Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn |OT2| Use a security token. Seriously.

Got to 16 last night. Can't believe how much I'm enjoying this game. I really like the way the zones don't feel like they're artificially passing you along. You know, like how in WoW it's like "Oh, you're 20 now? Go to Dustwallow Marsh."

Also, finally starting to get armour that I think looks pretty cool.

If it keeps on giving, and given the upgrade to the PS4 version, I'll probably skip The Elder Scrolls Online and stick with this. Not bad for a drunken 2am purchase. :P[/QUOTE]

Those are usually the best purchases ;)

I havent seen an actual FFXIV GM yet. Used to see the judges all over XI...so i'd hope to see some show up here and smack down actual gilsellers...or even just show their presence.

I don't get why they don't ban the spammers in-game. I see the same ones for days.

-edit-

There is a one time password thing for iOS, right? Is there one for Android?

My blacklist is full of about 50+ gil spammers, and only a couple of them now say "(deleted)"

There's a security token for iOS which I've been thinking about switching over to instead of the keychain token

I was wondering about that, why aren't there GMs 'on the ground' monitoring the situation? Surely it's easy enough to have one employee parked in a city banning the gil sellers shouting and also combing over the players and banning the ones with names like Fdfsgsf Sdfsgs.

Out of the 20 or so I've blacklisted, only 1 has been (Deleted). SE probably just didn't hire enough or contract enough people to manage support.

After FATE grinding my lancer to LV 34 for 3 straight days I feel so sick of it now. It is boring as hell. Now I switch back to my bard and level my character through quests, hunting log, levequests, dungeons etc. It's much more enjoyable than mindlessly farming FATE over and over.

I have not leveled through FATEs at all. In fact, I need to do more FATEs so I can get some GC stuff. I don't even understand why people do FATE leveling aside from the speed. It's mind-numbing as far as I'm concerned.

The majority of modern online games have separate tools for GMs that allow them to login to the games servers without actually using a character. This is how customer service chat reps usually communicate with players in game, via a tool that just has them logged into the games chat server.

So no awesome characters wearing GM armor popping out of nothing to assist players? Well, that kind of sucks but I guess helps to avoid much in the way of a distraction. Still, one of my most memorable experiences in FFXI when a GM came in to sort out a situation of botting in sky.

That's the thing though, they should probably include the in-game chat in their tools. Because it's real easy to spot who's been hacked or who's a gil seller in-game :/ Which is why I think it's a manpower problem rather than a tech problem.

I think that is the only reason + loads of GC seals. What I don't understand though, many people FATE grind to LV 50 so quickly and then complain that there was nothing to do late in the game. WTF? Aren't you supposed to spend times exploring the world instead of grinding for lv?

Once you've exhausted the quests, there's pretty much no other way to do it. You can dungeon grind, but the queue times for DD classes are terrible, the dungeons are too long for the amount of XP they give, and like most MMOs, you can't be in a group while waiting for your queue so you can't even make good use of the downtime.

Crafting, and gathering isn't good use?

Queue pops when I'm on step 2 of crafting.. crap, do my best to finish it since I don't want to lose the mats, around step 10 I get booted from the queue because I didn't respond.

Yea it's not the best system, we're all hoping it will continue to evolve and change. So in the mean time don't use your best materials on crafting when you're worried you might get a dungeon to pop.

Man, I just noticed I'll need 900 Mythology for Relic +1. Man, fuck this.

Can't see myself doing another month of AK/CM runs to have some decent SCH gears. I swear, even farming Sky Gods was better than this.

2.1 desperately needs a dungeon that drops pieces of DL or alternatives to it.

Do /wait macros still work? I had a macro to cast Swiftcast and Raise but not sure what's wrong with it. Anyone know what's wrong with it?

/macroicon "Swiftcast"
/ac "Swiftcast" <me>
/wait 2
/em is Raising <t>
/ac "Raise" <t>

For most jobs it's better to work on AF+1 rather than upgrading to relic+1 right away. They're a pretty huge upgrade compared in many cases.

I don't really like their system either. It felt much better in WoW when they had the same badges of justice/valor system except the badges would typically just be used to supplement the existing drops - you'd use tokens for slots you happened to be unlucky when it came to boss drops, rather than tokens being the only thing you really go for.

Think that is because they delayed crystal tower. I'm sure it was meant to be the ilvl 70-80 bridge leading into Bahamut but got delayed to the first major patch. Likely (should at least) have item drops in that and if so would have made end game so much more bearable, for now we got to wait till November for what was originally planned to be launch :( (Think the only thing in 2.1 that was scheduled for 2.1 is Housing, Barbershop and moggle mog fight, PvP and Crystal Tower were originally going to arrive at launch but got delayed).

6 tried I finally got my Ifrit weapon. Now the only other time I'll do it is for my Relic weapon. FYI I'm not doing the other two until I get to that part on my Relic quest cause I don't want to do those two twice unless I'm doing another job

For some dps classes every 1 extra weapon damage can be worth around 10 of their primary stat.

The way damage works out, for a number of the DD classes, the WD multiplies by the primary stat. It goes two ways, the higher the primary, the higher the WD. It works out in funky ways where an armor piece can technically outdo the weapon right away, but honestly it's all moot when you'll need the set eventually and they both compliment eachother as the primaries go up.

I honestly don't mind getting the weapon since I've seen no weapons drop personally in BC. I wouldn't set my sights around building Allagan gear from the getgo.

Now that I've finally completed the game, my goal is to:

1) Obtain Ifrit HM weapon
2) Run CM until I get a decent amount of Tomes of Philosophy to get 2-3 armor upgrades
3) Run AK to earn Tomes of Philosophy/Mythology
4) Obtain full set of Darklight gear
5) Complete Relic Reborn quest up to Garuda HM
5) Run Titan HM
6) Grind out Tomes of Philosophy until I get enough for my Relic weapon

Beyond that, we shall see!

Does anyone else play on PC using a controller? I've been using an Xbox 360 controller the entire time based on the fact that I always preferred playing FFXI with a controller. I'm starting to wonder if using a controller is a handicap over keyboard and mouse in endgame situations..

I've healed up to turn 4 in B.Coil with a controller on PC comfortably. I don't think there's anything to worry about until 24man raiding.

So I'm getting some conflicting information.

This week, I will have 900 myths. As a WHM, should I get the Relic+1 (for more healing output) or AF2 body (for more survivability)? I'm so torn.

What body do you currently have? I opted to grab my Cleric's Body + Helm over Relic +1. The increase in stats over the DL body/helm combo seemed pretty big. That... and I wanted to look like a real WHM again lol.

Basically, the difference in stats going from original Thyrus to Thyrus +1 is VIT: 5, MND: 4, DET: 3, SPD: 3, M.DMG: 3,
vs.
The stat difference going from Darklight Body/Helm combo to Cleric Body/Helm combo: VIT: 15, MND: 14, and PIE: 23. Only plus side to DL I guess is it has determination instead of spell speed, but even then, determination itself is pretty 'meh' for us.

Of course you can always throw your prayers up in the air and hope for Allaghan pieces to drop to fill those slots, but I wanted to take a more reliable approach.

Well, AF2 body is probably better since you can combine it with a head of your choice. (Maybe some Vanya hat with some materia)

On other hand,AF2 doesn't shine.

i did most of my leveling through quests/logs/exploring exp until i was near 40 or so, and i still hit 50 fairly quickly (took a week and a halfish from early access). i would exhaust all the quests i could find, then do fates to finish off the level.

but now i'm doing my second dow job and it's all through fates. pretty boring. i hate coerthas lol. running to fates is tedious on that map and there's too many levels to be gained here. i almost miss xi's partying up and shooting the shit with the group for a couple hours at camp. i've tried chatting up some people in fate parties but i don't get talkative people that often. maybe i'm unlucky.

Yeah one of the things I miss about XI is the sense of community you got from partying. If you leveled up at a consistent pace you frequently ran into the same folks and made friendships through partying. XIV being so solo and spam friendly there isn't as much of a sense of togetherness. If you don't have friends from the jump or a community to join (such as GAF) you'll be hard pressed to find folks.

Fellow Bards out there. Does our out of control enmity get any better? I'm level 44 now, but the highest dungeon I've done is Brayflox or Sunken Temple. I noticed on the last fight of Brayflox I was close to pulling off the tank almost the entire fight. I only use my cooldowns with Quelling Strikes for the most part. I don't know if its just bad tanks that can't move out of his breath and attack him at the same time or its a seriously problem with the class/job. I'm not trying to be one of those people that blames the tanks or healers for everything, I'm not. I have a level 34 PLD. While that may not be that high I've done my fair share of dungeons and I know how much work is involved with keeping threat. That being said I've never had someone pull a single target boss off me.

Anyways this Brayflox fight, I had to even stop auto attacking at one point for a while. Maybe I'm paying too much attention to the enmity meter. I just know once you go past yellow you dont have much time before they start attacking you. So once I see dark yellow I tend to hold off.

Archer/Bard is super fun to play. But honestly sometimes in dungeons it gets downright boring with how badly you need to hold off on your dps. I guess long story short, I'm wondering if it gets better at 50?

So, just how good are the items you can buy with the Behemoth horns? The lance doesn't seem better than my 50 GC one. Am I missing something?

Vanity item, though I imagine they will get some use when the vanity armor/weapon slots are introduced in a couple patches from now. Having said that there is no vanity slot fix for the dark light armor since it would need to be armor that also covers head which means the same style of stuff XD.

I look forward to the day I can wear AF gear all game round and still be the top player!

At the darklight gear level I was referring to. As in the amount of that primary stat a player would have when geared with darklight gear and all there bonus points put in that stat the value of 1 weapon damage is a lot higher then the value of more of that primary stat. Somewhere around 6-10 for the classes I've looked into.

For allagan stuff, the weapons supposedly drop from turn 5, while you can get the chest from Turn 1. It is something to think about.

Does anyone else have 2x 6970 CFX'd? I tried custom making a profile and using the "fear.exe" one and it doesn't seem like it's even kicking in. Neither does "1x1" setting. I get the same performance whether I set to fullscreen 1920x1080 or windowed 1920x1080. I set everything to max and it just hovers around 28~30fps with nothing really going on (Mor Dhona). It jumps around between 21~30 when I run around and jump in circles.

Anyone else having an issue getting CFX to work? I removed the 13.4 drivers. Ran free version of Driver Fusion to remove old drivers. Installed 13.9 drivers and still no dice. Any help would be appreciated.

TIA!

For some dps classes every 1 extra weapon damage can be worth around 10 of their primary stat.

Can't discount the Vit boost from armor too though, especially for squishier cloth-wearing classes.

I opted to get Summoner Robes first over Relic +1, and went from 3200 base HP to over 3400. I mainly got it first for the looks though :P Will be saving up for Relic +1 next.

So people who played ffxi, how is squares track record for balancing or fixing classes? I'm trying to decide if I should continue leveling up warrior or try paladin or a dps class.

Well Odin just popped while I was mining in East Shroud

Git into a random party @90%, still got bronze

I get it the FATE is suppose to be elusive for its drops, but come the fuck on, from 90% till it's death, we only grabbed Bronze 2 BLM, 2 PLD, 1 BRD, 2 WHM

I get the more damage inflicted like 30% of it's value is impossible with so many whacking away at him
Doesn't help if you move an inch, he disappears
Luckily I locked-on to him pretty early, and never stopped nuking, yet reward was shit as usual

Hopefully the patch fixes some glaring issues, cause most that shouted were more like I don't see him rather than location/invite spam @ the 70% mark

Smart player whoever pulled Odin to that double branch area and stuffing him in there, cause if he was moving around, it would have been a pure clusterfuck just to target him
Horrible place for him to spawn

The problem I had when facing Odin last time was that my Astral/Umbral stacks weren't working correctly and neither were my proc's. Firestarter/Thundercloud would come up, yet wouldn't be enabled, and casting Fire III didn't grant me any stacks of Astral Fire. The same goes for Blizzard III/Umbral Ice. It makes my rotation as a BLM pretty damn impossible. I had to basically resort to Fire I --> Transpose --> Blizzard I --> Transpose --> Fire I --> Repeat

I won't even bother joining groups until those things are fixed. It's more of a nuisance than anything else.
