i dont get what they were thinking of with the end game. by the time CT is out most people will have 2-3 pieces of ilvl 90 from myth tomes. a lot more will have turn 4 cleared and maybe turn 5 if it ever proves possible. so ct ends up as an alt place and coil ends up as a place where you can get gear the same level as you can get outside of it and wont be updated for another 3 months.

I kind of hope they add more contents to those lower level areas and the overworld, add in level sync so I can go around doing things with people that are leveling lower level jobs, instead of just fates.

Yeah, an any-time level sync would be nice. I have a buddy I want to help, but I'm limited to fates and dungeons.

I'm actually not interested in end-game. I find more enjoyment playing this game casually. I'm still kind of burned from going all out in FF11 a few months ago.

Anyways, the social aspect is not an issue I have, and I do play with a friend.
You can still play casually in an FC, though.

You can do that right now

Just do dungeons, grab as much gear as you can for different sets you like that come from the drops

Still be high level yet play with low level players

I do it from time to time

Hell I still do Ifrits and be Shield Bash (Stun Duty) whore, just so people can get the win + item

It really makes no sense at all. There is also no casual end game, nothing for non-raiding types to do really. No factions to grind, no dailys, no progession other than tome farming.

There is no reason to put out anything higher in that time-frame. We are more hardcore than the vast majority of players on this game.

CT will allow the more casual players to catch up pretty easy. That way there are more players interested in consuming 2.2 or 2.3.

If an MMO catered to just the hardcore, they would lose a huge amount of subscribers because the casual people would see that gap widening at an increasing rate. The best thing to do is to shrink that gap.

Man, this community. We're doing The Wanderer's Palace and wiping on the slime boss. Two wipes later, all I say is "Please focus down the adds ASAP, don't worry about kiting them until they fixate on someone. I'll heal you." I say this because the Dragoon is running around in circles trying to kite the adds before the boss fixates on anyone, leading to the fixated person being heavy'd.

He flips. He goes off about how I'm too bossy and I'm the reason this community is so toxic, how I'm a bad person and all, and leaves party.

Ok. :lol

I do that now too for dungeons, but some of my friends will eventually get bored of running the same ones over and over, so I'd like things to do in other areas that's not leves or anything, though I have no idea what they can add.

Perhaps some kind of group quests would be nice

Yay, I finally unlocked Summoner last night after a couple of weeks of just mining, harvesting, and crafting!

But booo to not being able to use protect anymore. ._.

I still haven't made it into that dungeon and I'm doing coil, haha.
They kind of overlooked creating a need for that dungeon IMO.

Yea, not being able to show your face kind of suck, I wish they'd update that.

I thought the armor looks kind of cool, if you remove the dye.

You can be as bad ass as me.

That does indeed look slick... I never thought of removing a dye. Getting this armor in pinkish purple made me hunt down the dye quest once and for all.

What I ended up doing when those sets were too relevant to skip was having a standard adventurer set to hot-bar, and then a SRS BUSINESS, GOODBYE FACE set to another icon to switch between. They should put a Sentai Transformation emote in there to macro between class changes for added effect :P

Yah, I may do the same... maintain multiple armor sets. I want to see my face during the main story scenes.

I skipped it too until an FC-mate decided he wanted to take me there. I don't like it at all.

Never bothered with Halitali. I could have skipped Wanderer's too, but went in once just to see it. Pretty sure this is common with a lot of legacy players especially.

Did you not level your GC then?
Or was it already leveled for you due to legacy?

It wasn't leveld for me. Some dungeons you have to do to finish your hunt logs, which I like that SE did that. Would have missed some dungeons that I never heard about until I had to go in for my hunt log lol

I'm already seeing many non "hard core" (and I wouldn't label myself as this either) players gearing up to start their coil runs. CT is a gap that square created themselves and honestly doesn't seem like a large one at all considering how doable coil is with the current gear. It's great that they want to help players with CT, but that doesn't mean they have to leave others to sit and twiddle their thumbs for another 4 or 5 months. Not to mention the other end game content that's lacking that was brought up earlier.

Does anyone else play on PC using a controller? I've been using an Xbox 360 controller the entire time based on the fact that I always preferred playing FFXI with a controller. I'm starting to wonder if using a controller is a handicap over keyboard and mouse in endgame situations..

So yeah. I've run my PC with 3-4 virus/malware finding software and haven't found anything of substance except a couple of trackers.

Sigh. Who knows how long SE are going to take to get back to me. Am I the only one who's been hacked or wrongly banned?

Yes and loving it, but couldn't talk about the endgame. But I'm at a point now where I'm 100% comfortable with the controller and am totally lost when trying to use mouse/kb... so it all comes down to what you are used to playing with.

Is 16 skill slots not enough for end-game or something? I usually keep non-critical stuff on a different key set like mounts and such. I have one key set for solo play which has commands to summon mount and control my Chocobo, and one key set for tanking in groups.

I play WHM and I only use a controller. The only content I haven't completed yet is Coil. I don't feel handicapped at all.

As for slots, you can quickly switch between bars with R1 or switch to a specific bar with a shoulder button plus a face button. It's quick and easy.

As much as I like the GAF FC, it's kinda unfortunate that there are so many people at the endgame already (or at the least, the people at other parts of the game never really talk in the FC chat). I say this just because I'm finding that more and more people are rage-quitting these later dungeons. I could barely even run Stone Vigil for a good bow because someone somewhere would always quit out after wiping once or twice on a boss AOE. And DPS queues for Darkhold and Aurum Vale are so terrible in duty finder. I'm honestly tempted to just Fate grind to 50 and get the story out of the way, because apparently endgame is where all the action is these days.

Playing this... I realize I apparently don't like MMOs.

lol.

oh well.

I did each dungeon at least once just to see it.

Wanderer's Palace wasn't bad. Needed for Relic precursors. Plus, it's the only place to see tonberries in game. :<

What's your character name? If you need a healer for any of that, let me know (Tiv Einsfell).

Ahh, I'm playing BLM and just finished Ifrit HM for the Relic Reborn quest. The one thing that made me think maybe I'm handicapping myself with the controller is using Limit Break for Meteor as I have to aim the AoE circle with the controller, just seems like something that would be significantly easier with a mouse. Maybe I just need a bit of practice aiming AoE spells with the controller and I'll be good to go because I certainly prefer using it.

You can get an ilevel 55 weapon better than the GC weapons off of the last boss. It's helpful if you can't get past AK due to low DPS (and can't unlock the GC weapons) and Ifrit Hard Mode hasn't dropped a weapon for you.

Used a controller for every bit of content as most classes save for healing regularly.
Works fine. Can heal on it fine as well, but the job isn't my cup of tea.

I hit 50 today and noticed I was wearing a level 9 ring still...

Bought a few level 48-50 pieces to fill in some gaps.

does anyone know japan's prime time for this game along with how to que for a japan group? i heard that they always make it to the last phase for titan hm and have over 4k of hp....

you referring to that part of the quest right if that's the case I'll wait.

Once you learn Ifrit, it is fairly easy. You probably won't get your Ifrit weapon on your first attempt so it shouldn't be out of the question to do it multiple times. If you see it being formed in your FC I wouldn't turn away.

i play monk and have finished everything up until coil, i keep my mouse handy mainly at vendors and social things (copy paste names) but there than that everything works just fine

ps: holding down the RT for 10 hours a time hurts a lil :(

Yeah. And in order to run Titan later, you're gonna need your Ifrit weapon at minimum.

I imagine that unless you're on Japanese server you won't be able to find any Japanese players.
It's amazing - I haven't seen anyone speaking Japanese since my first 5 minutes of the game. Someone sent me a tell in Japanese (I assume because my character has a Japanese name?), and that was it. It's weird, coming off of FFXI where I see it every day. I know it's an NA server, but I expected at least a few players to stick around.

Well, the DF consists of a group of servers and it's not 2 NA ones and 1 JP ones, so if you're on a NA one you'll be paired with others on NA ones. So yeah, definitely won't be running into Japanese players frequently, a few Europeans though.

I'd imagine most JP players would want to save themselves that headache, especially after the behavior of players the first month.

Man sorta glad the story is almost over, between the dungeons increasing in difficulty, plus the last two primal fights, I almost feel at times like rerolling as anything but a healer. Stone Vigil and Garuda stressed me out to no ends. Even though a friend said I was doing fine...WHM is becoming way too stressful

On another note
I thought it was awesome how Gaius' Ultimate Weapon looked just like the same bosses in FF VIII. Though it seems his Weapon is on the level of Omega and not the wimpy Ultimate that died a quick death

I may also join the GAF guild, I'm tired of having everyone and their mom try to recruit me into their random FC. I guess standing around as a WHM means instant invite, lol
