Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | September 2013 | Token Indie Thread

Well, if you like tekken I think there is a pretty good hance you will like DOA.

This is not true at all.

I don't like Tekken at all but I like DOA.

Exactly. I love Tekken and do not like DoA... everything always felt to me as if Tekken were the critically acclaimed A-tier movie while DoA was the B-tier knockoff that wanted to be Tekken so badly but it just... wasn't.

I don't like VF much either, but VF never felt like a bad Tekken knockoff to me.
I'm still going to give DoA5+ a proper shot at some point, but my previous impressions of the series weren't really positive.

Yeah, It's not available digitally in Europe (Europe Vita people should complain to/tell 505 games on twitter about this)

I thought trophy hunters are usually having more patience and are more calm than normal gamers.

Not necessarily... but I understand his pain, those boss fights on crushing were ridiculously bad.

Got the invoice from my buddy in Japan ordering my Vita stuff from Amazon.co.jp

- 1 White Vita 2000 ¥ 18,995
- 1 Black/Khaki 2000 ¥ 18,995

- 1 Khaki sleeve case (from the link I just sent) ¥ 1,282
- 1 White Sleeve Case (from the link I just sent, I think you might have ordered a black one before) ¥ 1,282
- 1 64GB Memory card ¥ 8,572
- 2 PlayStation Vita Protective Film ¥ 645x2 =1290

About $510... Will try to do some videos for you guys when the stuff comes in.

Love the look of the Black/Khaki Vita:

$87 for a 64GB memory card? Yeah, we're not gonna get it for that price over here. I'll just have to settle for my 32GB memory card for now.
Liking the Black Khaki one.

I've been a fighting gamer for as long as I can remember. Each 3D fighting game above are different. VF has always been a very high precision based fighting game with all the just frames. Thus, not easy to get into. Tekken and DoA are easier to get into. Tekken started incorporating some just frames for some moves, which is highly welcomed. DoA's system is actually highly evolved, if people managed to look past the sexy sprites.

Speaking of which, where's Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and DoA5 Ultimate on the Vita? I NEED it in my VEINS!!

hey guys killzone mercenary or soul sacrifice? choosing a bundle to buy today. thanks :)

Which genre do you prefer? KZ Mercenary is a fucking technical marvel on the Vita. Soul Sacrifice is no slouch either. KZM is quite recent and probably have more players right now. You can hold off on SS until SS Delta launches. Having said that, that SS special edition Vita looks fucking great. Tough choice.

Completely different games but i say Killzone Mercenary. Its really good, this is the type of game that the system needs and it really puts the vita to great use. Personally i want more games like killzone, the psp was lacking with these types of games and couldn't do it properly anyway.

I'll co-sign toto with trails in the sky and gurmin

Fashionably late.

From today until the 30th, anyone interested in voting for next month's Game of the Month must PM me with their top 5 choices, in order of preference. If you don't provide an order, I'll assume that the order you list them in is the preference. Each game gets points in order of preference, from 5 to 1, and the game with the most points is the winner. Once a game has been chosen, I'll randomly ask someone who voted for the game as #1 to provide a short write-up for it like the one in this and the previous threads.

Criteria for voting:
  • Games voted for must have been released at any time prior to the month the thread is for, including previous months.
  • Only games released up to the 24/25th, the last PSN update days in September, will count for this round of voting.
  • Retail, Digital only and PlayStation Mobile games are all valid.
Note - If you vote for a game that's already been selected as GotM, I'll disregard it's placement and scroll everything else up by one. For reference, the following games have already been selected previously.

CHOOSE WISELY.
Don't forget guys.

While waiting for Sen no Kiseki to come in the mail. I've thought about getting around to playing Gravity Daze. Honestly, this game is actually kind of tough to play. Trying to "stealth" around really reveals the inadequacies of the camera system (it feels like it's all over the place most of the time, even when I try and "fix" it), combat can be difficult to get a sense of (although maybe this is just not touching the game for a while), and if you move somewhere else during the comic book story scenes ... good luck. I can't really bring myself to play the game in anything but short bursts.

Maybe I'll play Final Fantasy Tactics instead.

Don't forget to update it once they release the patch on Oct 3. It's said to have a long loading times (10 seconds +), and the Vita version have twice as long or something.

Yeah, I'm well aware. It looks like it's already in customs, so I'll probably have it before then. It's the Vita ver. that has the 10 second load times, I'm pretty sure.

Don't forget guys.

You know, it is always real easy to predict which game will be the game of the month. Dragon's Crown, for instance. Have we ever had a time where two or more games were having stiff competition for the title?

I am betting my arse, hahaha, that Killzone Mercenary is gonna win the next one.

Ahoy, VitaGAF! I'm a launch owner, and since right now a lurker who can post.
You people are doing a very handsome job helping people out and such!

I'll leave a brofist in particular for that one vitacat who caps locked people's faces about Totori - bought it thanks to his/her assertiveness (and thanks to that sale, of course), loved the game and made some neighboring vitamateys get it too (with great results).

(And damn, dat black/kakhi vita... glorious)

Dammit. Now I regret not getting Totori during the sale.

I am secretly holding out that they have another sale, or give it away on PS+ when Rorona comes out.

VitaGAF, VitaCat, VitaMateys....

Hahaha.

So what's the word on the Guacamelee DLC? Is it challenge levels only or is it more of an extra region?
I really like the game and finished it but haven't done those basement fighting challenges and the top of the Tule tree because I had no interest in becoming enraged ;)

Man that thread from a new vita owner turned to shit...it's like the youtube comment section over there lol

anywho KZ Merc continues to be a blast...spawning is imho still broken tho. But overall great game even online

Fantastic Map design...puts KZ3 to shame quite easily
VAN-Guards feel unique and fun. None of them feel too overpowered.
For w/e reason my K/D suck in Warzone...but great in Merc Warfare

I hope more ppl support this game. We need more of this

Lol. My k/d ratio is 0.5, low enough that I don't even care anymore

Hoping for a physical release of Rorona. Im not really a big fan of digital downloads on consoles especially with my vita's very limited 16 and 4 gb cards. However, i will buy Totori when it drops down again, i didnt have my vita (nor was i planning on getting one) when it went on sale.

So have just been catching up on some Oddworld stuff, has there been any info to whether or not New N' Tasty will be crossbuy?

Wasn't Limbo almost 2 years apart? And yet they're cross-buy.
So yeah... based on what I've seen in the past, I'm still going with "unlikely".

Limbo is the only late Vita port I can think of that had cross-buy. It's really rare for them to do that. Machinarium wasn't cross-buy, Jak wasn't cross-buy (unless you live in Europe), etc.

Mine isn't anything mind blowing either (around 1.2 k/d) but it was around .8 at one point. the right combination of weapons and VAN-guards help. I struggled with some of the guns but I think I got a combo that works best for me.

Mantis Engine is god like :D What's your go to Vanguard?

I am a huge fan of Suikoden, Tales of, Star Ocean (not 4), Megaten, Fallout, Elder Scrolls, and the pre-PS3 Square Enix.

Any RPGs to recommend? I read the love for the Atelier series and Y's here but I never played either. Where's a good starting point for both?

If you plan to pick up the new Y's, pick up Y's Seven from the psn store. Y's Seven is a pretty game and the gameplay is rock solid.

I just remembered borderlands is coming to the vita lel

Moneyhat a shooter that is better played on the PC? A-ok!

Sit aside and wait for Squeenix to localize Type-0 themselves? Ok in our book!

Seriously Sony, at least you could moneyhatted EA for a Battlefield title

Sony foot the bill for COD. That turned out well.

Eh, I believe I picked vulture. That is the one that reveals enemy locations right?

Just got my bnew 32GB card for $60. It's still sealed though the paper is tattered. Made in Taiwan but seems to be sold from Hong Kong judging by the sticker.

I want to study marketing in Japan. Classes must be a good fun.

Yeah, but that was Activision. Maybe it's just me, but I've always trusted EA more than Activision to be honest.

But it wasn't Nihilistic and Sony being too stuborn to delay the game, right? I read somewhere it was made in 3 months by the same studio that developed Resistance. They could give it to a decent developer and release the game in March instead of September.

Well... it has sold anyway, so i suppose it wasn't a bad move for them. Only for the customer.

Some of these puzzles in VLR are obtuse as fuck. I had to switch to easy a couple times to figure out what was missing. An early room I had figured out the secret file but not the escape code. Had no idea there was voice acting. Like that. Eng dub is nice. Touch geels laggy tho

well I got my ps vita today, what's the slot next to the game slot used for?? sorry if dumb question. and do I need to do a first time full charge?

Presumed to be an accessory slot, but it never got utilised. The 2000 model has removed the slot, so it'll likely never be used at all in the future.
