Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | September 2013 | Token Indie Thread

Probably $15 like every other indie game on PSN.

Hotline Miami was $10.
Wasn't Kickbeat $10 too.
Stealth, Inc. is $10.
I think Cloudberry Kingdom is $10 (but not crossbuy/on Vita yet).

Also curious about PS+ discount.

I'll probably support it anyway, but PS+ discount and $10 or less makes it a slam dunk.

It's $10 on steam, if that's a good benchmark.
Looking at Stealth Inc and Spelunky, there's a parity there.

Guys what is the Metal Gear Solid HD collection like on the Vita? I have never played any MGS games before. Does it transfer well to the VIta?

The game is pretty good. It comes with both MGS 2 + 3; however, PSP's Peacewalker is missing (was part of the HD collection, on console).

Never really ventured past PS1 MGS1, so the collection in Vita was a surprisingly great addition to my library. I began with SnakeEater (3), as it appears chronologically 1st. Great so far.

I would also say $10, but in this case the developer has stated that there has been so much work put into this and there is so much new content that it feels almost like an entirely new game.

So based on that I wouldn't be surprised if it sells for $15.

I replied to the tweet asking for pricing/discount availability... so we'll see.

Just ordered my Vita OLED megapack with 8 gb card + 10 mostly crappy games but who cares (at least it's got LBP Vita which i heard ain't so bad and Wipeout 2048) + a physical copy of Gravity Rush!

Ready to join the Vita party finally :))))

LBP and Wipeout alone are worth full price. I'm not a fan of the floaty jumping in LBP but even so I consider it the best in the series.

Now get PS+, then P4G, Killzone, Dragon's Crown, Hotline Miami and enjoy your Vita!

Welcome to the party.

LBP vita is actually good (story and create mode is superior than LBP2) Sony should've called it LBP3.

O rly? I was thinking of buying it too. Hows things with the costumes? Did they split them like they did the psp/ps3 versions? I have tons of costumes on LBP1 that I was happy worked on LBP2

They aren't native resolution (probably close to it better than Persona 4) but they look and play great regardless.

I would wait. I don't know why, but I think that the next two yearly PS+ Vita games are going to be Soul Sacrifice and LBP Vita. So hold on a couple of weeks.

Speaking of Soul Sacrifice, that game has to have been one of the quickest to get a budget release:

It's kind of a mixed bag. While the framerate is more stable in MGS3 (it was kinda iffy back on the ps2) there are sections of MGS2 where the framerate is half of what it used to be. Still, it's the best portable version of MGS3 and the only portable version of MGS2 and, gameplay-wise, everything seems to be just fine. I would personally recommend getting the console version just because tit also comes with Peace Walker. The PS3 version supports cross-saves, too, so if you get the ps3 version you can switch between the console and vita version.

Also, if you havent played MGS1 then you really should before you move on. The newer games really lean on the events of MGS1. You can get MGS1 onto the Vita by transferring it from the PS3, if youre interested.

Is that a good thing or a bad thing or just a thing? I thought this game sold relatively well in JP (including double packs).

Edit:

There were no technical problems with the game for me. MGS2 played great, and so did MGS3 but certain things in certain sections in 3 were a little difficult for me to spot. I'd suggest playing it on a bigger screen. But as already suggested above, play the first one first. You won't regret it (and you won't feel lost in the next ones).

Like 99% of the costume DLC for LBP1&2 is available for LBPV. If you own it, and it's available, you can redeem it.

...definitely the best create mode toolset.

Decided to dive in on a 64GB memory card despite not playing my Vita much since the spring.
I found a $50 bill abandoned in a parking garage yesterday which takes some sting out of the hefty import costs.

Haven't seen too many posts about it, but I am pretty excited for Atomic Ninjas.
It looks like a blast
Coming out October 15th on Vita!

I watched two trailers and can't get excited about it. Will skip it except the reviews or word around here is very good.
Artstyle and humor isn't my thing and gameplay didn't look good.

Will wait for Samurai Gunn and Towerfall instead, which offer similar gameplay.

Ridiculous luck!
How bad are the import costs wherever you are?
Import cost to NY didn't seem so outrageous...

Just bought ny first physical Vita game, Soul Sacrifice. Damn that case is tiny XD

Soon regular DVD cases will feel too large and flimsy!

Sadly there's a huge difference between the feel of a Vita game and the feel of a Vita game with a full manual inside. But physical's physical.

Siliconera article on Soul Sacrifice Delta. Looks to be a whole new game, with new factions, bosses, a 'fate' option that lets luck decide whether enemies get saved or sacrificed, and... possibly native resolution? I'm excited.

Again, if it's a "full" relelase only, they've lost a sale here.
I love Soul Sacrifice, but I don't think it's different enough to get me to drop another 160+ hours on it. I've got other stuff to play.

So, it looks like the rumors might be true..

Also, there is a very neat feature on Destructoid where they give recommendations to new Vita owners on all the different games available, as well as on the value of PS Plus. I think it would be a nice addition to the OT.

If that's true and the game runs well, I'd consider buying it.

Performance is not the main issue here, Insomniac just sucks nowdays (actually since the start of the 360/PS3 generation) R2, R3, Fuse were complete garbage, Ratchet future series were just more of the same tired formula without much change and their recent Ratchet games- All 4 One and Full Frontal Assault- are pretty much pure poop.

Ya hopefully it will come over as DLC in the west since you can import saves.

Also Are you ready for sacrificing at 10?

Except it's a new game with old stuff returning, rather than a straight expansion. I think the DLC would be pretty large if they did that...

Not really on topic... but I found out the reason that Crash and Spyro and a few other random PS1 games won't work on the Vita is Activision, not Sony. Sony has asked them and they flat out refuse.

I have no idea why they work in europe and not NA, i'm assuming it's a different wing of the company that makes the decision out there. But I've fairly annoyed at Sony for "giving up" on bringing over PS1 games... turns out they didn't give up, Activision cockblocked them.

So that's one mystery solved.

I really don't think Jack Tretton will do it.

oh Activision, why they are so awful?

but hey, at least we know they still care/know about Crash and Spyro ips.

That kinda deserves its own thread. Maybe enough fuss could be made to make it happen?

This is incredibly stupid. I was really hoping that Spyro would work someday...

Wonder how much money would make Activision let them do it.

What about those games that work on Vita, but only through PS3 transfer?

I'm pretty sure that "PlayStation The Best" and similar budget labels were originally done to further increase profits due to the fact that the game has sold beyond its target, has already covered development/marketing costs.

The Best also serves as a re-launch, which creates a sales spike.

haven't been posting for a while
but hey my break week is finally here!!!

that sounds shady as hell
what's wrong with them :/
guess we can't pressure them over twitter either

A friend of mine is looking into buying a Vita because he wants to play some visual novel game that came out recently (don't know the name). He normally really doesn't like Sony so I want to push him over the edge. I really don't know a thing about the japanese and especially Visual Novels, could you give me/him a short overview/recommendations of the best titles in this area and also of the best Vita Games with japanese release only.

I'm pretty informed about the western Vita market, so I can cover that, but Japanese-only releases and Visual "novely"-games I have no clue about. Thanks!

First-Post-on-new-site-recommendation: Give New Little Kings Story a try! Playing it right now from Plus and I really really like it! Also preorder Terraway, it's like 20Pounds/30Euro!

welcome back (even that I read your posts here not long ago)

I guess Activision just want more money and don't like that Sony allow people to play the games on PS3, PSP and Vita with the same license fee.

Yeah, Activision clearly doesn't want these old ISOs to compete with the new Spyro, and Crash games they're releasing on Vita.
