New Nintendo Direct Tomorrow [WiiU/3DS, games releasing later this year]

I just want Summer update news.

That's all I want for the console is a performance boost in the menus. I genuinely like everything else about it.

This has got to be about only the games coming out before end of year for the holiday push, not an announcement of new games that we haven't already heard about.

Nintendo has always announced games around this time, they've had directs like this before just some months ago and announced sonic.

What I expect and want from this Direct. Bolded are what I expect to see:

Trailers and final dates from here on to the holidays. DK, Mario, Zelda, WiiSports/Party/Fit and Mario Party
Mario Golf 3DS comes in January.
Bravely Default published by Nintendo in US and Europe.
:30 2DS ad we will be seeing soon on TV
Pokemon X/Y News, tiny unveiling of some part of the game that'll make Pokemon fans squeal.
VC for GB/GBA and N64 deets. 30th Anniversary type deal for 6 games once a month for a dollar each.
3rd party trailer that includes indies.
Update announcement:
id.nintendo.net is now where you can sign in and buy Wii U content from your PC or phone.
Digital books now something Nintendo is getting into. Hyrule Historia and Earthbound Players guide to be first two books to go on sale. Free for the first month. $9.99 afterward. Buy books via eshop or new browser-based eshop. Books based on Javascript, practically anyone can publish now. New eshop section for books and/or completely new eshop for books. Drawback: Every book is its own unique app.

...Or Nintendo introduces Kindle/GooglePlay app coming soon.

MIiverse for 3DS delayed for Winter of 2013 "Please understand" "And thank you for being there til the end, which comes soon"

I wish Nintendo could work on a way for Netflix/Hulu/Amazon to work on the TV while being able to access whatever apps are shown when you press the home button. Also, Wii U Chat NEEDS to be one of those kinds of apps.

That book thing would be awesome. I would buy a lot on it!

But if you think about it, Nintendo probably realizes that a large majority of people are likely learning about those games via gaming publications and such, there's really no need to waste time talking about those games in detail when their are other avenues that provide a solid stream of info.

People are learning about Nintendo games from those same sources too. Nintendo is not going to have any trouble selling Mario and Donkey Kong this year (well, maybe DK if it is indeed delayed). What they're having trouble with is moving third party games on their hardware. Even in all of the Wii U threads on GAF, Rayman is the only third party game that is brought up on a regular basis.

This is the second Christmas for the Wii U. If these games don't do well this year, expect even less support next year. People complain about the third party situation on Nintendo hardware, but rarely buy the games when they're available. And it doesn't help at all if Nintendo doesn't do anything to push the few games they've got coming.

"Please note that the Nintendo #eShop will be undergoing maintenance this afternoon from 1 – 5 PM PT."

Hyyyyyypeeee

I really hope they start doing preorders on the eshop. They should let you buy a game early, and then when it releases, your wii u should start up at midnight and start downloading it.

lol i tried

The church of hype. I like it.

For fuck's sake, I hope they spend some time focusing on Wii U third party games. I want to see Batman, Watch Dogs, and Assassin's Creed running on the Wii U in clips longer than 5 seconds. It would also be a good way to remind people that these games will be available for the Wii U.

Spoiler: they look like the ps360 versions just watch those vids

I expect to see upcoming 2013 games and nothing more. Really hoping they don't talk about Pokemon or at least keep it to a minimum.

I'm dying for more Mario 3D World info and footage.

Meh, I have no expectations for this tbh. Nintendo have just let me down so much for a while now. I should be hoping for news of unifed accounts/hopefully achievements, but it seems Nintendo have their priorities reversed... So yeah, they have a lot to make it up to me as far as I'm concerned and probably wont bother with future consoles until they can show they're in the 21st century. I just cant/wont take their BS anymore, theres no reason why a company as themselves should be lacking in online functionality, which if they werent I'd expect something in exchange... maybe games perhaps, but now, let down in every area as far I'm concerned.

I'll probably watch the NDirect anyway, but no expectations anyway (Note to Nintendo, no expectations doesnt mean you dont need to do much to impress me, take it that I dont think highly of you atm...)

Okay so...

-"summer" update info
-Mario 3D World footage
-Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze footage
-Zelda: LBW footage
-Mario Party footage
-WiiU Party footage
-WiiFit U info
-WiiSports Club talk (release date?)
-final Pokemon updates
-maybe some 3DS Miiverse talk?
-roundup of third party release dates

Also, hopefully we get some footage of multiplatform games. I want to see what AC4/WD/Batman all look like on WiiU

The January Nintendo Direct is where the Hype is...

This one will be just be showcasing their holiday lineup + explaining system update + maybe VC additions.

I AM HYPE, have no idea what you people are talking about.

Let's see who laughs last when they announce Shenmue 3 for the Wii U is coming out this holidays.

I don't think Nintendo ever confirmed a date on the 3DS miiverse/firmware update and left a very vague "by the end of the year" announcement for Miiverse.

Like which ones?

Ones where they announced;

Wind Waker HD
Zelda: A Link Between Worlds
Simultaneous release dates for eShop games (i.e. it will be released at the end of this presentation)
Various localisation info (MH3U, Ace Attorney 5, Ace Attorney x Layton, Bravely Default)
First gameplay footage for Pokemon X & Y

I don't know what level of announcement people expect outside of these things. New games? Localisations? New content for announced games? Outside of the "Mother 4! Metroid Dread!" crowd (which we've all been party to at some point or another), it's good, solid news and updates. Nintendo Directs have consistently topped what Nintendo has chosen to reveal at their E3 pressers in the last two years, in my eyes.

Here are my predictions.

  • Pokemon X/Y Streetpass Details and a little more on Pokemon Amie.
  • Plot details for Super Mario 3D World.
  • Release windows for games like Shantae and the Pirate's Curse, Picross E3, and so forth.
  • Denpa Men 3 for the USA. (All of these predictions are for NOA.)
  • Plot details on The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds.
  • A little bit of focus on Wind Waker HD to remind people of the physical release. Also, that statue will make an appearance.
  • Final date or release for Flipnote 3D.
  • Hulu Plus for 3DS, multiple colors for folders.
  • A little on the Animal Crossing items and Pokemon give aways.
  • More Wii U Sports Club sports will be revealed. At least one of them will be from Wii Sports Resort. There may be about six to eight remastered Wii Sports.

I just want to see summer update details, and some footage of Q4's 3rd party games actually running on Wii U.

Spoiler: they look like the ps360 versions just watch those vids

What vids? Do we even have PS360 footage of ACIV, WD, or CoD: Ghosts?

2011: and then I saw the name "Wii U" and the gamepads design.
2012: and then I saw how fireworks look in Nintendoland
2013: and then I saw Wii Us big Mario game.

Three of the saddest moments I had in gaming.
And I have been owning consoles since the Atari 2600.

2013 was the biggest disappointment in the history of E3 for me. I'm done getting hyped for Nintendo events.

Pokemon Red & Blue HD announced on Wii U to commemorate Pokemon Origins anime and XY release
