Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | September 2013 | Token Indie Thread

Has that game any hype in Japan? Seemed cool until they announce it was another fucking hunting game. I would have loved if the game were a true ARPG (something more like FF Crisis Core, KH, Ys or even an open world RPG). We have that genre covered and it looks too similar to God Eater.
Not really, from what I've seen they're pretty damn different. The only thing they have in common is the anime look.

I'm a bit skeptical since it's the original game is a mobile game, but if this is something entirely new simply using the assets, then it might be a decent game. The Vita needs an Armored Core-esque game to come out and this could fit the bill.

I haven't posted this in a while, so for those unaware we do have a spreadsheet with a list of VitaGAF PSN IDs. The link to it is hidden in email tags, so quote this post to see it!

In japan, other than some gundam game i guess, there's a download only game called assault gunners

On the japanese store there's a demo, i love its smoke trails.

The game is easily playable even without understanding japanese but when it comes to mech customization...

For hack and slash, there's Valhalla Knights 3 out soon, though XSEED compares it more to a "single player MMO" than Diablo. There's also Sorcery Saga, which descends from the same heritage as Diablo, but has the big caveat of being turn-based.

Sorcery Saga? What is this? When is this? Where is this?

Sei Madou Monogatari, aka. Sorcery Saga: Curse of the Great Curry God. Cutesy mystery dungeon/rogulike game developed by Zerodiv. It's based on the franchise that spawned Puyo Puyo, but with new characters since Sega owns the originals. Coming next year from Aksys.

I know what a roguelike is, I just find that the term has been watered down so much recently that using it tends to just confuse the discussion more often than not (people think you're talking about twitchy platformers or something).
...Now ain't that the sad truth. :(

Armored core vita definitely needs to happen. I don't know if I feel like rebuying the psp ac games again.

Thanks for that list, too. I was just lookin for it this morning too, as I have gotten a few FR's and want to check some peeps.

I couldn't care less about online multiplayer, even moreso on a portable platform. I downloaded it, saw it was only about multiplayer, said "meh" and never got around to try it while I was at home with an Internet connection.

well... according to people the SP is super short and repetitive and not really worth it.

and since you don't care for online multiplayers then the game is not for you, and I can see this problem with many other people, the game might bomb because of the bad SP.

not sure whether to buy
Tales of Graces f
Ayesha
for my PS3 :/

Didn't play Ayesha, but for Tales of Graces:

It's a game with a great combat system and a shitty story / characters (I mean, shitty even by Tales standard, that are not usually masterpieces in that regard xD). Basically the game follows a Naruto/Sasuke kind of story with the main character pursuing a childhood friend. Characters are generally meh, with two of them annoying as hell and only one character that is good.

The battle system, on the other hand, is awesome. Is a lot better than the Xillia's one and the best 3D one in the series (played Abyss, Vesperia, Graces and Xillia).

IMO, it's worth its price. I payed 40 euros and didn't regret. The story/characters/voice acting is better than Star Ocean 4. Or at least is less annoying. For 20 bucks it's a good purchase.

Question

I currently cannot get on the wifi for my Vita. I previously uploaded a save file to the cloud. Is there a way for me to get that save file and put it on my Vita from a PS3 system? I can use the wired connection on my PS3.

Thanks!

It's not that short. I've put in a bunch of hours already and I've only completed the first mission thrice and the second mission once. And I still have another attempt to make at mission one too.

Then again, I'm not in a hurry to rush my way through the campaign as fast as possible and I actually LIKE trying the alternate paths to complete a mission. And the best part is that your unlocks are shared between multi and single player -- so if I fire it up and play some multi and buy a new weapons, I automatically have it in the single player and vice versa.

So yeah, it's short if you're in a hurry to complete it.
If you play normally and like a challenge, it's not short at all.

As far as BAD SP goes? Get the fuck out of here. It's excellent.

Is KZ:M littered with multiplayer trophies, or is it sensible in that respect?

There's a few multiplayer ones that are unbelievably aggravating.
Get ranked at Ace level, 10 kill streak, get tranquilized but don't die, have a VAN-guard land on you....
Most of the trophies are SP though, I think. Over 60%, if I had to guess.

Sine Mora is pretty cool, the weapon upgrades are neat and the slo-mo nicely. Art and presentation is slick too. Not 100% sold on the time mechanic but I am getting used to it.

What I'd do for a new Gradius...

Cheers. To be honest my inclination to play competitive MP is pretty much gone (though it wasn't that strong in the first place), so any extensive MP trophies just means I can forget going for the platinum.

Hardcore Risette Fan just randomly popped up! Yes!! First playthrough, in
Magatsu Inaba
!! I was really dreading the grind it would take to unlock that trophy, and I got it without paying too much attention. I just cycled party members and let people get low on health and keep their status ailments. I am SO happy right now. Yesssssssss!!

So can anyone tell me how good the story is in the new Ys game coming out?
I know some have already played the Japanese version while others have played the older version.

I really want to get into a jrpg but need something with a decent story.
dragon's crown just didn't do it for me. Don't hurt me gaf!

The story is decent, at best. The drive to play Ys games for me has never really been the plot, although I enjoy the subtle connections between games and characters. It's really all about the fast-paced action/RPG gameplay, difficulty, and music.

I hope you are right. The game premise is amazing. It remind me 1984 a little.

I really hate when they put MP trophies. What will happen when they shut down the servers? We won't really be able to get the platinum. And, eventhough they could still be open, most MP games are desert after the first month.

Ace card you can get in single player, along with letting a VAN-Guard landing on you. The second one is really easy on the third level since it always spawns in the same spot. The 10 kill streak one can be brutal though, it's a little easier in the free for all mode.

Bad single player? Killzone? Get that shit out of here, the single player campaign is the best SP FPS campaign available on a handheld console, I can't get enough of it.

Now I wish you hadn't bought another Vita...

There's no other reason to purchase the game if you aren't into the multiplayer

You people are crazy.

Thanks.

This makes me a lil sad :(

I managed the 10 killstreak one the other night by using recharging skyfire and staking out a corner of the map -- managing to kill 2-3 in between the skyfire uses ramped it up quicker and then I got it during the second skyfire use.

I'm a bit worried about that tranq gun one... that one seems like it'd be the worst to get...
I hadn't gotten far enough in SP to know about the other two -- thanks.

This is wrong, the single player is great! Lots of content there, with great variety and encouraging you to play with different gameplay styles.

If you haven't played the game you shouldn't spread BS about it. It's bad enough when you do it for games you actually played.

I got the tranq gun trophy really easily, just make sure you're playing Warzone and it should come in no time.

How are the PSP Armored Core games? AC: Last Raven Portable looks interesting.

Did you play and enjoy any of the PS2 games? These are the exact same games, and all three are good, so if you like one you will probably like them all. I just played them in the order they were released (AC3, Silent Line, Last Raven).

They play rough on the PSP, but a workable control scheme can be found on the Vita. The games are much like Monster Hunter FU, in that they got a deserved second chance once they were playable on the Vita.

Sine Mora is pretty cool, the weapon upgrades are neat and the slo-mo nicely. Art and presentation is slick too. Not 100% sold on the time mechanic but I am getting used to it.

What I'd do for a new Gradius...

I really wish SM was a little more straightforward. I liked it, but the countdown and slomo almost killed it for me.

How does hotline miami play on vita I was looking at the trophies and i kinda want to platinum it but if the controls are shitty then I don't want to waste money on it.

Totally worth it on the Vita. I am SO close to a platinum; I still can't get Always On Top!

since I'm top of page: everybody should buy Hotline Miami.

did you have any trouble getting Always On Top? It's frustrating me so much!

Also, I have a feeling Hotline Miami 2 is going to be 10x better than the first.. and that's saying something.
