Personally, I expect one singular bomb to drop. Not the largest ever, but somewhere in the middle.
 
Thinking about it, maybe this was the legendary September Direct, but it got delayed due to Yamauchi's death. October 1st is a very strange date for a Nintendo Direct.
 
Where the heck is a lot of stuff?

Flipnote Studio 3D? Is this even happening anymore?
Summer update? I'm sure this is one of the reasons for the Direct
GBA/N64 VC in Wii U? Not a peep since it was mentioned.
Sega Classics on 3DS? All we know is Japan hit them
3DS Miiverse? Rumors of delays
Release date for Donkey Kong? Rumors of delays.

Don't think we forgot Iwata.

My hopes:

The direct will lead to more positivity around Mario and Donkey Kong and be focused mostly on those titles.

More link between worlds.

A couple of surprises.
 
The timing is right for a big one, but taking the PR at its word it will probably be about the end of year lineup, with a focus on the new bundles for Japan.

I would think there would be a bigger one before the end of the year focusing on 2014.

Knowing Sega, if they make a Skies of Arcadia 2, watch it be for phones.

I would be down for a surprise. Regurgitating things already known is boring, so I don't want to see that tomorrow. If they're going to show games in development, please don't show the Yoshi games. I don't want to get upset.

I'm hoping for some cool virtual console news (read: any virtual console news...)

I'm curious to see how prominently they feature 3rd party games. Batman, Assassins Creed, and Skylanders are all out this month. Now would be the time to push them if you want them to sell at all on the wii u.

Half-life 3 WiiU exclusive.
 
They need to focus on this holiday's lineup, not 2014's, and cultivate and maintain conusmer interest in their brand in light of the PS4 and XB1's upcoming launch this fall.

2014 reveals can wait until the close of 2013.
 
Weird that none of the Nintendo Twitters have announced it yet. Normally it's always when we first learn about them.

What's the original source?
 
Looking forward to this as always. People will get over hyped and come crashing down regardless of how many times they're warned. Only Nintendo Directs seem capable of doing this to people time and time again. You'd think they'd learn but nope. :)

I'm expecting the following though.

- Super Mario 3D World (more info on features and possible levels)
- Link Between Worlds (more footage and possible a new trailer)
- Pokemon X & Y but I think they've done enough on that already. So maybe just a new trailer and talk about the new 3DS XL colors.
- Trailer about indie games on the Wii U/3DS eShops. There are suppose to be a lot coming out between now and the end of the year.

Hoping for more information on the Wii U versions of Assassin's Creed 4 and Watch_Dogs but doubt we'll get anyway. Maybe a quick sizzle trailer but no confirmation regarding if that really is Wii U footage or just a generic trailer they got form Ubisoft. More information on upcoming games for 2014 would be nice as well. Not expecting a lot regarding third parties though.

Another trailer for X will be nice. That's more most look forward to game coming from Nintendo.
 
Calling it now.

A direct grovelling apology for the lack of a proper accounts system and the announcement of a fully unified system that is bullet proof including features such as downloading our games to a new console without having to call nintendo and 2 step auth.

Yup, no way to be disappointed if you expect the Nintendo Direct to be what it's supposed to be : a presentation about upcoming games, not some mass-production of Mega Tons with a new Mario, Zelda, DK, Pokémon, Metroid game announced every 2 months.

They now tweet about it exactly 24h before the actual event, so in 10mn or so.
 
I just wanna know when this damn update is, and it'd be awesome if they put in unified accounts and such.
I'll also take getting an announcement of something I don't know I want yet.

Also, I wouldn't be surprised to see the reveal for the next Shinen game.
A sizzle reel of all the upcoming indie game would be cool too.

It's taking so long BECAUSE it's been out in Japan. Too many people on the servers at the same time, they almost went down. They are still trying to prepare them for the worldwide release I think.
 
Meh. These directs are losing their appeal to me. What, are we going to see footage of the E3 games again? I'm tired of seeing Bayonetta 2, Pokemon, WWHD, SM3DW, DKCTF and third party game footage we know are coming. Unless it's about what the Wii U update is going to do or new games being announced its pointless. It's just a recap that could easily be done in a press release.

Some gameplay footage of X might be worth it though, or a new Zelda :p
