Fighting Games Weekly | Sept 16-22 | EVO does a 360 and walks away

The real batshit insane thing is that it could have been a 10-0 because Infiltration really clutched out those close 2 games he won, like Daigo missing his super. It could have been a repeat of the Xian set.

Well, that was a mauling

Tomorrow is gonna be interesting with the single elimination matches. If Daigo makes Top 8 who's gonna beat him? Nobody.

Yeah, it will be interesting to see this Daigo that bodied Xian and Infiltration in a tourney. Let's see if he can make it in a tourney format (not the standard one, but close to it)

Aside from not being 10-0 it was pretty much Xian levels of free, amazing performance by Daigo.

He pretty much completely shut down Infiltration's game, dude was completely grounded and eating fireballs left and right.

This new Daigo is all thanks to Inflitration though I think, if not for his losses to him then I don't think Daigo would have strived to improve this much.

I'm so glad that a friend linked me when this started, I was about to leave the house and I had no idea when exactly this match was about to start.

The Beast is back - damn that felt good.

It should have been 10-0, with that super only connecting with one hit halfway through the matches, shit.

Tourney format isn't the same as long set format. Different strategies work in different formats.

It's very possible that Daigo doesn't even qualify for Capcom Cup or he gets eliminated before top 8.

Yes, it's very possible that the most consistent tournament player in SF4 history doesn't make top 8.

People need to judge "prepared" FT10 performance as a different metric compared to tournament success.

Daigo can body anyone if you let him prepare enough and study the opponents habits and patterns. That's why he's so good at Topanga format.
All we need now is for Daigo to 10-1 Fuudo to finish slaying all the other champions and become the true highlander.
He already bodied him in the Japan SF25 qualifier. That's good enough.

yup. Daigo is batman tier w/prep.

I don't know if I like Daigo to win Capcom Cup or even the qual, but it's hard to bet against him in long sets. Real hard.

Daigo changed up his game vs Infil a lot since Evo.

Only cancelled the cr. mk into fireball at a range where it was a block string instead of giving Akuma breathing room to focus.

Also no random uppercuts.

Blocked most of Akuma's bullshit vortex shenanigans.

Fireball game was amazing. Perfect ranges out of getting focused for it. Also great use of the ex. Fireball.

Daigo's footsies were better than Infils. The counter sweep punishes on both sides was crazy. I still can't do that shit lol.

Also ft10 format is a lot different than tournament matches, I could see Daigo not making top 8 since the brackets are stacked. I think it's Single Elimination as well.

Infil was known for studying player habits. Either he wasn't as prepared as Daigo, or just didn't think Daigo would change up his game so much.
