Wii U primed for NeoGAF takeover

Believe me. So long as Nintendo continue to make decisions of this kind and completely mis-allocate resources and misunderstand their main consumers - those that own a Wii U now - I will.

I happily give credit where credit is due, but Nintendo have yet to do much to earn any in the last year.

You tell them! Yeah, they used the entire Super Mario Galaxy team to work on this firmware update for 6 months, how dare they! They could've at least made 2 games!

Lol, they have a separate team working on Wii U/3DS system firmwares.

Why did you not use new image uploading?

I'm assuming that's only gonna work with game screenshots. I'm trying to post a W101 shot in here right not but I can't figure it out yet.

Spot pass will send out recommended Software and Demos, I wonder if that means some first party games Demos are coming?

That's dumb... So skyward sword and galaxy 1 and 2 still needs a wii-mote...

what the hell? you expect games that ONLY have wiimote support, and a game designated to be played WITH the wiimote in a really extensive way to all of a suddenly have gamepad support? games that have CC support sure but you expected that?!

Add the ability to output to the Wii U GamePad a picture of Wii-only software
I was able to be output to the Wii U GamePad the image of the Wii-only software. You can choose from "both the GamePad and TV" or "TV only" the output destination. (※ 1)

wtf YES!!!!

The biggest importance of this announcement is that, between this and WWHD, every official Zelda game is now enjoyable from the comfort of your bed.

That is right... Never thought of that (too used to using capture device for all his images)

Honestly the gamepad thing can be cool, if you go on a road trip you can now play Wii games without the tv. You'd probably want to be in the backseat but it's kind of neat to have. I don't really see much use of it other than mobile purposes.

Doesn't look like you can post screenshots directly to GAF... but uploading to imgur seems like it'd work. The upload progress bar isn't moving though. I guess any site that allows direct image uploading should work.

I realise that. From what people say there are no folders (Mine's still updating). Do you think Folders would have been a better allocation of resources than Wii games on the pad when you can't use the gamepad as a controller? I would have thought so. I bet there are lots of other examples too, like merge the Friendlist and MiiVerse friend system together so you can avoid that invite problem. Maybe iOS apps for MiiVerse? Anything apart from this utterly inane feature that's so incomplete that it's borderline worthless apart from the one or two people still wanting to play Wii games without the tele and have somewhere to prop the gamepad up to do so.

I can't figure out how to activate my PC to be used with Nintendo Network. i went to the user settings and changed it there but when i go to the site it says I haven't activated any third party devices. Anyone?

Miiverse and the eshop seem to load faster. The eshop has a weird roulette thing when starting up.

EDIT - Friend list seems to be a second or two faster.

Loading does seem improved. Not a ton, but noticeable.

With all the new stuff that came out for Wii U in the last few weeks and everything that's coming soon if you still have your system packed in a closet you should probably just consider selling it.

I'm guessing we'll learn more about the browser and smartphone thing in tomorrow's direct and that could potentially lead to interesting things.
