Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 2: Where Pilotwings is apparently Minecraft

Smash 4 Samus looks fine. I like the slimmer look.

Then again I have no sentimental value with either suit and haven't experienced Other M first hand so I dunno.

"The ladies compare their heights."

Sure..."heights"

Also I have no problem with Samus' looks.

I don't think anyone has issues with the Power Suit from Other M based on the design of the suit - it's not drastically different from the Metroid 2 or Super Metroid designs.

The Zero Suit from it will spark a senseless controversy though.

I'm comparing the brawl and M:OM zero suits on the wiki since both pictures are on the same site (easy to compare). The only issue I've always had were the heels on Other M's design. Other than that, they look almost exactly alike except for some blue pattern differences.

I have issues with the Power Suit from Other M. It's probably Samus's worst design in decades; she looks like a cheap plastic action figure, the lines running across her body are poorly placed to the point of being distracting, her arm cannon is pathetic looking (and the pointy part sticking off of it is unnecessary), and I am against the removal of the ridges on her shoulders.. SSB4 kinda fixes it though to the point of it being semi-presentable.

I did like how in the Developer Direct that Sakurai specifically calls attention to the fact that her design wasn't just ported over from Other M (even though practically every other character is a near complete recreation of some design from their games). Kinda funny, that.

That said, save for the heels, I actually prefer ZSS's design from Other M. I like the toned-down hair, her holster, and the fact that they got rid of the silly individualized boob pockets. But those heels are a deal breaker.

They are? Just looking at who's been revealed so far, Peach, Olimar, and Fox have original designs, and even characters like Mario, Luigi, and Mega Man aren't pulled from a specific game. And of course, Pit's design was created from the ground up for Brawl. Kirby and Pikachu are probably the only characters who qualify as "complete recreations," and that's only because there's not a whole lot to do with them.

I don't actually see that much trouble with the crevices in the suit on Other M's design. There's more, but looking at them on the art doesn't really seem all that distracting. I did notice that the big difference between Other M and Prime is that the crevices are actually rendered and shadowed accordingly in Other M whereas they're just a texture in Prime, and it did bother me a bit there. Stylistically though I don't have much issue with them.

Yeah, I guess you're right.

My main problem is how they are drawn at really nasty inorganic angles in contrast to the mostly smooth and organic suit in a way that really calls attention to themselves.

I feel like the only guy who only noticed the heels after people complained about them. I also feel like the only guy who doesn't really have any feelings towards them whatsoever.

I was actually the same until the internet, didnt notice them, and then when pointed out, didnt really care, and then conversations go out of hand with it that I just try to avoid it at all costs.

hmmmm to change the subject sorta.

would E3 14' be the first chance for a playable demo at Nintendo's Booth?

my wish would be a playable demo at PAX east 2014 :P , do it Nintendo, its in late march/April

I think someone mentioned ZSS alternate costumes earlier. Along with some of the obvious choices, I wouldn't mind seeing the clothes that Sanus wears in the final story cutscene (before the 100% stuff), always thought she looked pretty cool in that.

I'm pretty sure that was the impression I got from him, unfortunately. Guy is kind of weird, but not as weird as Toriyama for sure.

“Mr. Sakamoto is the only one who knows who she really is, and his vision for her and her voice was always going to be different than the character people had built in their heads.”
Which is code for "Mai waifu"

The army uniform she had when her hair was short?

I'd argue Fox is a more realistic approximation of his Command design (since it's almost cel-shaded looking in the promotional art for that game) and while Olimar was redesigned for Brawl, his appearance in Pikmin 3 is fairly identical to how he looks there and in SSB4 (with the pikmin models looking like they were directly ripped from the newest game).

I could perhaps understand why some people would complain, but it's not like she's wearing giant red stilettos or something. I think the heels look rad.

Every time I've seen a woman in a catsuit, I've found that most of them are attached to or paired with heels so I guess it's just par for the course for Samus to wear them with the Zero Suit.

More importantly, why doesn't Jigglypuff wear heels dammit. She needs heels with festive colours to match her giant novelty sombrero that she should totally have in this game.

Probably not as bad as people are making it out to be, especially since samus is his creation in the 1st place
Considering how Other M seemingly exists primarily to rid Samus of her every agency and randomly and illogically make her second-best to a random Marty Stu... well, it's not painting a good light for Sakamoto and his views towards women, whether he created Samus or not.

As an analogy, just because Steven Moffat created weeping angels doesn't mean it was okay that he butchered them and their concept, ruining everything that made them effective, in the seasons where he took the lead.

Quite possibly the only good character design decision in Other M.

I interested in seeing what Sakurai is going to as far as new characters goes. He said they are basically low on new IPs. So he's in an interesting position where can either take whatever he can get that can work as a fighter that's new or add more Mario characters.

It's a Shulk or Shy Guy situation!

Actually there are several new IP that Sakurai could look at and Sakurai really need to research deeper to bring more characters from old franchises that need to be revival.

Super Metroid suit + Fusion arm cannon + Prime 3 proportions please.

I actually love the SSB4 variant, I just wish the arm cannon wasn't so dinky.

ugh, this sexist debate again, I'm not going anywhere near this.

Why didn't Metroid just abort the baby and marry the dragon?
