Go to AK for gear and ifrit hard. Both can be done with gear not obtained in endgame. AK has some nice upgrades.

As someone pointed out, AK and Ifrit will do you fine. You're about where you should be.

AK is designed for fresh-ish 50s, despite what most people think, so you can run it easily, especially because you have a i55 weapon.

Thanks guys. I was afraid of being locked to do Castrum 24/7...

I don't have any expectations, but, I'd love it if they released "Hard Mode," versions of the earlier dungeuns, for people at the End Game. I mean, just simply raising the level of the Mobs/bosses, and adding better loot, would do it. It'd give people at the end-game, uninterested in leveling up another class, something else to do until they got around to adding new quests, dungeons, etc.

Pretty much. Any sort of incentive would be nice. Those first dungeons are fun, although painfully easy, and I would like to revisit it at some point. Maybe I will try and tank Sastasha on my bard or something for fun.

They should do what other MMOs are doing and make hard modes of all previous dungeons with extra Tomes given for instance-finder completions because the dungeons in this game are great and worth going back.

Imagine doing Tam Tam again, but there are soul collectors all over the place and the sub-bosses and main boss have newer, deadlier mechanics. I would love this so much :)

Ya this seems like an easy way to make a lot of fun content.

Quests, leves, FATEs, hunting log, that's what tided me over for the grind... I did mostly mor dhona leves... Got some nice lv45 aetherial gear from chests as well... If a FATE popped in my vicinity I joined... For my first lv50, I didn't have to exclusively grind with FATE.. The biggest grind for me was 47-49 as I ran out of quests and the story required me to be lv49.. Thank goodness for linked FATEs...

Also I realized that if you don't have any good AoE attacks for fates... Just tag as much enemies as you can to get the gold ranking... If course being in a party is best for the kill exp... But since I was duty finding at the same time, that wasn't an option for me.

So getting up to a 18s with both therm and archer.. It's getting hard to solo duties but since I can't play 24/7 it's hard to find groups.

Yeah, finding a group as a DPS can be a chore since the game is saturated with them. If you want to level up fast, albeit excluding yourself from some of the role mechanics, you could FATE grind. I took my PLD from Lv.20ish to Lv.50 over the weekend in FATE grind and still made time to get dinner and drinks with friends. FATEs are so good that I wonder if they'll be nerfed in the future.

Ya this seems like an easy way to make a lot of fun content.

Perhaps the first content patch in November will hook us up :P

A bunch of quests open up at level 48 inside the Waking Sands at Vesper Bay, although they're nowhere near enough to level to 49.

They are doing hard mode dungeons - first few are coming in the 2.1 patch

I kinda figured they were, but I meant as a means of tidying people over until 2.1. I myself have no problem with waiting, I haven't even reached the end-game yet, and once I do I'm going to split my time between endgame content, and leveling up additional jobs.

But, it'd be nice if they could release, "a few pieces," of the content they've been saving up for 2.1, to give some of the less patient souls something to do until said update. My read is that 2.1 is going to be a fairly major update, with a LOT of additional content. If any of that is already ready to go, I'd consider releasing it early.

Like I said, I'm not getting my hopes up however, nor is waiting a deal-breaker for me.

BTW

I seem to recall hearing something about them adding some content before 2.1. Namely, additional quests, to help level up additional classes. I think they were calling it, Daily Quests, or something.

Did I mis-hear, or is that something we should be expecting sooner rather than later?

I don't think they've formally announced any plans, but from what I know of the past, YoshiP prefers to push out smaller updates from bigger patches when possible.

I wouldn't expect anything too early right now though, they're still in launch month hell, and with digital sales resuming today, they're about to get slammed with a fresh wave of players... and we're not far off from a fall rush as well.

That's not going to impede internal development from teams that have nothing to do with operations, but it will probably have an impact on what and when they want to roll out updates.

That's why I'm not getting my hopes up for any major content updates. Some minor stuff would be nice, but I'm not expecting even minor content updates before mid October.

By then, some additional low level quests to help me level additional jobs, will be a Godsend.

I wouldn't expect anything till Oct at least. Probably when they expect to patch in the Halloween event content at the latest.

But with Flare you can't really Thunder (at least Thunder 3) during that tick; it's the time spent waiting for Umbral 3 to kick in after a tick of Umbral 1 (around 500) minus cast cost for Blizzard 3 under Umbral (225) brings you back below T3's cost (475). You could cast 1 or 2, but the cast and its Thundercloud procs would both be weaker.

And of course, the Flare approach is -worse- for adapting to the situation on the ground since it ties you up in a longer cast and cuts you off from potential Firestarter procs.

Situations where the boss predictably goes inactive are definitely candidates to end with Trans, though, which makes Flare viable if you time it perfectly. And of course if you want to be hitting two or more mobs at once it shines.

Flare -> Ether (120mp) -> Blizzaga (I think some heathens call this Blizzard III)

Managed to do the first and last enemies in bikinis.
Demon Wall we nearly got it

LOL in bikinis, nice! Check this out, I've been tanking with friends in Gathering/Crafting gear to convert materia out of and it's been pretty easy so far as a PLD. Did some CM speeds and AK looking like a farmer.

I wonder when the dx11 client will be released, and the barber shop.

DX11 client is going to be so awesome with whatever gets cooked up for SweetFX :)

Now I was wondering, if I use my Champion Lance and it gets binded to me, I wouldnt be able to trade it later for the Relic quest, right?

So long as you keep hate, it's all gravy.
People get so angry though, 1/2 the time I just swap gear once we get rolling and no one notices.

why even bother blacklisting? Tell is utterly useless because of gold spammers, might as well just filter it all out.

Only useful for party finding, and next update should bring party finder right?

You will be able to give it to the NPC, if you meant to get melded. If you right click on a player one of the options is "request meld materia" so you don't have to trade bind items.

I like this idea, but I think I like it even more as Flare->Convert->Fire->Blizzaga->Ether->Thundaga->Firaga. Solves the question of where I'd cram the extra macro, too.

Edit: Hm, actually, if I can drop it every minute with this... Gonna have to play with that later and see how it meshes with the tick jankiness.

Hahaha, same here! I did do that in DF and got mixed reactions: one group got maaaaad and another were flipping out at how good I was doing. PLD mitigation is really good. Easy materia, easy life.

It's fine, I've never been one to check people's gear. I don't give a damn so long as we finish whatever we're doing.

Thanks. Yeah mine is melded. I just didnt know if I could use the weapon for a while, and trade it later, to the NPC even if it gets bound to me

Are you supposed to get down the wall before the bees? We've never been able to do it, not even close..

Bees are supposed to pop at the halfway point of the fight I believe, as in he's move half the distance he can before a party wipe from the black stuff popping in the back end as well.

I agree the account system is not very user friendly; however, on the Mog Station go to Square Enix Account Settings > List Subscriptions:

There you'll see the information you're seeking:

8netjs4.png

It charges you a lump sum for the entire time subscribed. Veteran rewards will be given out for time paid for upfront; you don't have to actually wait out the 30-90 days.
Can anyone else confirm this works? Really want to race change, but I still have 20 days left on the free sub.
