Valve announces SteamOS

To add to the discussion what the last symbol means I think it is partnerships. Them announcing partners that are committed to release native apps for Steam OS would be huge.

But they said that "in the coming weeks" there will be announcements of games receiving SteamOS ports, not in the "coming days".

Has this been posted?

This is what I think it will most likely be. Partnerships with hardware developers, publishers (SEGA, Deep Silver, Paradox, etc), and developers.

I'm hoping for release date info and pricing. I'm sure the specs will be strong enough to handle anything thrown at it for the next few years. If Valve makes it affordable, then it will become my main PC gaming box and my current PC will be delegated to all office use.

Triggers and bumpers are organized in such a way that you can comfortably rest your middle fingers on the triggers and the index fingers on the bumpers when playing dual analog games.

I know that's the intent... but does anyone actually play like that? Myself... and everyone i've ever played with uses their index fingers for both triggers and bumpers. Middle fingers stay resting underneath next to the ring fingers.

IMHO, duplicate face buttons (or hell... additional ones) should be placed underneath as they are in "Scuff-styled" controllers... where it is natural.

I wonder how EA is going to react to all this. Are they going to bring EA games back to Steam, are they going to make their own OriginBox, are they going to release a special linux Origin app and ask people to sideload it like the Amazon app store on Android phones, or are they going to simply ignore it and hope it goes away.

Apparently according to a gaffer Valve are working on their own VR goggles.

I dont buy this at all. Valve has been pretty supportive of OR since its announcement. Hell Gabe was in the damn KS video!

I bet they announce some sort of partnership. Hell I bet its the reason we havent heard of any console makers sweeping them up yet.

The post from 4chan is probably fake, I have seen various videos and interviews where Gabe himself praises Intel hardware and its Miracast functionality...

I can only stay for a few minutes and then I have to run off to clinical but at least I will get to see this announcement live at least.

Let's do this.

5 minutes!

9 mins!.. 'til my class starts. ;-;

Screw it, this is far more important.

This was me, watching Matt Soell reveal halo at Macworld '99. Yes they actually streamed stuff way back then too.

I never liked Physics anyway, dropped Pre-Engineering major and went Art.

The biggest problem is that you are missing the speed and accuracy of a mouse, and that cant be fixed with analog sticks

I'm thinking they'll add a trackball or digital pad that functions as a trackball instead of two analogue sticks. I might have to cancel my PS4 pre-order if the controller is good enough. 1 analogue stick + trackball would be a good match IMO.

I don't know, the user said Carmack confirmed this at QuakeCon during a panel featuring Jeri Ellsworth. Have yet to see any other sources, confirmation though.

As it turns out. nVidia have been working with Valve on this. What say you now expert?

Read what it says , you believe Valve and Nvidia are specifically announcing stuff to coincide with the AMD announcement ?

I say anyone who believes Valve are doing something like Steam OS on one hand and colluding to piss of hardware vendors on the other probably need to have a word with themselves.

valve are making a controller

the console business is too big and valve wants in
I am not doubting that they are working on a controller. Just the example posted is not fixing the issues that neer fixing toch be usable for a steambox. Paddles on the back, who cares, you need a trackball or something.
