Beyond: Two Souls emabrgo date

So I just finished, just about 13 hours or so (so over the 10 hours David Cage said).

It was an emotional rollercoaster ride. I felt angry and sad. Angry due to some shit people did in the game (wanted to kill those people) and sad (most of the time). I even cried about 4 times or so.

The story is nothing like Heavy Rain, more sci-fi. It was good, very well (both exciting and emotional) and I had just a couple of pauses.

I guess the reason for the embargo lift is so close release is simply due to it's easy to spoil the big "thing" about the game, very easy. When I write my review, it's gonna be incredible difficulty to write about the story.

The game was awesome. Buy it.

I really want to write more about how the game/story is built up since it's nothing I guess you GAFfers will expect it to be. But due to the embargo I can't. So Im gonna just say I was very confused the first 2-3 hours, then things got more clear about how the game/story was built.

So there's a big twist in the game then?

Awesome stuff, cheers for the impressions, by the way. Got my pre-order in already ^_^

Fuck me. Freaking awesome. Thank you so much for these impressions. Sounds like some reviewers might not like the controls or the sci-fi aspect, but it should still review rather decently. At least there seems to be nothing that breaks the entire game.

I feel relieved now and I'm back on the hype train lol

Saying that there's a twist, even without mentioning what the twist is, is a spoiler in itself. I fucking hate when people do that.
I expected it. But "big thing" doesn't necessarily have to mean huge twist right at the end. We'll see...

Thanks for the impressions, fantomena.

Man, it sounds pretty damn good. Also, 13 hours? That's longer than I was expecting.
I knew it. Some of the later areas a pretty damn large from what I have heard. The gameplay lead actually estimated 10-15 hours depending on playstyle and choices, so I wasn't too worried.

If my demo impressions are any indicator, they did the right thing by holding off the reviews.
You are kinda in the minority though ;)

13 hours seems pretty good but perhaps just worth a rent instead of a buy.
If you like trophies or want to play it again to see different endings or make different choices you can certainly get more out of it than that. I think I will play it twice, not more because then it becomes repetitive and could affect my overall thoughts on the game. 26 hours certainly is enough for me to buy. Of course if you only want to play it once and have no interest in trophies or playing it again with a friend, you might think differently.

I like the fact that the game is more sci-fi to set it apart from Heavy Rain. I'm going to skip the demo and just go into it fresh, I think.

Where is that logic coming from ? Did Rockstar also anticipate bad reviews for GTAV when the embargo was the day before release ? Guys...

No, but reviews don't really matter to Rockstar. They're the exception not the rule.

When a game is really good and the company behind it thinks so, the review embargo usually goes up a week or so early because that way the marketing department can make ads that use quotes and, more importantly, scores. Obviously R* games don't need that at all.

I can't even see my trophies.

About the "twist" thing. As far as I understood, there is no "twist". Just a reveal. And for the love of god, be careful when you guys read reviews or watch video reviews.

Im not sure if Im even gonna write anything about the story in my review.

Focus on gameplay and atmosphere/characters.

How can you not see your trophies Oo Normally they become visible once you unlock them. Weird.

Shiiiiiiiiiitttttt. But STILL, there are 23 endings no? God damn, how do you even know if you got the "true" ending :O

Total guess here, I swear i did not play the game, spoiler mark just in case:
Willem Dafoe is the main bad guy
. Sorry if I am being Captain Obvious here.

Obviously I haven't played Beyond, but for me (good) adventure games are as much about the puzzles as they are the story. Heavy Rain, at least, was more about the "experience": watching glassy eyed 3d models act out a B-movie thriller while you push buttons for quick time events (admittedly they were pretty well done for quick time events). Sorry if I'm being insulting, I'm honestly more curious in what people actually see in David Cage's games than anything else.

I'm sure most, if not all, people go into Cage's games expecting an experience not normally found in mainstream games.

I tried to get my friend to play the demo and he couldn't get past the training part. He kept messing up. I was absolutely dumbfounded. He finally gave up because he "didn't care."

I'm not sure what the stipulations of specific embargoes are but because I'm curious:

Surely posting your "feelings" and reactions during and post game is not allowed?

I found some German sources ( http://www.schnittberichte.com/news.php?ID=6157 and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wIGjPQ1Se9k at 5:13) and apparently in two scenes the violence is toned down.

No one really knows why these cuts were made, because the game was only rated PEGI 16/USK 16 in Europe anyways.

Now i'm wondering if the only cuts are from the demo scenes that people have played or if there are loads of cuts still waiting to be discovered throughout the game?

I'm getting sick off all these cuts we keep getting from sony games around here.

Nah they aren't from the demo scenes. Some german site spoiled one scene so...yeah. Not this time , Sony. Nope. You can't fool me again.

If it really turns out that this game is cut i won't buy it i'm dead serious, i have enough of this bullshit.

Will youtube the whole game if true.

You have to kill a doctor with some sort of iron bar

I don't know about the other scene though

SCEA have confirmed it will not be available digital on PSN on day one. Unfortunately they haven't confirmed when it will be but they 'are looking into it'.

That's a shame because I only buy games digital.

Spielegrotte.de (a very good german retailer) confirmed cuts:

EU- Version (AT, UK, GER, etc): At least two scenes cut (violence)
US-Version: Nude-scenes cut

News & Infos

If this is true there's no uncut version worldwide.
