I pirated 360 games and MS banned me, what the hell?

Personal moralities have so many levels and conditions it's not worth putting things out as absolutes.

Awhile back Microsoft changed the way the suspension forum worked. You used to post, wait for a response, and then you could go back and forth with the support team. Also, they would get more specific with reasoning. That led to a lot of great moments when idiots would try and pretend they didn't know what was going on or the support team would straight up say something like, "your son was exposing himself using his xbox camera."

Unfortunately now people ask questions that are hidden until replied to with the section of rules that were broken and then the thread is locked. There really isn't enough good stuff worth posting to a site like that anymore. I used to love combing that forum for entertainment.

From your writing and world stance I suspect I'm probably twice your age. If you are six, then I guess that makes me 12.

Several posters here have tried to help you understand what it means to be bound to a TOS agreement, and the difference between them "taking away his games" and their refusal to let him continue using their service due to piracy.

He knew the risks of piracy--which is most likely why he had three consoles and tried to keep one "clean". No one has taken away his games.

They have severed his ability to use their online service--which includes access to re-download previous purchases.

I'm at a loss as to how to make you understand this.

If he bought his games through a digital service--and was bound by the rules of that service and then chose quite knowingly to break those rules--guess what? He loses access to said service!

Perhaps if he didn't like the terms he could have either bought the games physically, or *gosh* maybe not been a filthy pirate.

If any of this is unclear, please take a deep breath, start at the beginning and re-read this thread. There is plenty of info here as to why he doesn't get to re-download his games. Just get past your anger and the feeling that "this isn't right" RE: digital ownership and you'll see he doesn't have a leg to stand on.
 
You likely knew very well what this ban was really all about, but the Oman thing was a cheap scapegoat to try shit on XBL/Microsoft policies. You whipped up a lot of shit and ugliness on a lie or at the very least a gross admission of the facts.

But you don goofed and were excellently outed, fuck you.

Anyone that did this knew it was wrong and all took the risk anyway. OP was angry he got caught and wanted everyone to side with him. Didn't quite work out that way, eh?

Thanks. That is certainly a tricky thing to discuss. I thought they gave you the re-download option of you are ban from the service. I guess this is a good lesson to learn. This was an interesting experience to say the least.
 
So I don't have an Xbox and I don't really know how the Live system works.. There's a difference between signing in to your account on a friend's system and recovering your account on a friend's system, right? Is there a limit to how many times you can recover?

They found his gamertag on another website asking for pirated games, hes admitted to pirating games to try before he buys.
 
I always find it hilarious that pirates and other degenerates are always keen to point fingers at Microsoft as being some sort of irrational figure when it comes to perma-banning and then, when people get all riled up about how unfair MS are being, it always turns out that they're more than justified in banning these tools.

Same thing happened with that itzLupo stuff and "The Pro". The guy went all over youtube and falsely accused Microsoft of being dickwads, when in reality, he was a pirating, cheating, and annoying piece of shit and deserved to be perma'd numerous times.

I believe you when you say that you have bought games and try to support developers. However, you must understand that Microsoft does not discriminate from "piracy to try out the game" and "piracy to keep the game". To Microsoft and just about any other company, it doesn't matter what your intentions may have been. Piracy is piracy, and they punish you just like they would punish any other pirate. It also sounds like you were a tad unlucky, since not every pirate is caught by Microsoft, and yes, there are unfortunately people who pirate lots of games without paying a cent to developers running rampant on Xbox Live. It sucks that you can't access your legally purchased games, but that's the risk you take when you pirate a game; it's always a gamble.
