Wii U Firmware Update is live everywhere. Everyone calm down.

The Homebrew channel seems to run, but it broke Devolution. When trying to launch a Gamecube game, I just get a black screen.
SNES emulator is fine. So it may just be some apps.

On the upside, it seems to be detecting aspect ratio, since my Homebrew channel is now showing in 4:3.

Edit: Maybe the Devolution problem is its weird security check. Don't feel like revalidating my discs atm.

At least Wii games look much better now

hmm, eShop has very minor aesthetic updates.

Miiverse has a neat little graphic with a world clock on the loading screen. seems unchanged otherwise

To the person who asked, messaging doesn't seem to be integrated in the friend list.

There's an option to see a list of players you've played with online though, is that new?

N64 games look pretty good on the gamepad. They also switch to 4:3 automatically, which I don't think Wii VC games did before(?)

OS seems faster
Cute animations of time zones from Japan to USA on Miiverse with Miis + faster
Mini-game ish before loading to the Eshop + faster
Browser seems faster and Youtube works!
Anything else you guys caught?

Sorry if this has been answered already, but now I could theoretically plug my old Wii AV cable into my Wii U and connect it to my receiver and finally get stereo sound instead of using my shitty TV speakers? If so, megaton!!!!!!!!!!!

First thing I wanted to try. So we don't need to reinstall the HBC?

EDIT: Misread thinking that was for Not64. Anyone tried that?

We still don't have enough information. That only logs on to miiverse.

Really? I haven't a Wii U yet, so I haven't a ID. However, the japanese changelog says about browse the Nintendo Network services(eshop?) on PC/smartphones

"Added settings Nintendo Network ID
It is now possible to set whether to use the services of Nintendo Network such as smart phones and personal computers, from devices other than the Nintendo game console."

Google translated.

Nope.

So if I output N64 games from the Wii to the Wii U gamepad, can I play them with off-TV on the gamepad with the gamepad's controls or do I need to use wii-motes with the gamepad?

I hope I made sense.

well my first wii u update since changing from shitty sky broadband (where I was lucky to get 2meg) to BT (19meg) and I was amazed at downloading the update in less than 15 mins (its been hours every time before), just annoyed that the install is taking longer than the download did, this update sounds amazeballs though, did anyone actually expect any of this stuff?

Interesting, I wonder if Wii VC games now output at the correct aspect ratio over HDMI?

Yes, they are probably going to make it available tomorrow after they explain it on the Direct.

You tell them! Yeah, they used the entire Super Mario Galaxy team to work on this firmware update for 6 months, how dare they! They could've at least made 2 games!

Lol, they have a separate team working on Wii U/3DS system firmwares.

It's sad that you actually had to explain that lol. It should be obvious.

I can't login for some reason, something about partners authorization or something.
This is what I get when I login:

You will no longer be able to use services that you remove authorization for.
If you wish to use them again, please re-authorize them to access your Basic Profile Information.

You have not authorized any third-party services.

I completely blanked on it before but i noticed that going to the settings doesn't make me mad anymore so Nintendo fixed the main problem I had with the Wii U's speed.

Can someone please check this?
