Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | September 2013 | Token Indie Thread

The restructuring at Sony that has been going on the past 3 years has worked wonders. The company has made a complete 180 and even changed their image in the process. It was very smooth.

When you break down the 3 divisions... SCEA by far is the worst out of the 3.. Its staggering how much of a difference there is....

Its perplexing because isn't America one of the biggest markets that make up Sony's networth? If its not, then I understand the lack of attention that's played here

This is pretty spot on. SCE has made an incredible about-face in the last few years, yet SCEA still occasionally shits the bed. I don't understand it. Take the day-one releases & pre-loading. Why do they refuse to do implement in the same manner as SCEE? It seems so simple, but it's always a mess with big releases. The store in general is just frustrating to use.

Anyway, In sheer volume, NA might bring in more revenue, but perhaps Sony has a stronger foothold in EU and thus places more priority there?

They better get the PSN store up to parity by PS4's launch. Why would the US have a different (and inferior) store layout compared to the EU region? Not to mention stuff like better PSP and PSN availability, better PS+ deals, etc...

I'd say SCEJ is the worst out of the 3, and easily. They managed to lose the only thing they had going for them, which was Monster Hunter and the portable market. PS4 will bomb there for sure, and Vita will continue to do middling numbers.

MH being on 3DS was not up to SCEJ but Capcom. What makes you think that they didn't even try to ask them for VITA support? It is most likely that Capcom made the decision to go for 3DS and would have done the same on DS had it been a capable hardware like PSP.

Monster Hunter vita was be the epitome of the series. Controls would be amazing. They wouldn't be able to produce enough units fast enough if it were true.

which is why it won't happen

This annoys me at most, when it comes to the three parted buisness system of SCE.

Cant imagine, why this should be so hard, Microsoft did this for years.

As far as MH goes I'm convinced Capcom is just lazy. Why bother cranking out a proper successor to the PSP MHs when you can just release more of the same on the 3DS?
Just look at the WiiU version of 3G. They didn't even touch the weapon textures from the 3DS version, it's hideous and it runs at sub-60FPS..

Beautiful Screen, Dual Analog, Party Chat/Skype, Online.... Its literally built to deliver the goods on the genre

Which is why all the other hunting games went it.

I still hold out hope that 2014 will finally get Monster Hunter on Vita as well.

need some advice guys:

i am about to buy an OLED Vita but am struggling to see which of the available packages would mean the best value for me!

I am torn between any of the megapack(10 games) or racing packs which both come with an 8gb card OR the new Killzone pack (8gb card as well)

I really only want the VITA itself and am not interested in any of those bundled games! KillZone is the best of the bunch i suppose but then i'd rather not waste half of my 8 GB card already since it's a download :((((

Thing is it's STILL cheaper to grab one of the bundles than to get a regular Vita by ITSELF which costs even more ugh

I would go with the Killzone pack. You're probably going to end up buying a bigger memory card pretty quickly anyway, esepecially if you have PS+.

Buy the cheapest bundle you can find, you will soon or later(sooner than later lol) need to buy a bigger memory card anyway, just avoid the racing pack that seems to be the one with the worst games.

hmmm alright, however that 8 gb card will feel like a waste, maybe i should just sell that as well then if i'm gonna need a bigger one anyways :(

Get the bigger one, then sell the 8gb...

or you could use it to have a Japanese account and play PSO2, if you're into that

Finally got to play Terraria yesterday. Man, this is going to be amazing on the vita

I want to but I can't stand the old PS3 logo/binding. :/
hmm sigh. give me Folklore Vita

sadly SCE hate the game, they didn't even give it a cheap digital re-relese on PSN.

Heck I'd settle for Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate Vita version at this point .. since the US did not get Monster Hunter 3 PSP version.

I just noticed the HUD is 4:3 friendly.
Speaking of bigger memory cards: what's the best way to import a 64GB card? Are Play Asia and Nippon Yasan the only two options?
Amiami had it.
Other than that, likely eBay, and various Japan mail forwarding services.

Shit, I've just watched a IGN review in Youtube and the game looks amazing. And after that I read in the description that is directed by the father or Shin Megami Tensei.

I need to find a copy and play it soon.

PSP never got Monster Hunter 3. It got Monster Hunter Portable 3rd, which is actually a different game. Just look at the villages. MH3 has a lot of water stuff, MHP3rd has a heavy Asian aesthetic.

Cozy Okada was the Creative Producer. (he was the creative mind of the three Monster Kingdom games)

Oh wow, still $12 too much. Well, to be fair, it's probably about $4-$5 too much... I believe PJM HD should be about... $7-$8 like Velocity Ultra, for example.
Thanks for bringing back that week 1 PS+ discount that anyone who had any interest in the game already exercised!
Can't wait til this is free on PS+ next month as the Vita "full retail" title so that people who buy it in the sale can feel buyer's remorse and unbridled anger towards SCEA.

Random questions GAF bros...

I'm off for a week to my sister in law's wedding from tomorrow and I suddenly remembered I need to get my Plus sub sorted for the extra +90 days (UK based). Would any code work or does it have to be through Sony? Is there anywhere decently priced I could buy for online code delivery and get asap?

Also, my screen covers (whole front, back shiny bits) have all started to come off and lift at the edges. Is there any consensus on what whole screen + rear protector packs are best? I see the Sony official one cited a lot, but I'm unsure how much of the front that covers - I've become quite used to all the front being protected from finger smudges!

I use the official Sony one and it's as good as any screen protector I've ever used. It only covers the screen itself, though.

That's because it uses Type-0's assets, haha. It's a companion title to that game. Square Enix hopes to release Type-0 internationally first.

Not trying to be an arse here but how can it be a companion title if they hope to release Type-0 internationally first? Do you mean a companion title to the PSP Type-0 version?

edit ... I think I got what you are saying. It is a companion title to Type-0. In addition, they hope to release Type-0 internationally .. no?

Namco need to bring Digimon World Re:Digitize to the west as well. I'll take the PSP version running on Vita over Re:Digitize: Decode anytime.

Hey Euro VitaGAF, is the new boxing game worth it for $8?

Have it on Shield, not sure about the Vita version. it's alright nothing special, require timing and use of stamina more than skill (I'm not a boxing fan)

I told the Operation Decode people about that Gio guy, and this is what they replied with:

The fact is that the 3DS version does not just have "additional content", it's like a completely new game: it has three different storylines and the double of the original content. It's not like I would spit on the PSP version, absolutely, but the problem with it is that there already is a fan group who is working on a translation patch (and it's almost finished). That's why I don't think that asking for the PSP version would be very wise. The 3DS version is what really deserves them to concentrate on, in this case. (All the more so that 3DS is selling very much better than Vita)

Damn i just picked up SXT last month, oh well saves on mem card space.

It's hard to buy games on a whim sometimes because i think well i'll just see if it ends up on plus, now i'll just buy games i want, not just a random purchase anymore for the sake of it.

If they told me when I was a kid that Digimon was going to die miserably in the West, I'd had laughed. It was sooo big like 10-15 years. At least here in Spain it was as popular as Pokemon. The first season is still awesome T.T

I've read in other post that Final Fantasy X HD has a release date in Japan. December 2013; PS3 collection is for 8.000 yen, PS Vita games are 4.500 each.

It's very expensive for a HD remaster. But KH 1.5 was like 7.000 yens there and it costs 35-40 euros in EU. So we might get a 40-50 bucks release for PS3 and separated 25-30 for Vita. If the Vita version has a retail version, I mean.

.

Tamers was so good.

Frontier almost killed the franchise (it got saved later) but it's really Bandai fault for killing the Digimon games fanbase completely in the west with the way they handled the games, Digimon World games are good but shitty Bandai dropped the ball.

You have a link for this?

Personally, I think the price for these remasters is way too low in our side of the pond (if those Japanese prices are true, they reflect the value of this remasters a lot better). These are not a couple of 10 hour games with a simple HD upgrade. They are huge games and both have gone through an extensive asset revision, plus we are also getting some extra content.

Edit. Nvm, found the story on NC: http://www.novacrystallis.com/2013/...hd-remaster-dated-for-december-19th-in-japan/

So, SCEA's Third Party Production director, Gio Corsi is accepting recommendations for projects they should bring to PlayStation platforms. This can be a port, a localization, or even a new title. Time is ticking down, as he's stated this week will be the last.
