This Lightning shit plus future vanity slots is going to make me not want to play this game. Yuck.

On a lighter note, I had my first AK nightmare group! Yay! The two lowest DPS I have ever seen join forces to stand in all AoEs and bicker with each other the entire time. It's normally such a smooth, quick affair lately, and the wall boss is one of my favorites in the game, sad to have it all spoiled by nonsense. I'm a patient person, but even I have my limits.

Just find a bunch of like minded people and do AK runs together.

I guess I should start leveling up a pugalist. Wanted to get my archer to level 30 first though. Its only pugalist to level 15 for bard class? I know its archer level 30.

Yes, you only need LV 15 pugilist for bard. But ideally you might need "Blood for Blood" from LV34 lancer for your bard as well. At least that's what I'm trying to achieve.

How do we get into the GAF Linkshell/waiting list for the Ultros server Company? I've already filled out the recruitment form on the website, but I'm not sure how to go about joining a Linkshell.

Send a /tell to Strawberry Shortcake or Maple Cookie when they're online to see if there are any spots open.

I see so many GAF people playing. I feel so jealous. I probably wouldn't be able to keep up with the guild chat anyway.

Seriously though, you guys should add me to your friends list. :P I'm on Ultros, I'm sure you've seen me around. My name is Ayperos Ray.

Ugh, was hoping to get Battlemage Robe and I had let the bloody THR get nearly all the other items and yet they still were greedy enough to roll need on the robe as well. I mean on one hand I don't need it on my main job since I nearly have most of my AF armor but it'd come in handy for leveling up ARC/THR/SMN...ugh

On a separate note, the tank and my LNC friend did splendidly.

The chats really died down these past few weeks. Initially the chat moved so crazy that I'd filter out GAF chat while in dungeuns, because they'd move Party Speak off the screen before I could read it.

Now, well, it often goes several minutes at a time without somebody saying anything.

In fact, I often suspect I'm the biggest chatterbox on there right now.

What are the ilevel 90 armor options and how do they compare to each other? AF2, BC drops, and Allagan?

There are only 2 iLVL 90 sets.

AF2 and Allegan

AF2 is acquired with Mythology Tomes
Allegan armor pieces and accessories are dropped from Turns 1, 2, 4, and 5 of BC
Allegan weapons are dropped from turn 5 BC

2 loot chests per completion of turns 1, 2, 4, and 5
The single known completion of turn 5 yielded 1 Allegan wrist and 1 Allegan weapon.

Hm suppose I'll just farm up for AF2 since I'm not really good at actively searching for BC parties.

Nooooo D:
I wanted to buy 1 piece of material on the AH and I bought all of them by accident. 9500 gils lost. Fuck. I'm already so poor.

It's funny, last night my wife was farming fates in N. Thanalan and this random guy started sending tells to her going on and on about how great GAF was. She snapped this screenshot, while dead:

He was like "Your website is sick!" (think he meant the guild site?) and "How does one join the GAF?" I told him to register for neogaf and post on the FFXIV OT haha, didn't know what else to tell him.

Turn 1: Gloves, Head, Ring
Turn 2: Gloves, Necklace
Turn 3: No loot.
Turn 4: ???

Just from my runs so far.

That feel when you're level 40, and are getting so close to artifact, but won't be able to get it for another week or so.

The drawbacks of a Static Party.

Time to keep working on my tradeskills! >_>

Holy is so good on those FATE fights where there are just a ton of enemies you have to kill.

Welp, seems like it might be time to take a breather on WHM and get ARC and THR up to speed. I could use some of those cross skills.

Not a bad night, finally got a book for my SCH so I can do the quests now, that also completes my Garuda set at 9/9 and two more Axes for the collection.

I plan to pick this up in a months time, and play for a very long time. As a newcomer to MMOs, is there anything in particular I should know about XIV? Are there classes that are just complete crap that I should avoid? I think I'm gonna go with the Arcanist into Summoner, or Thamaturge into Black Mage because I like magic and AOE spells. But XIV lets you swap jobs on the fly? Or am I wrong? Like I said, this is where I get confused.

Are either of these classes in demand, or are there too many of them?

My PS3 copy should be here tomorrow, hopefully.

Any recommendations for a beginner, in terms of races/jobs etc.?

I've always enjoyed playing Tank/Caster hybrids, so would a Paladin be the best bet? i.e, start as a Gladiator/Conjurer...

Where is the best place to farm level 28 FATES or so.

South Shroud or Eastern La Noscea.

Choose whichever race you like (it really doesn't matter in the long run).

You can always switch jobs later.

Gladiator (Paladin) = tank.
Conjurer (White Mage) = healer.

SE fucked up big time by not making the multi-classing more relevant. Had a really cool experience leveling up my Pugilist in the Ul'dah starting areas. Very few people were running fates and I was attempting ones that were 2-3 levels above my level. This isn't a problem when many people are doing the same. The world bosses especially are very brutal with such small, underleveled numbers.

Anyhow, about 3 people including myself were attempting a world boss. Two GLD and myself. It was pretty obvious our HP would never last and if we had only been using our standard attacks we would have never defeated it. Lucky for me I had Physick equipped and managed to keep the tank healed. Between the three of us we stacked all the dots we could (from MRD and ARC) and we managed to win. The boss was level 14 and I think all of us were under 10.

FFXI promoted a similar kind of idea. Give you're fighters magic spells through subjobs! But in reality it never worked like that since the spells would be completely ineffective even at low levels (and you would barely have any mana to cast). This was there chance to make it better.
