What's so different about Highlander vs. Midlander Hyur? That's a big gap between the two. All the other races are pretty close between the two clans.

After reading through the comments, I'm more surprised that people are charging 250k-350k gil for Titan HM runs. Like, what in the actual fuck?
That's like half a good day's income for a crafter.
And surely less than a Vanya piece.

Any other fishers out there, or anybody know of a leveling guide for fishing? My fishing is at level 16 right now, and I haven't been using leves. I know there are a few sites out there with the complete list of fishing areas and the fish in each area, but I was wondering if there are also resources out there pointing out what bait to use for each fish, etc. I also want to find the best fishing spots for each level range, in terms of spots that have fewer lower-level fish that lower your potential exp gains.

Proof that the Lalafell's aren't nearly as cool as the Tarus. Almost all the gain for Miquote people came as the expense of the Lalafels (and a lot from the Elezen too)

Hume - 28.97% (up 4% points in FFXIV)
Elvan - 18.19% (down 7% points in FFXIV)
Mithra - 15.47% (up 17% points in FFXIV)
Galka - 7.48% (steady)
Kind of interesting that adding a male option for the Miqote more than doubled the Mithra count in FFXI, yet adding a female choice for Roegadyn did nothing.
Did they ever make up some reason they changed the race names from XI? It seems kinda stupid TBH.

just keep using the highest level bait you can equip and head to areas within your level range. when you get into the 20's lures become available and you'll be able to focus on specific fish. the real exp comes from the HQ's you get and Perception is what you want on equipment. I'm going slowly though, I only really fish to complete GC missions and cook. on the good side, it's not as much of a grind compared to the other gathering classes.
I've also looked for a good place for info about targeting specific fish but all I have found is the info at xivdb.com

Not actually a good weapon, but man it looks cool. Bodes well for future weaponry.
Well that sucks that its not good. Considering the amount of trouble you have to go through, you'd think it would be pretty nice.

Did an AK duty finder run and the tank could not keep aggro on anything. As far as I could tell the only +enmity moves he used were overpower. Basically he would run up and start attacking something, by the time I needed to heal him I would get aggro from the rest of the pack and then he would spam overpower until they maybe stopped attacking me. This cycle would repeat every time I needed to heal him.
On the first boss he wanted the rest of the party to run up in a tree where he said the adds could not target us. I don't know but being able to attack an enemy that can't attack back due to geometry issues seems like the definition of an exploit. I told him I didn't want to do it that way and he just pretty much ignored the adds while they raged on the rest of the party. We messily beat the first boss and died on the wall mainly due to him completely ignoring the gnats. I dropped party and later found out this dude is on my server. Fun fact, you can get around the 15 minute duty abandonment timer by joining a group with another person and having them queue.

Given that most people get stuck with bronze in those silly fates I think it's a good idea to not make them all that viable.

Had trouble with Aiatar dungeon boss fight as a tank and felt like quitting the game. Let down 2 groups in taking care of boss not being able to evade dragon breath attack and pull away from poison HP regen areas.
Ended up deciding to try to take a break and get conjuror up to 15 so I can get Paladin unlocked.

I just ran Aurum Vale with a great pug. It started off bad with the tank leaving us after one DPS making an innocent comment towards them [had something to do with the positioning of the enemies]. Thankfully we got another tank quickly afterwards and we proceeded to one-shot each of the bosses with a couple of the members being uninitiated with the place, myself included.
I just have Wandering Palace, Castrum Meridianum, Amdapoor Keep, and The Praetorium remaining, but they will have to wait. Despite myself being Level 50, and outfitted with decent gear, I want to complete the initial story-line first before I delve in.

Just make sure you have full aggro on the acid pool parts and run as far away as you can. As for dragon breath...best I can say is try to feel when it'll use, and the stun. Pacification helps at times, since right after it wears off, enemies usually try to use the skill. Of course the instant you see full resist on a stun, do what Ken said or bail out to the side asap.

After wiping over and over and over to ADS. I finally made it to turn 4 coil tonight. Yay!
Gadzooks, I managed to get through that very last, un-skippable cutscene after the end credits of the game, when the servers went down.
Talk about cutting it cloooose!!! XD
Thankfully, I should be able to rewatch most of those cutscenes in my hotel room tomorrow. Shame I couldn't get into Praea five or ten minutes earlier, but, it's not the end of the world.

Wow, GAF's formatting is completely broken right now.
Anyways, I love these last-minute CM runs I do which always literally end at the last second before maint. We killed the last boss at 12:01 am. Good job, guys!

Took down Garuda HM (finally). I've been focusing mostly on getting my PLD geared enough to get Titan down. As a tank I should be geared enough but I will have to wait a bit longer to help my friends (who are all DPSs) get geared enough to do Titan as well.
I've been thinking though, I read earlier in the thread that I don't necessarily need Relic + 1 weapons as a PLD and have been considering just getting my AF2 pieces. Would this be a better investment over getting Relic + 1 first? I'd be able to either get the chest or the relic +1 upgrade (or multiple accessories).

You have to do 2 of those to complete the initial storyline.
I had a similar experience on Aurum Vale. On the first pull the tank pulled the whole area and left after that. With the new tank we got we one shot everything even if two of us were new to the dungeon (me the healer and one of the DPS).

Oh, and I overclocked my 7950 to 1150Mhz and my framerates got even worse. The game runs like absolute shit now. 12-15fps with no AA, only 4x aniso, SSAO turned off completely, character and monster shadows turned off, and a bunch of other stuff turned down or off.
Trine 2 also runs worse than on my old card. Everything else is sooooooooooooooooooo good.
Which are the two mandatory for story and do they have extensive cut-scenes? I'm trying to decide whether I should save those for a "relaxed" GAF FC run.

I believe all your stats including armor get pared down.

It's not entirely clear actually. Supposedly equipment stats get parred down, but not entirely. Replaying the early dungeuns in near-endgame gear is a breeze, even if every other stat is identical. Granted, some of that's just having more experience, but I definitely notice my character dealing heavier damage as well.
I'm hoping to finish the main story-line tomorrow, but we'll see how it goes. I'm still doing all of the side-quests in the areas that they main quests take me despite not getting XP for them [since I'm already level 50].
Oh well, at least I'm getting more out of the story as well as coins to sell at merchants for gil.

You should have saved them for your other jobs! Trust me getting to 50 with fates is a real drag.
