In terms of impact, probably London calling or never mind the bollocks. Personally, I'd have to go with either New York Dolls (album) or Marquee Moon, though both kinda sorta don't fit the definition.

London Calling is as close to a genreless album as you're gonna get.
It has punk, rockabilly, ska, ballads, pop and swing.

It'd probably be easier to do a thread on punk singles instead. A lot of great bands got great records out in the 70s but didn't get a full album out until the 80s.
Also let's not become too argumentative in this thread with discussions on what is or isn't punk.
(Except for the Sex Pistols. They're not punk.)

Agreed.
It may not be the punk album of the 70's but (GI) was a pretty raw, filthy sounding album from 79. As short lived as they were, I really love The Germs.

Partially, but it's the whole package of everyone involved, one of the weakest 70s punk albums I've ever heard, too much "legend" around the band ("they said FUCK on TV once! The filth and the fury! Sid and Nancy). Just dull.
I don't hate the individual members. I like PiL alright. Even Rich Kids had a couple good songs.

I could do that tomorrow. Just need GAF to be cool with a topic like this, and for people to be okay with making it all encompassing. I'd make it so all styles are welcome be it the rock stuff or the more synth heavy material.

Damned Damned Damed was huge
These were the types of records that changed huge groups of people.
London Calling was more of a masterpiece than a game changer
Pink Flag was a display of how broad the movement could be.
Richard Hell and Modern Lovers were examples of incredible early pioneers.
All great stuff.

I thought pink flag was like..post punk.
Yeah, for being wasted out of his mind his playing and tone are really clean. He just plays with a lot of fire rather than a million notes. His solos are short riffs repeated a few times and yet they're iconic.
