i have a quick question about using equipment for dragoon. is it better for them to have more determination or skill speed? for some reason i always went for skill speed but after looking at one of the darklight accessory items as well as the description for the determination stat, i'm beginning to wonder which is better.

determination is slightly better.

We did it insanely fast tonight too, in a different group. I'm still shocked. I've never seen Garuda go down on the first try, and never so quickly. Sadly we then wiped on Titan repeatedly. We just didn't have the DPS needed.

I don't recommend this cute little tactic for 2 heals, and I don't recommend it period unless you're playing with good friends.

But that said - you can build up LB in phase 1 suuuuper fast by letting dps eat landslides and having healers quickly heal them back to full. Just make sure sch's do the heavy lifting so whms don't get med2 aggro from the tank.

It's not necessary at all, but if you need a l3 limit to kill the heart, thats a hell of a lot faster than standing in place and auto attacking for however long it takes to build a bar.

You could have issues with stomps in P5 if your dps is low though, so not really an actual solution, more of a way to keep your healers awake in P1 if you're building limit :P

(god I want Titan dead, I'm so sick of fighting him. I can dodge his shit in my sleep, but every fight I'm in, someone goes off the edge or eats plumes or bombs :[)

Question for the higher level tanks:

I'm 42 now, and still rocking the Cavalry set from Brayflox. It's still better than plain white gear, but is it good enough for going into my next story dungeon, Stone Vigil? Or is there a lower level dungeon I should run some to scare up some more robust gear? For what it's worth, I do have my level 42 GC sword and shield.

I don't know if this is just an Ultros thing, but Duty Finder has been either really good, or ends out disastrously with no in-between (mostly the former though in my experience).

My first Qarn run ended so badly to the point where we ran out of time at the dungeon boss. My second Qarn run ended so well that some of the players who were experiencing the dungeon the first time felt spoiled because of how smoothly things went (although, there was a relic armor DRG doing the dungeon for some reason, but he was giving a lot of good info about the bosses and mobs), and I managed to get the unique bow from the dungeon and even better armor than the infantry set. And I thought that run I did with a few GAF members in Brayflox today was the epitome of smooth...

Probably needed Qarn for the GC hunting log. I use DF for pretty much all my >50 dungeons and rarely, rarely run into problems.

I was actually helping Titan HM groups today since I just felt like doing it for some reason. The first group I helped out one-shot Titan and the next one did it in two tries. I would have loved to be in a group like that when I was trying for 3 days straight.

You can wear quest gear the whole way to 50, then wear your AF into AK

I hate you with the fury of a thousand burning suns D:

I've probably fought him north of 60 times now. Maybe more.

3 days golly what a hassle

I've almost pretty much given up :| It's not even worth spending the time to create a group when there's 3 other groups shouting looking for the same scholars/healers you are.

WHERE MY TRANSFERS AT

Wait, you get Calvary from Brayflox? I need to run that some more. Got a bad habit of running dungeons only once, unless others need help.

Hey, could I have some advice? I'm playing this with a friend and am kind of interested in playing Scholar. Thing is, I've never healed before (actually, I'm fairly new to MMOs in general). I played a Lancer to 31 and unlocked Dragoon on another character, and it was pretty fun, but I want something different. My other option is Black Mage because they're super cool (especially as a Lalafell).

So, would going Scholar be a good idea? I am worried that because I'll have to qeue as DPS Arcanist for the early dungeons, I'll have no idea what to do when I unlock the job and start playing it in the more challenging instances, especially since I'm new to healing.

If you would like to heal I would suggest WHM even though there are a lot out there. If you are new to MMOs SCH is very challenging to play well. You have to be very aware of your situation, manage emnity and most importantly you will need to micro manage your pet to get on par with WHM healing which is easier and straight forward.

Don't get me wrong, SCH are awesome but for a new player it might be a bit too much to take in (I don't know you though and you might do just fine..) Just some food for thought :)

cure I

cure II when freecure procs or when you need that extra healing potency

cure iii just about never

So, so true...
Had a pug WHM in a HM primal fight and he kept spamming Cure 2, was low on MP constantly. How the hell do players like that get so far?

On other news:
Lag in AK during prime time is getting out of hand. They really need to fix that. It's only going to get worse with more hitting lvl 50 and no additional content until 2.1.
Also give us an EU server park ffs.

If any of you are ever trying to put a group together for Titan HM on Ultros, I'm Chocolat Glace on there. 50 SCH and I don't really mind doing it whenever as long as I'm home.

So nice being able to continue my story-quests again. I powered through Coerthas since I was afraid of it becoming bugged again. I worked my way up to Stone Vigil, despite getting maybe an hour of sleep last night before I called it quits.

I had no idea how much those gil currency from quests add up! I had a bunch in my bank that I obtained via myself leveling and sold them today. I jumped from around 50,000 gil to over 200,000. I know that might not be a lot to some people, but it surprised me.

I'm debating whether I should purchase my pre-relic weapon so I can have it just as I hit level 50 or go for Ifrit's weapon instead. Is gil used for anything else super-important or am I free to spend it on my pre-relic weapon? It's around 45,000 with slotted materia.

Got my Ruru claws tonight, I was really happy. Then I watched my brother lose the spear next run to an AF carry DRG with a L47 spear who had just joined us. Wasn't so happy then. :/

Also tried Titan HM for the first time tonight. We got him past the heart on the first run, wiped at around the 35-40% mark. Doesn't seem that tough, it's just not being where his big hitters land and memorizing what he's gonna do.

Aside from puny repair bills and accessories you don't really need money for much, unless you're leveling crafting without gathering things yourself. I used my AF gear till I got better drops in AK, bought a piece or two of darklight when I could afford it (using tomes from the dungeons). Right now the only money I spend is on normal quality rings and earings that I slowly spirit bind in my dungeon grinding. Then if I'm lucky those rings and earings turn into the relic materia that sell for around 15-20k on Ragnarok.

I'd say go ahead and grab that relic and the materia and enjoy it.

Thanks for the reply!

I'm halfway to 49 so I still have some time. I'll monitor the prices on the item and see what the range is and [hopefully] purchase one when it's not too expensive. >:)

I might even decide to take the quest upon myself and attempt crafting the item for myself. It would be a great sense of accomplishment if I did, and I would save some gil [for the future housing and such]. I guess it depend son how difficult it is.

That was actually my original plan. How cool it would be to craft your relic weapon, meld your own materia to it and begin the arduous journey of finishing the weapon quest... but then my blacksmith was only lvl22, and I wanted to get my relic a little quicker. Unfortunately I'm stuck on the invisible wall of no titan parties till I'm 'exp + dl gear only'

I'm loving the game though and have had generally positive experience with other players, mainly because I ignore the not so good experiences.

I will admit, the personal journey of crafting the relic myself will likely be something I look back and remember [for better or worse]. I think I'll go ahead and do it since I'm not in a super-determined state of urgency to reach end-game raiding [there's plenty of time for that]. >:)

I'm planning on hitting 50 tomorrow and [hopefully] finishing the story-quests. Then I'll try to grab Ifrit's weapon as a temporary upgrade until I can replace it with something else.

Cure 3 costs more MP than cure 2, and has less cure potency. The special thing about it is that it has an AoE attached to it, but it is insanely small - 4 yalms. It's not completely useless, though. There are rare cases where the DPS are close enough for it to be useful, especially during Garuda HM. It's just not something you use commonly.

Thanks! I guess I won't worry too much about it. Shame it isn't more useful.

So when does the leveling become a drag? I'm almost level 43 but as far as the story goes, I'm only on level 36 quests I hope that will spare me.

Pretty bummed. Asked for about 30 mins with no avail for any GAF-ers to run Praetorium with me, so I just solo queued. Ended up getting locked out of two fights (including the final battle) because I was watching cutscenes and one of the tanks was an asshole going "lolnopegottaspeedrunit"

At least the cutscenes were awesome, but still =/

Sorry friend. Sometimes people are just busy with other things. Doesn't seem like a lot of people were on either.

What if the first tank gets ring out?

Then they were useless and shouldn't have come. That isn't something a tank has to worry about on that fight unless he back himself off.

If your dps can't kill the heart without needing to build up LB, you aren't going to have a good time after the heart anyway. Just saying.

Thanks for the advice guys! I'm going to mull it over with my friend tomorrow. Having Summoner as an alt if I don't like Scholar does sounds pretty cool. I also have Conjurer as the same level as my Arcanist right now if I decide on White Mage. The options are a little overwhelming, haha.

Made 48 last night by completing my hunt log, woo.

Are there any quests at 48, and if so, where might they be? 47 was completely dry of quests, hoping there are some before 49 :p

Hit Lv 30 on my Lancer yesterday and barely beat the Lv 30 quest on my second attempt. It was very intense. I think I kited in circles with 30ish HP at some point and had to use 3 Hi-Potions.
I then went on to get Pugilist to 10 and will now level Marauder to 15 to unlock Dragoon.
Fun times!

It is cruel and unusual that I have to level the sissy healer class in order to be a Paladin.

2 more levels of shooting wimpy rocks at people before I can go back to having fun I guess

So, is it possible to renew your subscription early, before your trial period is up? I still have 2 weeks left on my trial period but I'd like to tweak my character's appearance sooner rather than later. I can't seem to figure out where/how I can do this.

Level Cap, COMPLETED!!

Artifact Armor, OBTAINED!!!

Seriously, tomorrow I'm just going to run around for hours just admiring how pretty my character looks in this stuff. XD

I mean, just so awesome looking! XD

Cat people....

Well, I guess it could be worse. You could be Lalafell

Mog Station > Account Services > Subscription Services

?

You can set up auto-renewal there but you can't tack on say 30 days, unless I'm missing something. I swear I poked around there for 15-20 minutes and couldn't find what I was looking for.

Played around with my UI, I like this setup I have going (might look huge, trust me it's hella small looking upon it on my 46" HDTV):

Did a Dzemael Darkhold DF run with friend of mine tonight. It was horrible. Tank was awful and a bard who only did one ability. Luckily my friend is a killer bard and dished out some terrific DPS.

Friend is in GAF fc. Still unsure how to join; I did all the guild work steps...

Nope, you'll get the 30 days rewards after the free time ends.

Edit: Unless you're in Europe and bought a prepaid card. Otherwise you get them when you get charged.

And not all cat people are furries :(

It's gonna take some time for people to not only learn the fight, but get the gear required to be able to clear Titan. I'm hoping to get lucky and join a good set up pugs some time this week then Relic ahoy~

Got THM to 25, only one more level for Swiftcast, then it's either try for 30 to unlock BLM or get back to leveling ACN for Eye for an Eye, which seems like a nice skill to have for my WHM (plus I want to unlock Scholar to try it, seems like an interesting job).
