Social security no; unemployment, yes if you're on extended unemployment, no if you're still on your first round of it (the first round/claim gets paid by your most recent employer).

USPS is self funded via postage. It's actually been screwed over a bunch lately by congress who raided the coffers and forced a bunch of shitty rules on it, because they hate the idea of a well run government institution.
If WWIII was declared I would feel happier seeing jokes and puns on NeoGAF. Light hearted behavior isn't inherently bad.
I'm guessing nobody is really affected by this, with all the joking going on.

I'm essential at my job so I'll be at work tomorrow but I know several people who were told today that if the government shutdown they wouldn't be working. One guy just got back from vacation so his PTO is basically gone so he's going to be without pay until they pass a budget. So sad

Nope, the mayor said fuck congress, and he'll only shut down if they arrest him.
They have two weeks worth of rainy day funding available
You can get them out of office, stop them from doing gerrymandering bullshit, etc. They're supposed to serve us and clearly don't. Congress was only in session for 126 days. They've attempted to repeal/defund ACA 41 times, a gross waste. They only worked ~1/3 of the year, living off their fat lobby checks. It's complete nonsense.
