Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | September 2013 | Token Indie Thread

If they told me when I was a kid that Digimon was going to die miserably in the West, I'd had laughed. It was sooo big like 10-15 years. At least here in Spain it was as popular as Pokemon. The first season is still awesome T.T

Digimon was huge in Chile as well. Everyone knew the theme song. Many people thought it was some kind of Pokemon spinoff though, me included.

SCEJA Press Conference:

Totally forgot about this conference.

Hi, I'm new here. Actually registered a few months ago when I heard GAF registration doesn't take bajillion of years anymore. It still took quite a while. :P

It's not like SEGA is a prolific supporter of Vita or anything like that.

Basically, *nothing changes* in terms of Vita, so we have no reason at all to act all meltdown-ing.

Project Diva f
Project Diva F2
Phantasy Star Online 2

And there's also Phantasy Star Nova, which from what we're hearing about is not only going to be a series, but will also be quite a big game. And it's an exclusive to Vita.

All of these are significant titles (esp. in Japan). So I don't see how SEGA "isn't" supporting the Vita. I'm not sure, but I think their Sakatsuku is quite popular.

If anything, they aren't the ones which are conspicuously missing.

SEGA actually releases Vita games. They just don't localize them.

It's like the PSP 1000's infrared port. Sony never used it, and removed it in the 2000.

Didnt know the original PSP had an infrared port. Neat, though useless.

Dude, this is very useful. The first of 3 TGS Sony Conferences, I believe. Anyone else hoping for a Gravity Rush 2 announcement somewhere there.

Well, to be fair, in my view, if they don't come to the west, it's just the same as if they aren't supporting it :(

Ummmkay, lol. So the vita tv and redesign announcements were just the warm up. Interesting.

Who knows that might actually be all there is to it! :D It's hard to understand Sony when it comes to vita

Either way I'm happy with the vita stuff so far this tgs. Anything new would be an added bonus

Dunno if already posted but:

-new (f2p) badman game

-dynasty warriors character in new atelier rorona and playable astrid

-here you can see the 3 new arc system works vita games(top down mech game, ys-esque game, lumines-esque game + a very cheap dragon's crown clone for 3ds)
http://gematsu.com/2013/09/arc-syst...ear-fantasy-hero-magical-beat-swords-darkness

-soul sacrifice delta will have fairy tales monsters like Little Red Riding Hood, Hansel & Gretel, the Three Little Pigs, and Snow White.

It doesn't look bad and it's using type 0 assets, but for some reason when i look at the graphics it feels somewhat wrong, bland and cheap, type 0 feels somehow different, stylish, raw, chaotic, violent, awesome and not cheap for sure.

I want to explain better what i wanted to say.
For me it's absolutely clear that agito is not made by the same people that made type 0(infact they are working on ffxv) and that they are not putting the same efforts, they are just lazily putting together type 0 assets without even trying to recreate type 0's atmospheres, just look at these differences:

Agito looks good, better than many vita jrpgs(sadly), but type 0 is totally another thing imo, reusing the assets is not enough to recreate its dark atmosphere, everything is too clean and light.

Hyper Light Drifter, developer Heart Machine’s upcoming action RPG in the vein of 8-bit and 16-bit classics, has reached its PlayStation 4 and PS Vita Kickstarter stretch goal of $220,000.

At $222,000, it is currently $28,000 away from its “Challenge Mode” stretch goal. Its final stretch goal, which requires $300,000 in funding, is unknown.

Gematsu

So it's confirmed now.

what the above poster said :(
I don't need a dedicated version..

I don't mind Tales of Xillia, Tales of Xillia 2, Tales of Vesperia as long as there's Cross-Play or Cross-Save

I'm with you.

I'd especially love a ToV port; seeing that the game was released in Japan on PS3, maybe (hopefully), it's within the realm of a technical possibility?

ToV was released here in NA for 360 (I have the game and a 360); however, I would totally double dip for a dedicated Vita porting.

Would match the ToV blu-ray anime I have ^_^

Neat! Checked the mail today and found I was lucky enough to get a promo copy of Killzone Mercenary :)

Welcome to GAF! Seems you got lucky compared to me, it took me around 8 months before my account got verified. (iirc)

It's a real shame none of these have come to the West (well on Vita anyway) as their support definitely has been great for those two fanbases on the Vita. As a modern Phantasy Star fan I was very happy that Nova got announced and am really enjoying playing PSO2 on my Vita.

Damnit. How the hell did Sega acquire Atlus?? I thought they were also facing imminent bankruptcy??

I guess this means no more localisations of Vita games eh?

I can already see it: Persona 5 announced as Vita exclusive, no localisation. Angry mob protests, Sega of America/Europe ignores them.

Wasn't that Capcom?

Man

The community is sure capitalizing on the 3DS megaton success in Japan.

We all knew it was coming with so many big nintendo titles this holiday.

Ill be damned if the Vita doom bashing isn't in full force though.

Its crazy how many cool games are getting announced for the system anyways though

I'm excited to see more of

- Soul Sacrifice Delta
- Phantasy Star Nova
- Natural Doctrine
- Damascus Gear
- Fantasy Hero

And there are probably many more I am forgetting about.

Do we have a full TGS Vita game list somewhere?

This SO much!! I never got to play ToV sadly since my 360 broke down i never went back and i'd really really love to play it after hearing good thins about it! Make it happen Namco!!

You guys figure it worth it to pick up a PS4 bundle near launch with no games? I figured I'd wait until sometime next year for a deal or a white model, but the thought of playing the free PS+ games (Drive Club PS+, Secret Ponchos) and F2P MMOs on the Vita is making me reconsider..

How is Touch My Katamari? Is worth a download? It's coming to EU PS+ soon.

Do you like Katamari?
If so, it's free isn't it. :P

It's pretty good, IMO.
People say it's light on content sometimes because there's 10 dlc levels.
You can earn the DLC levels by playing the game normally, it's just a bit of a grind.
The touch to change Katamari's shape is really well done.
Try the demo.

Not one little bit, IMO.
I don't think Killzone Shadowfall is worth $450.
I certainly don't need a $400 Vita accessory I have nothing to play on.

Valhalla Knights 3 due out October in North America, here details on the 7 races:
http://gematsu.com/2013/09/valhalla-knights-3-due-october-north-america

and a trailer
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RwLZFry5Vy4

I searched for infos about the real quality of the game, it seems to have many good changes(like saves in dungeon) compared to vk2, a good story and gameplay, on the bad side it has 10 seconds loadings(with on screens suggestions like skyrim), no voice acting and almost psp level graphics.

Will it come to eu?

Only had my Vita for a few days and PS+ has already gave my a back log. I have no idea how all of you who have had the service for a longer time manage to finish everything!

I'll hunt you out of principle rather than seeking vengeance.
I'm the hunt you deserve, but not the one you need.
Now this is a kind of hunting I can support!
Game on, sirs!
Thank you for your good sportsmanship!

May the best gentleman win Aytrial.

From my understanding it's not Sega that aquired them, it's Segas holdings company Sega Sammy, so think of it moreso as a different company aquiring them that just so happens to own Sega. Index (which was Atlus's holdings company) was facing bankruptcy, not Atlus themselves so they went up for sale and Sega Sammy folked out the cash for them.

As for what this means for Vita localisations though I guess we'll have to wait and see. Sega and Atlus are two different companys, but under the same holdings company so whether or not that affects their management or not is yet to be seen.

Thanks for the heads up!
I can't resist at that price :D
