like that in the 3ds. Look at the example I've mentioned. While Olimar can only throw Pikmins that he has picked from the ground before and are still alive, Kirby can just throw them without worrying about anything. Now, think about something like that but for Olimar's entire moveset.

Edit: Although, now that I think about it, they'd also need to change some of his B attacks if they were to implement him like that. B and down B would have no reason to exist, after all.

Ohhh, I read your comment wrong. My bad.

Yeah, I can see this happening as a solution if they have trouble with managing so many Pikmin at once, but I think getting him to work as he regularly does should be the priority.

I love how when something that should be there isn't there, we all assume its been cut. :p

No Pikmins to the 3DS version, I see.

We don't know that, but I hope not.

Anyways, the Miiverse post:

I know, but I was referring to Richie, who must have done a stealth edit (like I just did in my previous post, funnily enough). It's really no big deal, though.

If it's not really big deal to you then why would you bother to post it? I do agreed with you there since I saw the first thread and I kept seeing current pictures instead of old pictures with different kind of information. It was amusing to read those posts.

I actually thought of that long time ago when 3DS being limitation appeared in the article, but one thing bothered me is that it wouldn't make Smash Olimar a Olimar, if you get what I meant. No way that they would get rid of summonable pikmins.

lol yeah

Edited: I'm working on my crystal ball. It look so vague that I'm not sure if I'm reading this thing correctly. My crystal ball is telling me that we might find out that we are getting Direct today or tomorrow at about 10oclock in morning (ESTish) But at same time, it's all about vague so I'm not sure.

Yeah, I'm joking around but I'm predicting that we are getting Direct Announcement today or tomorrow at 10ish (EST) If not then we wouldn't get TGS Direct at all which would be Nintendo's first time not doing anything before TGS.
