Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | September 2013 | Token Indie Thread

Wait, Tearaway TGS screens where?

I'll made the thread in the morning....

I'm actually really looking forward to Destiny of Spirits, for what it is. It looked cool for me before, but I noticed Q? Entertainment on TGS stream last night, and now I'm even more interested.

All right, P4G friends... One more (set of) question(s):

So, I just sold all my items and stuff. I'm right at the end, Level 9 of the last dungeon before fighting Izanami, and now I have like 1.3 million yen. I'm at around 85% of the Persona Compendium, so I'm thinking of making a run at finishing it off. Most of what I have left to fuse belongs to the Aeon and Hunger arcana. Any suggestions on how to fuse them appropriately?

Frankly speaking, it doesn't really matter what Persona you are fusing if you take care of acquiring staple skills like Debilitation, Salvation, Heat Riser, etc etc.

Yoshitsune should always be the main staple of your Persona though.

I'm going for the Complete Compendium trophy.

It's pretty easy to achieve this, although time consuming and in-game-money costly.

On the same genus (Priestess, Magician, etc etc) just fuse a higher tier persona with the ones on the tier next to it to create another Persona on the same genus, repeat ad infinitum to complete your Compendium... well, outside Personas that require specific ingredients or stuff like Vishnu's Barong and Rangda.

Even this Android "DRM" has been broken. If you're in a supported region, you can add the PSM certificates to an unsupported phone and start playing the games.

Don't you still have to buy the games?

I didn't look forward to it but now with the knowledge of Q? Entertainment being involved I am more interested than before.

Probably? I don't know as I just know that there's a way to get non-PlayStation Certified devices to play PSM games.

Actually, we were talking about the online DRM of PS Mobile games, not the devices certification. That's why I asked, your argument of getting non-certified devices to play PSM games didn't matter.

The online check seems to be every 30 days by the way.

Fellow Vita Gaffers.

My imported Vita arrived today (I was able to get the Soul Sacrifice LE) and I have a couple of questions about the x and o buttons.

I know that Sony's Japanese systems swap x for cancel and o for confirm. However I was aware that this was only in the XMB/UI for the vita.

I bought a US retail version of Dragon's Crown and the x and o buttons are swapped within the game as well. I was under the impression that x and o return to their Western configurations when playing a Western version of a game. But this is not the case regarding DC. I still have to use o for confirm/skip dialogue and x to cancel.

Is this perfectly normal or does it differ for each game?
Can anyone with an imported Vita here in the US confirm this?
I would very much appreciate it!

Edit: One more question. As long as I'm logged into my US PSN ID I should be able to redeem Online Passes and DLC on my imported Vita correct?

Is Toukiden arriving in the US?

I keep seeing and hearing confirmation for Europe. I've seen absolutely nothing confirming for NA.

"This" winter for FFX/X-2 can also mean 2014, as it would still be the current Winter, right?

Don't need to be in the US to confirm this for you. It depends on the game, some have localised button swops, some do not and this isn't just limited to Vita, PS3 (and PS2 too). In the case with Dragon Crown, it has detected the region of the Vita and switched to Japanese button layout.

Tecmo confirmed it's coming to NA shortly before E3.

Beat Little King's Story, easy fights but fun overall. The evade formation was pretty useless when you get to 30 minions, stuck to defense when fighting bosses. And all fights was just using soldiers only, most of the other classes loses it's usefulness by the end game. But the world is nice to explore, seeing your kingdom grow is fun to see. I'll clean up what extra trophies are in my reach and then I can move on to Totori and/or Spelunky.

Ah okay thanks for the clarification.
It's not much of a hassle, just a matter of adaptation I suppose.

On the DLC side of things I should be safe though right?

At first I felt overwhelmed with Killzone Mercenary's first mission. Different paths, different ways to tackle a mission, so many equipment to buy early on, the hacking sequence and more of that...Now I LOVE the game.

The FPS games I've played in the past have been more fantasy in nature and they have been straight paths for the most part (I don't mind that). Heck, even Killzone 2 is a perfect example of that. Killzone Mercenary is nothing like 2...

I also didn't like how it felt more military and less fantasy in the beginning, as if the dark oppressive Helgast feel was missing. Luckily those type of places showed up not too long afterwards (did 3 missions).

This is a game that is very well thought out, with a lot of options to try and with different styles in mind. Also the technology, lore, writing etc. has been pretty okay and not crazy so far. I don't need to mention how pretty the graphics are, how the animation feels good, controls great and the music is pretty nice when it gets going. I like the way they handled the intels.

This game is a great achievement and shows what you can do on the vita. Damn, I'd like to have more games with such budget and attention to care like it :( Enjoy what you have vita bros and mufins.

Oddly enough we didn't hear absolutely anything on that game so far :S I asked Yoshida on twitter but no answer

Maybe, with SSD releasing in March, they are going to hold back the game until fall. So they are not promoting the game until the release is nearer.

Asia is best spirits. :P

I want youkais too... that spirit looks like Odin. If we have cool Greek and Nothern mithology creatures i'm in.

The American one seems like a native american's god, right?

I really hope that Bend is still working on the Vita. That sunset in the first chapters is simply beautiful. My father (who didn't play games at all) is amazed everytime he sees me playing Uncharted/Wipeout.

I really hope the TVita gives a second life to that thing. I'd really love another Uncharted, an Infamous game, a GT/DriveClub game, a 1866 spin-off, a TLOU game (other characters, same universe) and even a ShadowFall spin-off. The setting and art style in that game appeals me a lot more than the original trilogy.

- Love Live! School Idol Paradise
- Airship Q
Love Live was hinted at a while back, and announced last month. Also Kud Wafter, '&': Sora no Mukou de Sakimasu you ni, and Sengoku Hime 4 showed up on the Vita TV compatibility list, with the former apparently being formally announced at TGS show floor.

They barely gave it any attention so far at TGS.

If there is one game sent out to die, it's Freedom Wars
They've obviously canceled it. It's vaporware now!

Almost finished NLKS, very easy game. I would not recommend it but at the same time it has got a i-don't-know-why that hangs me and makes me go to achieve it. Maybe it is because of the princesses...
After this one, My wished next move is on Spelunky. But I'm hearing more and more good thing about atelier totori.
So I'm quite on the same path :)

Yeah, there is so much potential with another Uncharted. The first one was great and impressive as a launch game, but there is obviously so much to add and refine as well. If it's not an Uncharted game, then at least have Bend create a game on the vita.

An Infamous game could be very interesting. Wouldn't it be a awesome to have an original MGS and a FF made with the vita in mind? I'm personally not a fan of GTA style, but it would be great to have a sandbox type of game on the vita.

Sigh...why am I doing this to myself? I should have already accepted what the vita is going to be. I do enjoy indie games, but I can't stop imagining and missing those type of games as well.

At least we have Gravity Rush 2, Tearaway and Soul Sacrifice 2 to look forward to. Also, Borderlands 2 could be great if they port it close to perfection. I hope that guy gets to make Bioshock on the vita as well.

Syphon Filter 5. Can't be anything else, really. They're not going to spend this long away from their own IP.

Bend doesn't get to decide that. Yoshida does.
I severely doubt he just sits there and makes decisions about millions of dollars on his own. There would be layers of producers and managers below him who deal with Bend on a day to day basis, and take pitches and work with the studio to form a proposal as to what they should be working on before it goes up to Yoshida and Rhode at the top. And even then there's undoubtedly people from the marketing/publishing/budgeting/etc. side of SCEA that get to give their opinion - WWS aren't going to just sit on their own and put out a game that the rest of the company doesn't want to publish.

Dragon's Crown finished with the Sorceress. Hooray.

Speaking of games with vanillaware art, wasn't there supposed to be some sort of character DLC for Muramasa Rebirth?

According to the PS Blogcast, we're getting Lone Survivor in North America this week too (whereas before, we just had Curve saying the 25th in Europe and sometime in North America within two weeks).

So Tuesday is Valhalla Knights and Lone Survivor? Or has Valhalla Knights been delayed?

Still plugging away with Rayman Origins. I am still not a fan of Rayman as a character (lack of limbs is and always has been weird!), but its a really lovely game, has some fantastic environments and has slowly stepped up the difficulty nicely to what I think is a fairly challenging game now. I have just got to the point where I am saving the four sisters to open an area up (which I assume is the final stage). There are loads of things to collect and find, and the Time Attack mode is good too. I probably won't go back and do everything in the game as I have so much else to play on Vita (this is the first main game I am playing on the system), but I've had an excellent time with the game. Also, 60fps is delicious :)

X/O swap can differ by game (US copy of Metal Gear Solid games had O as confirm, even on a US PS3)

Even though I live in Japan, I imported an American Vita since my main account is from there. I didn't want to deal with the button swap issues since I heard there are some games for the PS3 that can't be completed because of the X/O swap conflicting with a quick time event.

Come on people, my face is on EVERY BILLBOARD in Urban Trial Freestyle! This is either a bug in the game or no one else is playing. Come beat my lousy records!

It was the same for me when I was playing it, I think. I haven't booted it in awhile though. I thought it was because I'd gone into standby and lost network connection or something.

If you can make it into the city for one day that would be cool. No worries if not.

Time still to be determined but let's just say 6-6:30 tentatively

EDIT: Ok, Takao .. we won't make fun of you .... too much ;)

Guys, set 24 at 6:00 or 6:30...which bar? And I will bring my wife as well, so a bar with a good beer selection and if possible some rock music would be nice.

Does anyone have any idea what the latest Hot Shots patch from the other day does?
Update history said "Bug Fixes" or something like that. Stability improvements and that jazz.
Dragon's Crown finished with the Sorceress. Hooray.
Huzzah! That was my first beating too, then I kept on with it. Haven't touched it in a week or so, but my Sorc is a high 60 or low 70 now. If you ever see me online, and want an extra set of...ahem spells[/]...to look at, hit me up!

From watching someone else play this game I have no desire to ever touch it myself
I got it. I played it for a bit, and enjoyed that time with it. Things slowly started to get on my nerves in the game, but I still plan on picking it up here and there. My annoyances were with the level design mainly, as I feel some of their placement of items is terribad. This does not have the brilliance of level design like Trials, but I am not near the end of the game yet, so I have my fingers crossed for some maddeningly hard stuff to come my way. Not sure if we are PSN buddies or not, but I'll try.
