Yeah, a Pally will solo a bit slow, but that's why people party up for fates.

i don't really have a problem soloing fates. just flash a few times and you get gold. the boss ones are hard though.

I could never figure out which chat to spam for parties though. maybe it will be better when party finder is implemented... but will there be any people left playing by then? :P

34 PLD now. The game is getting more fun now. It was kinda boring up to 25ish, but now the fights are getting more dynamic. I feel like I have the tools needed to deal with most situations, and I can mix up my skill rotations with Shield Swipe/Flash/Fracture.

Speaking of Shield Swipe, does it count as an interrupt? I've only been using my stun to interrupt red ground attacks.

Is there really any reason for a PLD to get the higher level cross-class skills? I'm running fracture/bloodbath/foresight and I really don't see any need to get Mercy Stroke or Stoneskin at all. I'm always playing the game with my gf (who plays a WHM) so there's no reason to get Stoneskin, and I use all three of my current cross-class skills too often to be willing to give up one for Mercy Stroke.

Is the Android security token app ok to use? It's got some pretty bad reviews in the play store.
I'm using it. As already mentioned, just make sure you save the emergency removal code somewhere safe in case you need to use it. The reviews say the android app sometimes dies, which locks people out of their accounts if they don't have the removal code on hand.

The app has worked perfectly for me so far, so no complaints over here. But I definitely have my removal code saved in case it goes south.

Examples? Jump isn't great but I'm struggling to think of areas where it's impossible to use and not get hit.

For instance, Dzemael Darkhold. The boss there will randomly start putting auras up on the field after he does his AoE moves. It's hard to even predict the AoEs themself (not the lasers, those are easy), and it's almost a bother to even try to get one in since I'll take damage. I consider myself to be somewhat competent, but I've had these issues with the lower AoE times of the later dungeons and the Chimera in North Thanalan.

I just look at other jobs that can get there stuff in for free whilst I'm up close and have to worry about my Jumps. Every second counts with damage, and I like to get in as much as possible.

Are you just making things up now?

Right. Well lets not forget that Jump only has the same potency as a combo'd Vorpal Thrust, so really unless you're using it in conjunction with Power Surge it's not really worth it. Better to just do a Full Thrust combo. Not only that but hey it's one of things we have to deal with when being a melee DPS.

Meh, I wouldn't bother with those cross class kills for pld, on other jobs its more important like blood for blood on monk for example.

The lustrate and stone skin is better, but remember the war is going to get hit harder, so I think it evens out, except the sch gets more threat from the larger heal.

Also, whm only use stone skin before bit hits or at start of the fight, so if that is the only + it seems small to the other advantages of pld. And again the extra null is counteracted because war takes a bigger hit.

I have never seen a war tank beat hard mode titan, I'm sure it has been done, it is simply harder, ie, unbalanced.

Right now WAR is built to be a star off-tank. PLD damage is increased substantially by the slashing debuff we provide and we mow down adds pretty well. Exceptions are fights like Chimera where the WAR can main tank and the PLD can stun.

What I do is I use Jumps in between combo cooldowns. So while I'm waiting for the next combo to be able to use, I get a Jump in real quick then continue the combo. Yeah, I don't really mind the dodging up close, I just think Jumping could use a few frames of invincibility since they want the animation to look good. Like, if they let you move after the Jump, that could be a solution, but that would interrupt the animation and I think they are adamant on keeping animations without them looking clunky. Since Jumps have long recasts, it makes sense to not be as risky to use.

It's not that great though since the animation and recovery rakes longer than the gcd. It's not free DPS like leg sweep is.

Any invincibility frames would make jump op. I'm pretty sure no classes have them.

45-50 is maybe the easiest range to find a FATE grinding party. Just go to Northern Thanalan and shout for a party or reply to a person asking for more members to their party. With Dark Devices FATE and a few others, you can easily get at least 150k exp an hour. Being a PLD is no excuse, since I was able to get PLD 44-47 through FATE grinding in this area.

I only have 4 things left in Rank 4 of my hunting log, but have no idea how to get there. Its called Coerthas Central Highlands.

How do I get there?

They claimed to have banned a number of accounts, yet when I logged on this morning, out of my 50 blacklisted people, only two were deleted.

The problem is a number of them can simply be hacked.
Granted I still have some "Ssdgsfsds Fdsdasdas" on my list but for many of them it looks like they should...

The main benefit of mercy stroke is only reliably possible when soloing; as long as DPS are doing their job, you shouldn't really have a chance to kill with it. As for stoneskin, someone else in the pt should be handling it already.

There are instances when a self stone skin are appropriate.
At this point I only keep Stoneskin, Fracture, Blood, Foresight in my regular rotation. I have some other skills, but these get 90% of the use. Stoneskin itself during lulls in battle where the enemy gives me a small window and the WHM/SCH won't be able to.

That"s a good point...but conjurer to 34...:(

Kinda tempted to use my Mythology for Bravura +1, but I think I'll use them on AF2 SCH Body, so I can also skip DL body for it.

I don't need relic +1 to start another relic quest, right?

So..... how good is Vanya for BLM? I really don't know how I feel about buying it (assuming it's good) as it just seems like a risky purchase and potentially a waste of gil.

Meh, I'm just gonna get DL gear. It's not like I play BLM much anyway.

And all at the cost of lots of innocent players getting their accounts suspended ;) Was just reading how the 72 hour suspension only "ticks down" during weekdays. Which is crazy.

STF and SE aren't known for playing nice when RMT is involved, so it doesn't surprise me in the slightest.

And yet they still failed to implement a functional spam filter or easy blacklisting

Company baffles me

I like the game a lot, but their customer service and account management stuff is awful

I believe they are implementing a right click to blacklist feature, but as seems to be the norm, its a 2.1 feature. I'm not a huge fan of pushing virtually every quality of life change to the upcoming major content patch, but I guess thats the road they have decided to travel.

How do I get there?

If Ul'Dah: (Balls of Steel method), most mobs from N. Thanalan till Coerthas will aggro the shit out of you 40-49 mobs
Centeral Thanalan > North Thanalan > Mor Dhona > Coerthas (Southwest area, by the Troll/Mudpuppy/Wolfs 45+ area)

If Gridania:
Central Shroud (if you don't have access to the door and haven't finished a quest, if you have then straight to North) > North Shroud > Coerthas (Southeast area, by Wolf Pups/Gobbues/Crocs 35+ area)

Limsa Lominsa: NONE!, it's an island to itself, need to ferry your ass to Ul'Dah and start your journey or airship it to Gridania

So are there any guilds on Exodus that recruiting? I joined a generic huge guild but I'm tired of their obnoxious and homophobic/racist/childish chatter. And they're just wanna be elitists.

Just wanna find a chill group of friends to enjoy content with.

When is 2.1 expected to come out? I think it's ridiculous that something as simple as right click to blacklist was over looked....

It seems I've been using Jumps correctly despite that delay.

Jumps are off-GCD abilities, meaning they can be used anytime you wish to smash the button. While the primary utility of these abilities is underwhelming, as mentioned by EasyModeX above they do increase your dps (including Jump without PS). That is because right after you have used one of your main abilities, while you wait for the 2.4-5s GCD, you can use Jumps to fill these empty gaps with added damage. Even taking the added animation time into account, which does overrun your GCD timer slightly, Jumps are a dps increase.

So out of curiosity I bought a lowbie piece of equipment with some cracked materia on it. I thought I could trade it to the calamity salvager, but he says nothing about this item. Is it just useless?

?

duty finder can't get me a fate party.

If you can't figure out how to get a FATE party, I dunno what to tell ya. You are probably right, this isn't the game for you.

As much spam as there is for people looking for members for FATES, or looking for groups, it's ridiculously easy to send a tell to someone who is looking for more or, barring that, to type a few chat commands til you match the color (and therefore the channel) everyone else is using.

It's /shout, by the way. It's always /shout.

Yeah, I never did a single FATE party before, but when I went to North Thanalan I simply did one shout "DRG LF Fate Party" and I got invited and was in that party for 4-5 hours. Went from 46 with an empty exp bar to 49.

I also learned people are sexually attracted to Dan's Green voice of Atem from Yu-Gi-Oh! in that party.

for the 20min i was on, only people shouting were for dungeons :(

Just for the record, which maps should i be trolling about for FATEs at 43?

I've been looking about, but dragonhead still seems like the best frequency.

Just go to North Thanalan. Dark Devices gives great exp. Also, I never did Page 2 of my Hunting Log, and me beating 2-4 leveled me up from 44 to 45. So if you haven't done your hunting log, you should work on it.

-edit-

Also. You shout yourself and someone invites you, the party leaders don't shout for fate parties usually. Dragonhead is still good exp.

North Thanalan is where most folks go at 43. It's very close together and fast, and like the person above said it has Dark Devices which is a ton of EXP in the right group.

Not sure what I was doing wrong, but I did Dark Devices for the first time a few nights ago and barely got any XP from killing the mobs that kept spawning, and then only 9 or 10k when the fate actually ended.

This is for you Tramain

Failed low rank Titan 3 times because my internet lagged as hell...felt so bad I caused others to fail the mission :(

Also what's up with OT title change? I thought everybody is required to have one-time password thing, no? When I made an account I didn't even have a choice to not use a token.

Were you in a party? The EXP comes from all the mobs that you kill in a large chain, and it helps if you're in a party big time.
