Thank god Breaking Bad ended, its time for some real entertainment. Fox News and CNN personalities will win emmys next year for their stellar and hilarious performances.

Post Office is open, but they closed WIC and VA disability claims. Nice.

You know, at this point, I'd say taking care of veterans, pregnant women, and kids is more important that I dunno...The Patent and Trademark Office.

We take Gotham from the corrupt! The rich! The oppressors of generations who have kept you down with myths of opportunity, and we give it back to you... the people. Gotham is yours. None shall interfere. Do as you please. Start by storming Blackgate, and freeing the oppressed! Step forward those who would serve. For and army will be raised. The powerful will be ripped from their decadent nests, and cast out into the cold world that we know and endure. Courts will be convened. Spoils will be enjoyed. Blood will be shed. The police will survive, as they learn to serve true justice. This great city... it will endure. Gotham will survive!

Air traffic controllers are considered essential:

What's staying open and what's not.

Good cause I'll be stuck in San Fran.

I will have to give my mom a call tomorrow as she works for the IRS. Things are already tight for her and now this is just going to make things worse for her and everyone else.

USPS is self funded via postage. It's actually been screwed over a bunch lately by congress who raided the coffers and forced a bunch of shitty rules on it, because they hate the idea of a well run government institution.

In the end this is Boehner's fault. He's shown he is incompetent and a coward. I thought he was a rational actor, but he's proved me wrong. I can't even be bothered wasting my anger at the tea party.

I'm guessing nobody is really affected by this, with all the joking going on.

I'm essential at my job so I'll be at work tomorrow but I know several people who were told today that if the government shutdown they wouldn't be working. One guy just got back from vacation so his PTO is basically gone so he's going to be without pay until they pass a budget. So sad

Our government doesn't take their job seriously, why should we?

You can get them out of office, stop them from doing gerrymandering bullshit, etc. They're supposed to serve us and clearly don't. Congress was only in session for 126 days. They've attempted to repeal/defund ACA 41 times, a gross waste. They only worked ~1/3 of the year, living off their fat lobby checks. It's complete nonsense.
