Is there a better place to FATE farm between levels 36-40 other than Dragonhead? I freakin' hate that place for FATEs.
So I'm thinking of starting FF14 with a friend. Is it recommended that one of us play as a healer so that we don't need to wait long for parties?
Even sooner. For Haukke Manor I got a group immediately as a tank. The first three dungeons the healer has the advantage, but after it seems to go to tank.Prior to lvl 30, having a healer in the group generally gets you instant queues but I hear after lvl 30, there is quite a shortage of tanks.

Yeah this is half a truth, 2.2k damage from a mountain buster on a PLD would only be possible if you pop Rampart, Sentinel and foresight at the same time, if a PLD does that then he will make the healers have a really bad time for the next set of MB, with 2 pieces of AF+1 and full DL and using one defensive cooldown damage can be about 3.3k to about 3.6k damage on MB.
I think you might have forgotten to take shield oath into account.
From the following mitigation calculator :
If a warrior is taking a 4.5k hit with no cooldown, then they will take 4100 with foresight up, and an equally geared paladin will take 3600 unmitigated, 3200 with foresight, 2900 with rampart, 2400 with sentinel, 0 with hallowed ground and potentially roughly 2900 with bulwark ( is mb physical ? I'm a warrior, I can't tell ;p )
Note that those are individual values, not stacking them all at the same time. The main problem isn't really the base difference, which is weighted reasonably well against warrior strengths, it's that warrior is completely outclassed in number and quality of cooldowns.

Yes, but you'd be going into the Duty Finder together if you form up a party in advance so that should take the edge off a bit. The easiest for two DPS people is to ask around on their server though, just see if you can find a tank and healer to hook up with on a regular basis. So then it's tank > healer > dps. Would it take a long time for us to find parties if we both picked dps classes?
CTRL A, then backspace is what I do.Is there a way to quickly delete the text you typed in the chatbox? In xi I think it clears if you hit esc, I can't figure out how in xiv after like a month of playing it... I delete that shit manually which kind of sucks mid battle >_>
Being melee DPS right now is...just not very fun sometimes. =/ So much work for so little reward. Plus, you get the feeling that while no one says anything to you, everyone secretly wishes you were either BRD, BLM or SMN. Sometimes, you do too.

Don't worry, you'll be loved @ the endgame if you're good![]()
Duty finder is essentially Multiplayer-matchmaking so I understand the problem. It's why the culture in some multiplayer fps and moba can be so toxic sometimes. Hell, I generally avoid going into Dota 2 solo and only play with friends.
So the same with this game. It's better to make friends, or get your friends to join you to play. If this is not your kind if thing, then I understand if people bail.

Today I ran into a trolling LV50 asshole wiping out all the wild hogs in the Bramble Patch, preventing low level players to complete their quest. When people told him to stop he just lol and kept killing. What a dick.
Er, so if my friend and I are choosing classes that start from different cities, is there a way for me to quickly get to his city? Or do I have to wait until a higher level to travel / take the airship?

Another question about jobs.
I unlocked scholar and I think I figured out how the job customization works.
I am a lvl 31 Arcanist and saw that I had 6 slots to equip actions from conjurer.
2 questions then:
1. Can I equip an equip able action that is say from a lvl 50 conjurer to a lvl 50 arcanist? (it doesnt need to be 1/2 the job lvl like FF11 right?)
2. Can I add actions from multiple jobs together? Say Swift Cast + Protect on an Arcanist?
1. You will only get certain skills that unlock for cross classing. And you need to be the appropriate level to unlock it on the class that gets it. Check out the bottom list which shows which skills you can choose from if you have the appropriate level of Conjurer or Thaumaturgist. http://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Scholar.
2. You can't cross class job skills - only class skills. But yeah, you can have Swiftcast and Protect. If you go with a job you are talking about being a Scholar though![]()
Additionally if you choose not to go with a job and stay a main class (ie. Arcanist) then you can choose from all classes including the DoW classes for cross class skills. Again, not all but a few that are pre-chosen for you by Squenix
It's sad if the development team don't see this as a problem.
I'm studying and not allowing myself to log in today, so I am going to post some random screenshots instead!
Can't see it too well, but we decided to do Ifrit hard mode in swimsuits. That +1 fire resistance totally helped!
Random Garuda hard mode shot. I like the fight a lot- just wish we would have gotten the bow or another whm wand to drop.
During a random AK run, Mont and I weren't paying attention and got repeled off (my first time falling! It was interesting lol) We went back to the beginning and when we made it back, Xarielle and Esmerlda were still fighting the good fight. Unfortunately, they couldn't dps fast enough to finish it, but they gave it a good try!
We all megred into Pit Bull while waiting on the Garuda event to start and created a monster.
Ryder and I merged into one super bard.
Hahaha! Take that ya jerk!

Dear all WHMs ever, everywhere:
Please do not spam Medica II constantly. Every single point of overhealing and regen overhealing is building up insane amounts of enmity, making your tanks fight you for hate control.
Healing enmity is supposedly somewhere in the neighborhood of 50% of raw damage to a mob, but that doesn't matter a whole lot when you're dropping constant healing blasts on a 4 or 8 man party and regen is ticking as well.
Normally I could give a shit if a dps or even healer is riding my ass for threat, but I've seen some really stupid, really avoidable wipes because a healer went on a medica spree and pulled aggro at a bad time from adds or (much worse) a major boss. This isn't a class specific issue either, I've seen it pull off well geared PLDs and WARs both, the threat output is simply too high to overcome especially if it is spammed early in a fight before aggro is locked.
There are fights where Medica II spam is necessary for survival, and Shroud can be used as a temporary solution, but I'm not talking about necessary or smart use of Med II and Shroud - I'm talking about mashing that Med II button as a lazy method of keeping the party topped off.
(And yes I realize this is a silly thing to post, the WHMs doing this won't be paying attention or caring, I'm just venting)
Yea thanks. I realized only certain actions are equipable but not all. So basically if I reach lvl 50 WHM I can equip a lvl 50 action to my Arcanist if I want to and can right?
I was just using Arcanist as an example because its what I have, but I know it will apply to the other jobs
Thanks again![]()

I know I'm not the best player in the world, but I try my damnest. Doesn't always work out but w/e.
Dat 49-50 grind. Brutal.
I can't believe Francel still isn't fixed and not one comment on the issue.
I'm getting tired of crafting/gathering, I want to continue my story quests!
