I pirated 360 games and MS banned me, what the hell?

A question to the OP...wahad987 is your xbox user name. When I did a search I found this thread..someone using that name was I guess selling region exploit cd keys?

I don't see what selling cd-keys has to do with his XBL account, though it still makes me think we're missing some important elements of the story.

Assuming this is accurate, I don't have strong enough words to fling at OP for wasting everyone's time.

For reference, is there recourse here, in terms of punitive action for Neogaf privileges if/when something like this happens? This would legitimately be (a) libel in terms of deliberately trying to (unfairly) damage the reputation of a service and like I said before (b) a big waste of time and energy.

The fact customer support won't give you any more details is pretty bullshit imo.

They should at least be able to tell you what specifically you did in order to get banned.

i agree they should allow you to contact them to find out, the things they list are very ambiguous & could mean any number of things.

Games are much cheaper in Russia. People buy the Russian keys and sell them to the US/Europe for a markup.

Oh, I was not aware of that.

So are these PC games then? Are they legitimately bought? If so, what's wrong with that? and how does that relate to him getting banned on XBL?

Edit: Thanks btw!

Even then OP shouldnt lose all his games he bought. Are people seriously defending the billion dollar company?

You don't do shady shit the OP was clearly trying to do and expect no repercussions. Has no bearing on a billion dollar company or not. You accept a TOS when you use their products. Basically tough shit OP.

They're usually bought legit or taken from retail Russian boxed copies. Nothing illegal about it. I don't see how it convicts the OP of some wrongdoing on Xbox.

Check the differences here http://www.steamregionalprices.com/

For instance, Euro Truck Sim is $24.99 US or 349 руб ($10.97 US)

Do they have a right to take the Taurus you purchased from them in the past as well?

I love how people think that MS is just banning people for shits and giggles. Even modded consoles just get the console banned not the account. He got both which would imply he did some shady shit. If you don't want to lose access to your games don't do shit that's against the TOS.

What difference does it make who the company is and what they are worth? If someone is trying to defraud the system then the proper recourse needs to take place. Yes, having access to games you legally bought should be in place but let's not get off-track here if the OP was at fault.

Who cares how much money MS has? It has nothing to do with this in any way, shape, or form. OP knowingly did something sketchy, got caught and banned per the ToS, and is now complaining about it.

Same happens on Amazon, Google and any digital service. That needs to be addressed of course, and is a real concern for anyone who adopts a all digital future. However, if the op was up to shady crap, then he's shit out of luck. This reminds me of the guys who used to post to the Xbox ban threads on xbox.com and demand it to be reversed. Then the mod would reveal the exact reason for then ban in detail then close the thread. It was online shaming of the highest order.

Oh wow, never would've guessed that games in Russia were so cheap.

We can discuss about it being legitimate, but it has nothing to do with Xbox Live.

Ok, thanks guys.

Its a mistake Microsoft made that the OP took advantage of. I have never seen Valve/Sony or Nintendo ban people for their own mistakes. I also love how people think TOS is the law, maybe in Amerrica but in Europe it doesnt do jack.

Fords a billion dollar company, does this mean I can go jack a focus?

If your brother steals a Focus and give it to you as a gift, do you deserve to go to Jail? The only person who deserves prison time is your brother.

Same situation, only the Oman fake accounts deserves to be banned.

Anyway, I seriously doubt the ban was for that.

You do realize if it was for the Oman thing many people on GAF would have been banned. He did something else.

Why are people quoting this post with shyamalan memes as if that explains anything? It has nothing to do with XBL whatsoever

It proves the OP does shady shit. End of story.

The OP is crying saying he did nothing wrong when you can have the IQ of a rock and know this isn't true. The OP knows exactly what he did and he is just looking for sympathy on GAF for being a dumb ass.

Stupid to spell it murica. We don't do that to other countries here. Hate all you want.

As for the legality in the EU, we already discussed it in this thread earlier, and you would be wrong.

So I went through OPs website, and found he is selling

Dark Souls
DiRT 3
F1 2011

DiRT 3 also has a major key leak in its past http://www.tomshardware.com/news/DIRT-3-Steam-Codemasters-Game-Key-Radeon,13360.html

Now, assuming that OP activated one of those GFWL games on his account, and the key was stolen, could this be classed as "Marketplace Theft"?

The email mentions illegitimate acquisition of redemption codes

It would be utterly stupid for them to ban the whole account. Valve just removes the game from your library if the key was stolen, etc.

If that's the case then we'd be seeing ALOT of posts like this... Now if it involved some Credit card fraud then this makes a lot more sense...

maybe if you read everything, you'll know this is false:

The reason why they ignored me, well if i may say it better, they didn't ignore me. Their work time is from monday to friday, and i got banned last night (saturday) so I need to wait for tomorrow. But as that, i must say, nice and helpful guy told me on the phone, I probably can not salvage anytihng from that account. Its permanent ban of account and console and I can't do anything.

If you know about it
Receiving Stolen Property
The offense of acquiring goods with the knowledge that they have been stolen, extorted, embezzled, or unlawfully taken in any manner.

The earliest statute that made receiving stolen property a crime was enacted in England in 1692. It provided that the receiver—the person who accepts the property—should be deemed an Accessory after the fact to the theft. The crime became a separate substantive offense in 1827, and it has been similarly treated in a majority of U.S. jurisdictions.

Do people really buy his I did nothing story?

Considering OP said he did nothing he could think of that might cause the trouble, but we have direct evidence that he was achievement boosting, this means at the very least OP was only including information that supported his claim, and in effect lying to try to shift blame. All we have to go on in this thread is credibility, and even if achievement boosting alone wouldn't explain the resulting ban, the omission suggests there is probably more of an explanation. At this point, I trust Microsoft more than the OP here, when it comes to this particular situation.

Looking through some previous comments in this thread and others from you it's clear you want all the blame to lie with Microsoft and not the OP.

Considering OP said he did nothing he could think of that might cause the trouble, but we have direct evidence that he was achievement boosting (which is particularly banned because it means you're giving out your personal/account info to strangers), this means at the very least OP was lying, and knowingly lying to try to shift blame elsewhere.

In light of that, we don't have reason to take anything he says at face value. I bet there's more "dirt" in terms of his behavior to be found, whether or not it comes to light. More or less.

That's the likely situation and it doesn't help matters we have those who have issues with Microsoft because they are a multi-billion dollar company trying to defend the OP.

Why are people quoting this post with shyamalan memes as if that explains anything? It has nothing to do with XBL whatsoever

Because it shows the OP is well-involved in shady piracy shit and has poor moral standards. These types of people typically try to pirate anything they can get their hands on, and historically tend to lie about the reason they got banned when they get caught. OP has obviously done something else to get banned from Live and doesn't want to admit it.

Okay? That has absolutely nothing to do with the discussion you started. Thanks

Does Microsoft, or any other company, have the right to block you from something that you purchased and should therefore own.
