Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | September 2013 | Token Indie Thread

Super Crate Box and Aqua Kitty are pretty fun. SCB has had me pretty frustrated from time to time though but that's probably just because of how awful I am at it.

I forgot about Cytus Lambda. Definitely get Cytus Lambda. Free to play, with additonal song packs. Really well done game.

The market didn't support it, and too much of GAF is preoccupied with sales-age, now here we are.

It sometimes seems like you can't even mention the Vita outside this thread without it triggering a cheap shot.

Not to sound too defeated by the internet. :P

I wanted to buy a Vita since some time ago, but all the doom thing worried me a little. Until I actually inform myself. I think that more people will have a Vita if the no-games stigma wasn't so popular.

But yeah, I think all this stuff about the Vita monthly thread is a defensive mechanism. We feel uncomfortable out there because of w what everybody says so we come here to speak about everything. Most other platforms use more game specific threads.

Killzone Mercs is the only game that can tear me away from GTA5. The more I play it, the more I want to nip down to GG Cambridge and take 'em all some cakes. It's just... great.

Indeed.

Maybe it's a defense mechanism of some sort, hahaha.

*Hugs all of VitaGAF*
Given the difference in attach rates, I think it's just more that the Vita demographic consists of many more 'enthusiasts'. That and the fact that the hardware is so damned fine that any excuse to use it is a reason for celebration.

Crazy how good Real Boxing is. Sure, kinda thin training modules, and if you're a boxing buff, the lack of licensing *might* irk...

...but as a palate freshner after the immense excellence of Mercenary, I can't believe how much I'm enjoying it. Lean and tactical.

My custom Aussie bruiser Danny Kantaiga is enjoying his dark horse climb up the first career mode competition.

Downsides? Probably only the perfunctory announcer, making do with slotting in the one size-fits all lines. Otherwise, cool as.

So how come I have never seen any of you that I have added here when I go online with it >:(

...

.....Oh, it's because I live in a place with 12 hour difference with the US huh...... :(

If we wan to play with fellow VitaGaffers, best we play it in the middle of the night because of time difference buddy :)

EDIT:
I was forgetting, do you know that netpunia rebirth 2 was announced? And that the november issue of dangeki will show the spinoff with chibi noire?

Boom. Now to move on to something else and free up some space
Just one question, getting all princesses' love is enough or do i need to fight the final boss to get the trophy?

I always noticed Vita owners ae wayyy more positive and in love with their Vitas.
this is your answer ;)
Then when I touched the Vita at a Vita preview event that IGN hosted. (was there for the free pizza) and WOW I instantly fell in love.

Picked up my new Vita yesterday.

I've owned one before but it's always nice to be reminded just how nice this hardware really is. Unlike when I last owned a Vita, the games are there this time too. I don't own a memory card big enough to hold all the PS+ aquired games I want to play and there's a long, long list of stuff I want to pick up on PSN which I need to restrain myself with.

Killzone Mercenary is most impressive as well. Been loving the multiplayer.

Welcome back to the club bud. If you are looking for a higher capacity card, I'd suggest holding off until the 64 gb is announced for the west. By then, there will probably be a lot of 32gb ones floating around on the used marketplace priced more reasonably.

Am I weird that I'm keeping my eyes out for Malicious Rebirth? I heard warnings about the PS3 version but I think they'll fix it for Vita...

And I wanna learn more about Into The Nexus for Vita. Worst kept secret.

For the love of god, if they are doing a nexus port, make sure it runs properly this time. R&C:FFA was atrocious and nigh unplayable, and I am not even a graphics whore.

I don't mind it looking simpler than the ps3 version. The vita is not a ps3 after all, just make sure the bloody thing is playable.

I'm not one to scream "Vita has no games", I enjoy the constant stream of indies and I love Soul Sacrifice and Gravity Rush and really look forward for Tearaway.

Still, after the release of Killzone Mercenary I began to wonder: When do you guys expect the next tranche of AA-titles for 2014.
Sure we had Gravity Rush 2 and some other titles, but I keep wondering when or if we will get confirmations for other 2014/2015 titles.

Will we get other Killzone budgeted games? Or will the lineup slowly dry out after the Ps4 release?

You nailed it here. Stuff looks so good on that screen

There is still the Sony bend game, freedom wars and 2 more soul sacrifice games. There are plenty of good titles to come yet from japan in 2014. Toukiden, disgaea, phantasy star, over my dead body, the next zero escape game, too many to list tbh. we just have confirmation they will be brought to the west. Type zero is also pretty much confirmed to he localized. 2014 is looking pretty good imo.

Toukiden was supposed to come out this year but was delayed. Disgaea already came out i think. Type 0 was confirmed to be localized? i thought that was just Agito (the ios game)

Haha, that looks like fun. :)

Just got my own Vita this weekend and have a couple of games for it, with a bunch of others underway as well.
Loving wipeout, stardust, hotline Miami, EDF 2017 and Killzone especially.
Haven't played any KZ online yet as I'm still getting used to the game and especially the feel of the sticks. But once I feel comfortable with them, I'm sure I'll be playing online quite a bit. Loved KZ2 MP.
If anyone wants to add me, my PSN is meppi64. I'm in Europe btw.

We will have Toukiden in 2014, that for sure.
That's my most hyped Vita title currently. Can wait to get my hand on it.

I hope more games on the Vita feature cross-play with the PS3
was hoping to play LittleBigPlanet with the girlfriend :/

-------
irrelevant but still..
I can't decide on my next phone

using the dinosaur BlackBerry 9900
thinking of either
(1) Samsung Galaxy Note 3
(2) iPhone 5S
(3) Sony Xperia Z1
(4) BlackBerry Q10
(5) HTC One or Nexus...

Sony Xperia is sexy <3

What are the NeoGAF approved Playstation Mobile Games?
I have $2.53 I need to burn

For that price, the right answer is Passing Time. Buying Lemmings level packs would also be an alternative.

There are some other good PSM titles but they are not in your budget. Rymdkapsel is the best of them, Super Crate Box, Aquakitty, Yu-Nama: Puzzle and Tokyo Jungle Mobile are also nice.

The rest of 2013 looks like this to me:

Lone Survivor Director's Cut
Batman
Tearaway
Ys: Memories of Celceta
Valhalla Knights 3
1001 Spikes
LUFTRAUSERS
Malicious Rebirth
Final Fantasy X
Final Fantasy X-2
Sorcery Saga: The Curse of the Great Curry God
Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate (J)
J-Stars Victory Vs (J)
Gundam Breaker (J)
Danganronpa 1 & 2 Reload (J)
Injustice (?)
The Amazing Spider-Man (?)

The Note is a sexy beast... I wouldn't get a Blackberry right now... The Z1 is good too.

Oh, just one question. I know the digital content is locked behind a Japanese PSN account, which isn't really a problem as I have one. But the switching back and forth turns me off a bit so I'll get a second system dedicated just for Japanese PSP and PSone games as well as other stuff.

But when I'm buying physical imports, I'm I correct to assume that I can just put them into my European system with a euro account and just play them?
Pretty sure that's how it should work, but I would like confirmation before I order EDF and Gundam Breaker.

Oh btw, for people looking for a great game on the system and not afraid to import, give Gundam Breaker a chance.
I've imported the PS3 version already and love it to bits. So much so that I'll be double dipping for the Vita one as well. :)

Injustice (?)
The Amazing Spider-Man (?)

I had the most wonderful dream last night that they announced Injustice for the Vita. I was so excited that I woke up, promptly realized I'd been dreaming, and got all disappointed.

...

I really want to go on a PSM splurge, but I have a 64GB card preordered. Considering how difficult it is to move save files over, I'm thinking it's easier if I just wait. But Rymkapsewhatever and Passing Time and Super Crate Box and Chaos Rings all look so tempting!

Sony Xperia Z1 is a pretty good phone, IMO. I'm probably buying the og Z next year despite the atrocious LCD screen because it's slick, I can use it in the shower (switching songs lol) and it's sexy. And it'll cost like 300 euros whenever my phone dies.

The Galaxy Notes (and phablets in general) are bigger than I'd like. But it's a personal preference.

And I'd take an Android phone before iOS every day. But it depends in the money you have spent / apps you've already bought. But if you want to use it as a "gaming device" (if it can be called like that) iOS is miles better than Android.
_____

BTW, I'm selling my DS Lite, so I'll probably get like 30 bucks that i'll probably spend in a Vita game. Should I buy Killzone: Mercenary or just wait to Dragon's Crown (21 October). I'm planning on buying both. And Tearaway. And Toukiden.

I don't love most shooting games, but I want to experience those awesome graphics and the singler player campain seems to be long. Is Sony planning free DLCs for it like with Soul Sacrifice?

Yep. Toukiden us a 2014 release. Type 0 is pretty much confirmed to be localized according to an interview with tabata, the director of the game. He mentioned the localization is pretty much done, so they just have to pull the trigger. Psp game but who cares, still playable on vita.

Also, i am talking about disgaea 4, not 3.

As long as you don't mind skipping extra content like DLC, yes your european Vita could play the game just fine.

Ah, that's not a big deal for me. Thanks!
And if a JP/US only game get some must have dlc, I can always play it on the other system or switch accounts.

May I suggest the HTC butterfly s?

Its design is not as good as the One, but the battery life is very impressive, and it has a best in class screen.

I am also personally interested in the Z1, but heard the battery life is just average. At this point, the spec race for phones just doesn't do anything for me anymore, so I just want a lo g battery life lol.
