I'm in no way complaining as sadly if triple dip for another P3 but other than the movie is there anything pointing to a remake of P3?

Really like your name :P

The rumors have it that there should have been a large announcement from Atlus this year at TGS. Whether it was delayed by SEGAs aquirement of Index we don't know, but I thought they stated there were multiple games. Add in that the Persona development team started P4:G with psp in mind and later changed it to the Vita.

The movie may be really tied in to the announcement, just think about it. 20:00 is when something starts and there are just a few hours until the "dark hours" which is a theme in Persona 3 :D

That "Persona 3DS" is largely believed to have turned into Soul Hackers anyways.

IDK why people keep saying this. SH and Persona aren't the same at all, plus it's not like those lists are strict and they have to follow them.

More than likely the Persona team haven't decided anything regarding a Persona game for 3DS, and other people thought it'd be a good idea to port SH to the 3DS. Not that Persona 3DS turned into SH.

Nothing indicated that Atlus would have a big announcement at TGS. Pretty much all Atlus games are announced through Famitsu.

Well if we are just going to throw out platforms then P5 on the PC as well as the PS3 or what not. You know the PC has been good to you Sega. Time to repay the favor and give us some sweet Persona 5 action. I think a Steam release of P5(hell even the older Personas) will put up very nice numbers.

Then it has to be the rumours resulting from all the hype from E3 and gamescon :P Do Atlus announce their games to Famitsu close to their release day or months before?

My favourite thing about this kind of reasoning is how it treats trends as though they're unbreakable laws or something.

There are valid financial reasons causing those trends, though.

The older consoles have larger installed bases, and because fans of the game do not expect cutting-edge graphics, this gives them more potential sales. Moreover, since the new consoles are not coming out in Japan this year, they would likely have small installed bases if the game were announced for Summer 2014.

The pattern of releasing on consoling and later porting to handheld gets many people to buy two copies and gives them a steady revenue stream between major new releases.

No, the trends are not unbreakable, but I think if you want to argue that these trends won't hold, you have the burden of explanating for why the causes are no longer valid or why there is a new external factor that changes the balance. I haven't set seen a convincing argument to this effect. People speculate on external factors, such as one of the platform holders offering a financial incentive, but we really have no evidence for that.

persona 5 kickstarter announcement. Sega needs to make sure persona can actually sell. Look out for the paid demo on the 3ds eshop

Sega's many things, but at least they aren't Capcom.

As someone who plays a lot of japanese games, I prefer Sega above many other companies because they still make a lot of games, though maybe only for the japanese audience...
At least they are not known to destroy ips, except the big elephant in the room: Sonic (which has a bit better)

Capcom on the other hand still has the rehash-mentality from Street Fighter. I really believe that MH4 looked worse than MH3U and I wonder why. And the megaman series, a sad chapter in gaming history.

And Square-Enix, I dont know what they are doing anymore.

Alright, here's even more proof regarding my theory. The mobile site (p-ch.jp/sp) has the banners in a rectangular form. The three squars on both sites are referred to as banners, meaning it definitely is for new announcements, or something to be shown.

But that's not the only weird thing. In the source code of the site, the site is described as "game" or "og=game" (Open Graph descriptor)

On November 24, it seems the full site will open, and it says in Japanese, on the header for the image "Something is happening..."

Hmm...

There is also no Arc System Works logo, or mentions of any other games in the source code. The site is described as for a game in the Open Graph part of the source, with the date (everything on the site is an image), having the header text "November 24, 2013, something is happening..."
The images, which are titled "bnr", means banner. Something here really makes me think this is the P5 announcement, and barely has anything to do with P4U2. I really think Atlus wants us to believe it's P4U2 by putting the locations on the site (e.g. Osaka, Fukuoka), but maybe that's for a Persona conference. Maybe Atlus will be holding a Persona conference, and that's what the locations are for.

Really, a save the date site for 2 months from now? No game announcement is worth that, tired of these hype schemes.

I agree that it doesn't read like a game announcement anyway with specific cities listed. No point getting excited, will see what they have to say in November.

There's at least something to do with a game, at least, what the source code says.

Wonder what p-ch stands for? Most japanese use ch as channel and since there was sort of a channel on Persona 4, it could fit. Not only that:

It really reminds me of something Persona 4 relevant, but since there are 3 boxes, could it mean 3 games? Maybe one for each: Persona 3(coincides with the movie), Persona 4(how about an Arena port or something), and Persona 5?

My best guess is three boxes for three games, and I'd guess they are:

1.) Persona 5 for the 3DS.

2.) Ports of the three PS1 Persona games to mobile platforms.

3.) Sequel to the Persona fighting game for Xbone & PS4.

All of your guesses will probably be wrong.

If those are your best guesses then you really should stop guessing. Like, for good. Why would the P-Studios logo be present for games they didn't technically even make? Why wouldn't the ArcSys logo be present for your third guess?

1.) Based on what?

2.) Doubt it, those games are fairly dated.

3.) Already confirmed to be on PS3...

P-Studio makes Persona games, right? So if they're likely making Persona 5, why wouldn't their logo be there?

P-Studio didn't exist until recently, and definitely didn't exist back when Persona 1/2 came out. :P

Also, your third guess is illogical and silly because then the ArcSys logo would be there, and it's not.

If it does come out on 3ds there better be an awesome themed XL bundle. Hopefully better looking than the Pokemon bundle. Both of those look like crap.

I didn't really like persona 4 golden(it just didn't click with me) but I am willing to give a new persona a shot! I would be disappointed if it was on the 3DS, because I would prefer if it was HD on the PS3/4, and vita. Even though the vita isn't hd, it still has dat oled. :)

Are you guys serious with the 3DS stuff ? They didn't make Catherine just for the sake of making a new IP. They did it to get some experience coding for current-gen consoles before making the next Persona game. I think they've expressly said that.

Oh, both the P5 domain, and the P-ch domain were registered on the same site, Onamae/GMO Internet. I'm pretty sure this is P5 now. Both have a different DNS server, but they both lead to the same domain hosting site.

Why does P5 threads always turn into threads on what console it'll be on?

I wonder if this is going to be some sort of real life event since they have cities listed.

Yo, thanks for the detective work, dude.

Demo locations, like Miladesn theorized.

Considering the fact P3/4 had 17min demonstration videos around their announcements I bet they have something in a playable state.

You mean the P5 site that had us freaking out a couple months ago? Good to know, I didn't want to wait two months just to get trolled.

I still wish it wasn't red. Purple or lavender would be hot.

Persona 5 will be a very game different depending on if it's PS3, PS4, Wii U, 3DS, or Vita in various ways.

It's kind of the first step in figuring out what type of game Persona 5 will actually be.

I speculate:
  • By and large a similar motif to P3/P4. Calendars are staying, as is a hub for different dungeons.
  • What I expect to change is the roguelike style. I bet dungeons will be static, much larger, and more involved.
  • I also think there'll be more than one town, or at least a much larger, more interactive one, like P2's Sumaru City.
  • Dual protagonists are likely. Possibly only a female one if they're feeling ballsy, but I doubt it.
  • Press turn, not One More!
  • Expect all the fusion updates from SMT IV. Like it or hate it, that was the pinnacle of the fusion system.
  • More creative monsters. You'll be fighting demons, not just shadows.
    And they'll have personalities again.
  • Older cast. Probably still high school, but seniors at very least.
(God I hope so.)

I'm pretty sure it'll be the same gameplay-wise on Vita and anything more powerful than that.

Negotiation isn't coming back, if that's what you're hinting at.

Dual protagonists, but no female? How on earth do you even remotely see that happening?
