Well, all the resultant economic damage that the wage freezes would cause, plus unprocessed visas, various civil cases being suspended, national park and museum closures, problems for the CDC and FDA, suspensions for various nutrition assistance programs (although not SNAP), mortgage issues, most of NASA gets shut down, OSHA probably won't be inspecting anything...

Do you have a federal job?

If you answered yes, are you a congressman or a soldier? If so, you are fine.

Are you a non-essential federal employee? You've either been given some extra vacation days without pay or you have to show up for work without pay with the hopes you'll get it later on down the road.

If you are a regular private sector dude then you are fine. You still have to go to work tomorrow. You can still mail letters (people do that?) and you will still get your social security checks.

Have you ever not paid your credit card bill and you start getting phone calls from all hours of the day from a guy with a shifty Irish accent that suggests that you might want to pay your bill lest you not be able to take those long walks you like to take because, on account of your kneecaps being in fine working order, it would be a shame if you couldn't take a nice stroll every once in awhile or, you know, we could just jack up your interest rates.

In this case though it's kind of like everyone else in the country getting their knee caps broken because your rich uncle doesn't want to pay his credit card bill.
