Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | September 2013 | Token Indie Thread

To be fair you must see both endings (with and without Marie) to unlock all cut scenes, plus you physically can't get some trophies on the first round. So better luck on Second Round :D

I knew there were a couple things you had to do on the second playthrough. I think fighting Margaret is one, and maybe fusing the last Persona? But I'm at 93 hours on my initial playthrough, and I was hoping to get all of the Social Link stuff out of the way so I didn't have to worry about it in a second playthrough. I really don't want to spend 70+ hours on a second time through. Looks like I'll have to at least worry about Marie, again. :\ Is most of the stuff for the second playthrough late in the year, or can you take care of it early? I don't know a whole lot about that.

need advice Vita owners..
was going to buy a Vita just a day before the 2000 model was unveiled.. then i thought id wait..
i really would like the micro usb port and the extra hour of battery.. but of course the screen issue is something im still unsure of...
So.. should i get the OLED vita or wait for the Vita 2000? Im ready to wait till the end of this year.. but anything after that would just be too long.. wanna make use of these PS+ games ive accumalated..
i have seen some comparison videos of the LCD vs OLED.. but cant really draw conclusions yet..

I'd definitely get a NEW version of the current model. OLEDs have a limited lifespan of a few years, last thing you'd want is one that's been burned in or overused already.
Definitely worth it, I barely play my consoles anymore since I'm always on my Vita.
Between the pregnant wife, the 6 month old puppy with too much energy, and work I don't have time to sit down and play games for hours so I just play my Vita, sleep it whenever I have it, and come back to it whenever I can.
Currently playing Muramasa, Dragon's Crown, Killzone Mercenary, Persona 4 Golden, and Ratchet and Clank FFA. I juggle games a LOT.

The secret boss battle happens at basically the end of the second playthrough, and the last Persona can only be fused after you reach level 91 in NG+.

Basically what i do as well

Its pretty much my console replacement so I am grateful that it has all the features that one would expect from a console in a portable form

Party Chat, Apps, Suspend, Full controls and beautiful screen. Awesome store chock full of old and new games. Its incredible

At new game plus you can carry over following:

Cash
Persona Compendium List.
Persona slots (12)
Maxed Social Link Items (required to fuse persona).
Status Parameters
Costumes
Weapon shop list
Skill Cards

Things that doesn't get transferred:

Character Levels
The Personas you have at the end
items and Equipment
Analysis data of shadows.

Maxed stat easily lets you advance through social links. Be sure to sell unnecessary items before ending the first game, because only cash carries over.
At December, note that you can wait to beat Adach until 22nd, so you have some days to spare beforehand. If you beat his dungeon after 23rd then you'll miss the Christmas event.

I somehow missed all the news!
This is good! I was afraid any Gravity Rush would be on PS4.

I like my handhelds.

I cannot wait for GR2. I loved part 1 and this was one of my most anticipated sequels.
This + Soul Sacrifice Delta, Rayman Legends, Tearaway, and Blackgate Origins means I am going to be busy on my Vita. I just hope that Infamous/Bioshock vita games are announced for the VGAs. That'd be amazing.

well PS4 need the Japanese heavy hitters, Gravity Rush will do nothing for it as it wasn't even big on Vita.

I love Vita but I'll have to say that if there was a Gravity Rush HD on PS4 with super clean IQ and AA to show dat artstyle will be fucking sweet and I'll pay too much gems for it.

Dragon's Crown help:

I've been plugging away doing the sidequest from the adventurer's guild.
I'm now maxed at level 35 and not receiving experience on normal.
Should I be trying to plow though the rest of the stuff I'm missing and beat the game now?
Quests don't reset between normal and hard and very hard, do they?

Hard and very hard add new missions.

Mmmk. I guess GR2 provides just enough motivation for me to finish the first! Just like with inFamous.

I gave up on Dragon's Crown (super boring), maybe if SEGA announce Dragon's Crown 2: Sonic and Friends it will give me motivation to return to it.

GTA is like proper SICK good though bros. FO REALZ.

Fuck - an evening of job applications and sore shoulders has done nothing for my brain.

Help me choose my evening handheld relaxation title:

Finish KZ:M
Frame Rate Story
Continue on some G Rush
Etryian Motherfucking Odyssey

When are the 64GB card coming to western markets? Why Japan only for now? Dont they realize everyone around the world wants more space?
Am I correct in assuming that importing the 64GB card is risk-free due to the memory being universal?
Japanese memory will work on North American VITA systems, correct?

So, I wanted to love me some Aqua Kitty last night, but right before displaying the loading screen it tried to connect to PSN and complained that I had to update the fw to start it: wtf have PS Mobile games always done a check like this before?!

Correct. You just have to pay retail + fees. It was about $106 for a 2-3 week airmail delivery with tracking to NY, USA. I'm still not sure if I'm going to do it, as I'd rather just spend some credit card rewards points on amazon.com and get it shipped quickly with prime.

No physical no buy :(

Your loss. ;)

At this point? Never.
Sony doesn't seem to care about providing things for Vita in the NA market.
Vita TV also not currently slated for western markets.

and it is really stupid, Western markets need VitaTV more than Japan (Japanes gamers don't care about TV gaming unlike the western markets) and western gamers are more into digital downloads than Japanese who are still more into retail so NA/EU need the bigger memory cards more. not sure if Sony know what they are doing here.

Deception IV? What game is this?

The fourth Deception game. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deception_series

The new game was announced at SCEJA's press conference the Monday before last.

I am very happy for one reason

Having Capcom half dip their feet into the Vita pool once again

ITs a start and hopefully sets a precedent for another game. Hopefully MH4G or MHPortabe 4th

SOMETHING CAPCOM PLEASE

What happens when it sells poorly?

No friggin way I am gonna make space of 8 gb on my card

Again, your loss. :P

Hopefully they're sane enough to at least split the downloads -- buy the package, but be able to split them out, as if you bought them separately. I wish I could do this with something like, say, Jak and Daxter or MGS HD Collections.

tl;dr - I love Monster Hunter, as do many other folks. It is NOT the game for everyone, though. If anyone is interested in getting into the series, it's best to push through to your first major encounter and do it a few times. If you enjoy that experience and the progression of skill through learning and adapting, congratulations - you're in. If you find that you simply cannot enjoy the big fights and the animation based movement and combat, that's OK - probably not for you.

Man, you actually make me feel like I should give it a try. But i'm not going to buy MHFU when I have a lot of good games in my IGC.

Toukiden confirmed for both physical and digital release:

Definitely buying it. Is VitaGAF giving it a try?

Ratchet & Clank Nexus coming to Vita as well ? Was this announced ?

I think in the end of the Gamescom trailer there was a PSVita logo.

I do prefer 60fps especially for racing / fast paced games but I'll go for 2048.
Thanks for the input!

I'm pretty casual in racing games, but Wipeout feels really good.

I know those WoW feels man, except I played consistently between Vanilla and MoP. Heh, so many deaths. Your breakdown of MH makes a lot of sense to me and probably what's stopping me from enjoying it. I guess if I had friends that played I may enjoy it much more.

I'm going to definitely try it again at some stage. I will more than likely buy MH4 and maybe even this Vita game, but I think I'm done with trying MH3, I have too much of a backlog to finish right now.

I played Burning Crusade (my guild actually let me use a Paladin Tank lol), Lich King (Paladin Tank/Heal/DPS after it was nerfed) and Cataclysm (Paladin DPS / Enhacement Shaman). As you see, my love for doomed things is pretty old xD.

Buying Toukiden? Would like to play it with some people :)

What happens when it sells poorly?

That don't really matter, MHF on Vita really mean nothing (See Xbox and MH Frontier) and as long as Nintendo keep their deal with Capcom the MH4 "sequels/other version" wont go multiplat.

(and honestly if I care that much about a series I'll just get the system that mainline entries are on it)

I Paladin tanked in TBC also after tier 5. They were arguably the strongest tanks providing you had the gear to support it. So much math trying to keep avoidance caps. Did Enhance in WotLK too, that was awesome. Used to PvP with heroic Bryntoll and 3x agility gems. It was stupid but so fun, and I know it enraged strength classes on both sides.

Yeah buying Toukiden, but probably going to wait for a PAL release.

Don't worry, MHFU will end up in the NA PS+ IGC, since SCEA just gives us PSP games for 1/2 of our content every month.

I'd give Toukiden a try if it's localized and I have an itch to play something in that genre.

For some reason, WipEout 2048 runs rock solid @30fps but FEELS really fast still. Really really fluid. I haven't played it lately, but there's a reason I keep it on my card.

Yes, just finish the main quest unless you want the extra skill points now.

Thanks -- will do -- 2 talismans left.

So I finally got to playing Final Fantasy Tactics: WoT on my VIta today. 2 hours in.
Where the f*** is a FFT game for the Vita huh?!?!?!?
The art style is awesome, the story is intriguing and the mechanics are great.
pls.

I want that 64GB, but not badly enough to just bend over and accept those terrible import prices.

Hope it gets announced elsewhere soon. I will definitely be 100% digital going forward once I get my hands on one.

That would probably look something like Tactics Advance, which is fun but really different in story and tone.

If you like the tone, story, and art style of the first Tactics, follow that up with Tactics Ogre: LUCT.

It's not that bad, for me at least. And by not bad I mean relative to the other card prices.

64gb = $130AUD import
32gb = $85AUD locally
16gb = $46AUD locally

Then I will probably go with Tactics Orge :P
Grr SE pls bring develop a new Tactics game for the Vita.

Vita TV will probably be ready to come here when PS4 streaming is fully functional, perhaps even Gaikai, and likely all their content deals for this side of the world. It could also be time allowing for game patching to bring stuff like Killzone into the mix. Multi-room PS4 streaming seems to be the main talking point in the media and the appeal in comments sections for people who could care less about Vita otherwise. It's obviously not the main appeal for some of us, but I can see it going down that way.

Plus, there's things they can just iron out before releasing here... potentially getting memory cards even cheaper, and releasing the 64GB card so people don't lose their shit over the price of something they don't have to buy. Bundle planning even, DS4 version, or possibly having Vita-as-controller ready.

Or none of this and just pointless dicking around. Their whole MO right now is PS4 production and trying to stomp on MS in the US... they probably don't want even 1,000 ppl potentially picking up a Vita TV instead of a PS4. That's their battle here... their battle over there is 3DS... a lost battle, but still their battle.

Top of the page, I vouch for:
Lumines: Electronic Symphony (still $11.29 on Amazon)
Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken (I bet some of you have this from Humble Bundle 9 now... play it)
Shock Troopers PSP (always $6.99, 37MB)
Quell Memento ($4.99 I think... really polished and addictive puzzle-solving game)

PAL too, so add me to your friend list anytime you want (same name as GAF ID). I guess I could try speaking english eventhough i'm not native. Need to practice for first this december xD.

The most painful thing in being a tank in BC was getting the necesary gear to start raids. If I remember well, you actually had to use a caster weapon. So much rages from noobs when i rolled from one of those weapons. The 490 cap was awful at first.

You can be my wingman anytime. :3

I'm almost certain party play will be nessessary for a lot of the content. I finished the demo, I think this one's a keeper.

Same Novocaine. Add me to PSN friendlist if (when) you want. I'm PAL, I don't know if we can play together in online games. GAF ID is my PSN account too.

Don't worry, MHFU will end up in the NA PS+ IGC, since SCEA just gives us PSP games for 1/2 of our content every month.

I'm a EU PS+ user. I'll wait until a sale. If it's sub 5€ I can't go wrong xD.

It feels like 60fps™

Thinking of picking up a Vita this weekend.

Been tossing and turning over whether to pick up a Vita or re-buy a PS3 for GTA V after mine died over the summer. Think I'm going for the Vita though. As much as I want to play GTA V, I'd be spending £200 or so just for that one game, which I'm not in a rush to do, and would inevitably lose money once I traded it back in towards my PS4 or when I finish with GTA V. The Vita is actually something I've wanted to pick up for a while and will keep in and around my gaming plans for the next few years - especially with the PS4 integration - so seems a better investment for me.

I did own a launch Vita before so I'm fairly familiar with the system itself, but feel like I've missed out on TONS of stuff since then. Any recommendations or tips? Think I'm going for the £169 Vita + Killzone Mercenary + 8GB card bundle. I don't really want to have to make do with 8GB but also don't want to pay £55 for 32GB. Is 16GB an acceptable happy medium if I mostly intend on playing PS1 classics and indie games?
