Healers/Tanks will always win the votes

sigh

In reality this will happen. Unless you pull a kick-ass save as a DPS taking the last 5% or something of a boss down with the healer and tank dead I can't see a reason to vote up a DPS (and I mainly play as a DPS).

Archers will basically never be MVPs. It would be like getting recognized for flipping on a light switch.

Dragoons and Monks would kind of have the same problem. But at least they would be marginally recognized for flipping on the switch to the flank of said switch.

As a WHM I love Bards for actually paying attention and flipping that switch.

So few actually do.

I've wanted to ask - do healers have some kind of mana reserving or refilling mechanism? I'm constantly watching for healer mana (I usually sing the mana song when they hit around 60%), but I almost never see healer mana get low, so I just keep plugging away, usually playing the 10% resistance debuff as it doesn't lower my own DPS by 20%. However I wonder if the healer is funneling potions into their throat while sweating bullets trying to keep their mana up while I selfishly pluck my bowstring and not my harp.

Yeah both healers have their own ways to deal with mana. As you fight harder bosses and need to spam constantly, even with their systems, mana becomes a problem. Bard mana song gets 2 thumbs up from me.

As a healer, I can think of a lot of things I'd vote DPS up for. Basically not doing any of the things that annoy me. I've run dungeons enough times with enough different DPS people that I always appreciate when one doesn't draw hate, doesn't get hit by AoEs, doesn't bomb me in AK, etc. I might not vote them up for doing hella damage since that's not something I notice [usually. in some cases, good DPS is definitely noticeable, especially in DPS race fights], but there's plenty else.

It depends on the group really and how the healers manages their spells. SCH have less mana problems than WHM for one and stuns or dps actually watching aoes and such helps as well.

White mage has a spell that cuts enmity in half and puts a refresh buff on them, but it only lasts so long, and the cooldown is lengthy. They'll definitely run out of MP in certain situations, but if they pace themselves, they can sustain for a while.

I'll say I always appreciate mage's ballad, but I don't ever ask for it unless I'm low. And I don't expect a bard to use it unless I'm low. I'd say you're fine unless you see a healer get to ~30% MP, then mage's ballad for little bit is really helpful to get back on track.

As for using potions, well, the MP potions in this game are basically garbage and restore such a pitiful amount of MP that they aren't helpful at all.

Omg mahou we are part of something that will forever go down in history as the best tactic in ff14 ever. Stay tuned guys for more details. I have seen the light at the end of the tunnel and oh wow it is bright and beautiful

It is called "chaluas v 'what's the worst that can happen?'"

Dislike how they made Bards "oh you want to help your team? oh well less damage for you".

And so, supergiz found a cure to gizu madness.

Bought this while drunk last night. Not very far, and as a WoW veteran slightly confused, but it definitely makes a mockery of the idea that traditional MMORPGs can't be done on console.

I enjoyed getting roundly mocked for complaining that GW2 didn't have support for controllers

Then Tera

Then this

And GW2 is comedy ezmode in terms of abilities to manage

I was loving the controller... until I got more than 8 skills. Then I was all, well fuck. Moves to KB+M, hasn't looked backed since.

dislike how they made Bards "oh you want to help your team? oh well less damage for you but still do equal damage to other classes that have to work twice as hard just cause"

Can't be said enough. Close range classes need some modifications to make it worth all the effort.

FFXI proved that it could be done 10 years ago. I think the biggest issue is the performance issues. Eventually, with all the content they will add the PS3 version is just going to become overloaded. It's pretty bad now with fates were you can't see a thing but eventually it will just get worse.

FFXI was a much slower game though so the slower input on gamepads worked perfectly. People having issues running end game stuff with the controller?

Getting conflicting results on google so I will ask here;

Does anyone here play this game on a mac? I have been reading that there is a relatively easy way to do that..

I can't really see some of the end game content working that great with controllers. It's usually pretty noticeable, especially with tanks that have trouble switching targets quickly.

There are only a few reviews out, but the most recent one is from GameSpot: 7.0/10

Thanks. Reading up on some history of this troubled development, it's a miracle Square-Enix turned this around.

Wada did some really good things for Square-Enix like revitalizing FFXIV, acquiring Eidos (making my favorite current gen game Tomb Raider), etc. Too bad he took the fall and now I think the company is getting worse.

Man this is gonna suck.. :(
I got my battle dance materias for my relic weapon but I don't have any grade 5 carbonized matter. Not on sale in the market board so I dunno where to get em. And I don't have Gil to give to someone if I ask them to meld materia for me.

Bah! >.<

Anyone know where I can get that matter?

Can you play solo and go far?

Teamwork is probably required, right?

Story mode wise, you end up having to do dungeons every so and so later on in the story. The dungeons usually last about 20-40 minutes depending on the party, but the lower level ones are casualish. You can still play the game completely solo, just those specific points in the story if you're wanting to complete the story require you to do the dungeon once.

The best EXP is obtained from doing FATEs which anyone can just jump in and do without any commitment.

the story forces you to do party dungeons from early on (lvl 15). And there are more story quests/dungeons that requires party.

Also all the end game stuff at the moment is party based dungeons.

Thanks.

How time intensive is the game? Don't want another WoW where even PvP required you to farm daily. No intention of hardcore raids either. Will I'll be missing much content/story then?

Is there pvp at all? I did practically nothing but duels in WoW as destro lock. Arena and the little PvE I did, was just to have gear for duels lol. #wasted-trillion-hours-with-soulshardfarming

So after almost 3 days and 30 hours of failed Titan HM tries, we finally found a way to beat him. You form a V shape with Titan where the tank usually holds him. When Titan uses the line attack and the plumes, you all run to the respective sides then return back to V formation. Keep this going the entire fight.

When he stones someone that person moves to titan's but in the middle

And that's it. Easy as butter on a rainy day!
