The voice acting is so strong in that scene that it made me uncomfortable. Kudos to the actress for Kathleen - the whole scenario would have fallen flat and been completely ineffective if she hadn't sounded genuinely terrified, fearing for her life. Impressive, especially if she's as incidental a character as it seems.

Whoa, seriously? I haven't replayed The Experiment yet, and I certainly didn't torment Kathy simply cause it felt... Uh... Evil for a "benign" spirit to do. I might have to check it out again with all these gushing posts though.
And if the TriBeCa footage is any indication, performances across the board seem to be far, far stronger than HR. There's a consistency here that really pleased me

I really liked the demo to this game. It feels like an evolved Heavy Rain and I loved terrorizing as a ghost haha. Man, I wish this game came out some other time. Any other year and it would be an early purchase. I'm just having a hard time justifying buying another game until I get my PS4/new gaming PC.

I know the feeling. The game doesn't really fit in my budget at all but the demo was just too good and impressions from the full game aren't making the wait any easier.

As a fan of Heavy Rain, the demo really impressed me. It felt like a much more fluid Heavy Rain. The story looks good. The acting is better(from what I saw) in the demo.
The demo shows you a cinema like preview after the end which looks good. Some parts look like Heavy Rain in the cinema, and look like PS3 graphics usually look. Other parts are killer graphically speaking, for current gen. I did notice at times, Ellen's face goes black like the face map over the poly fails, but, it's rare. Other than that, superb! Played through twice. Love the different ways you can go about doing things.

Okay, that's good to hear. I was going to hold off because some early impressions video I saw (forget which media outlet it was) a while back trashed the controls...but I want every reason to believe this is good and worth picking up due to the very positive experience I had with Heavy Rain.
I'm also very fine with "watching" a game's story unfold (it's the movie junkie in me). Lack of control over a given scenario rarely bothers me.
Oh my god cannot wait for this.

Lots of Sony games are censored in Europe, not just for the USK version.
The last of us is PEGI 18 but still has the multiplayer censored across all Europe.
From some other thread I heard that Sony uses the same built for all European countries. They needed to cut some violent scenes for Germany. The US version apparently has some nudity cuts.

snake might as well not vote if that were the case. not supporting the game will not change any laws in place for such games, and will only hurt the game more than the rules that censor it.

2 violent scenes are cut. That better be ONLY for germany. I can't remember the last time something was censored in Austria or UK.

Again, they could create a different version for European countries that are not called Germany. From what I remember, they even create a UK version which still features the German cuts.

This game is PEGI 16/USK 16 here. My guess is Sony didn't want a USK 18/ PEGI 18 version so they cut the game (two violent scenes). And yes, it includes the UK version as well.

So is this looking to be another terribly written david cage affair? Or has the writing gotten better? Because to me thats the biggest reason why walking dead was a better heavy rain than heavy rain. That, and the voice cast of heavy rain were brain damaged.
Dialogue is still iffy in parts, but it's an improvement over Heavy Rain. Voice acting is much better, too.
It's difficult to judge the writing from a 30 minute demo though, but I'm hoping that there is no ridiculous twist and the story doesn't become a convoluted clusterfuck.

hard to believe that is true for the us version, considering there has not been any censorship of a nude scene in recent years, in any medium that is appropriately rated.
about the pegi 16 rating, sony probably wanted to broaden the audience and since the rating system in eu is much more flexible than the esrb ratings in north america, cutting two violent scenes probably netted sony the difference between a pegi 16 and a pegi 18 and suffice to say that is huge.

Of course. People would be pissed if they miss out on story details just because they didn't buy the SE. It was always clear to me that it would be a scene focused on gameplay. It looks rather cool to me, so I'm looking forward to it.
If this is true (which we don't know for sure yet, Quantic Dream is saying no), then yes. Which would be bullshit considering Heavy Rain wasn't censored and Quantic uses violence very deliberate. If a scene has extreme violence then it is for a fucking reason. So I hope this isn't true.
So far it looks MUCH better. Voice acting is good. We obviously don't know the ending.
