Ugh. Balmung is so laggy. We literally couldn't progress in Coil because our healer was lagging so hard he couldn't do anything. So demotivating.

Apparently there's all sorts of issues tonight. Shouts and tells aren't working, instances are lagged. I was gonna run a dungeon but decided not to bother.

So, how do you rank up for your grand company? I have over 8k seals, but nothing has unlocked since getting the company. Do fates not level it? Also, when can I outfit my chocobo in different armors?

You might need to complete your hunting log for the GC, I remember they require you to go into optional dungeons to complete them (Halatali, Dzemael...probably something else). Remember to turn in whatever seals you have if it will let you, don't worry...you'll always have a surplus.

You have to go to the grand company and talk to a person to use seals to level your rank up. You can also buy chocobo barding from the GC vendor.

You ask to be promoted and you trade them seals. Certain ranks requiring things to be met (clearing GC hunting log, clearing certain dungeons, beating the story).

Dude standing right next to the quartermaster. Conversation option to be promoted.

Mkay thanks. I guess since none of them have a ! I didn't talk to them. Though there is someone in the room with a red !, but for like a 40 something quest. I'm only level 33.

Yeah, leveling up isn't a quest which is why the exclamation points aren't there. There should be the quartermaster and then two people next two them. You have to ask the one about getting a promotion and the person next to them is a vendor in which you can use company seals to buy barding, equipment and items from.

Loving goofing off in high level areas

You learn so much from the Beastmen Elders, especially that they really do think Ifrit is "Burnt Beef Jerky", Who Knew?:

They come in Jumbo or Super Size too?... Jeez:

So wanted to fight it, only 1 MNK there, 2 hits later, he ran off, that MNK doesn't deserve his claws!

I hit 30 on my weaver today. Managed to get past the velveteen part of the crafting log using leves. I actually managed to farm around 110 diremite webs since nobody was doing it when I went to North Shroud but still, I rather just use them when needed.

I can make linen from flax now but I need to level up my BTN to gather it... I left it at 22 and got to 24 today. Holycrapitssoslow. I even used an EXP manual from my GC and food to speed things up but the minute the effect ended I went to an inn and logged off x_x

A lot of 90k errors for many people in my FC last night before the maint. on Balmung. There was a bit of lag when I logged in earlier today, but it wasn't as bad as last night.

Finally got culinarian and alchemist to 15. Now I just need leatherworker and carpenter 15 before I can finally get down to business with weaver. (._. )

No. The real game changer is right here:

Yes, Minwu is pleased.

I see what you guys were talking about with lag. We just went through Brayflox with 1 minute lag spikes here and there. Would've demolished the place too.

"Also, the vote timing is done after the completion of instanced dungeon or primal battles, you will be able to vote for any player, at the same time you have the option to not vote for anyone at all. At the same time, it’s made so no one will know who voted for who."

Dark/Demon's Souls system, nice!

So I have a question for ps3 or pad players. How do you have your cross hotbars for black mages. I just wonder how I should have mines set up cause I feel like mine's is an unorganized mess.

Ugh, been busy lately so I haven't been able to play much. Managed to get a few fates in today. Hopefully I'll be able to tackle Stone Vigil this weekend.

just found out about these infos regarding world transfer...

gil limit
transferring from legacy to new server isn't allowed yet during the start of the world transfer service (which should be next week or the week after next latest), but new to new, legacy to legacy, new to legacy is allowed

Buy stuff on market on old server (like the philosophy items) and sell on new server

problem solved

Old Server items cost more, so why on earth would you buy a 60,000+ item, when it only sells for 45,000+ on new servers

Take a 15K hit per...

because you're restricted from bringing more gil anyways if you hit the limit?

is 15k per item more than negative gil getting transfered

Popping my face in here for the first time in god-knows how long (since we put the OT up?), so Hi!

We, J-gaf/misc are looking for some members to join us for progression through end-game content on Durandal (JP/Legacy) server. As the server shifts are starting soon I thought it'd be a grand opportunity to put this on Gaf as well.

We're looking for people who above all can identify with our goals as players, are respectful towards others and can fit in our tight knit group. We are made up of people mostly living in Japan/Oceania/Asia and because of this we expect to raid from 22:00 PST each Saturday and Sunday.

You can get in touch here: http://nocturne.guildwork.com/ - Looking forward to anyone interested!

W00t. Beat Praetorium tonight! Unlocked AK, WP, and Ifrit Hard along with the relic quest.

Guess I'll try some of it tomorrow night.

Welcome to end game

Now enjoy your 8 weekly AK runs, Enough CM's to make you realize there's a reason people ask to skip CS when it's your 40th time through (I mean you need to run CM 50+ times just to get one class to full DL, and the another 9 just to get the Relic item) maybe 1-2 WP in a month for shits n' giggles and the eventual "WE DON'T HAVE A BLM OR SMN, FUCK THIS I'M OUT!" Ifrit HM, hopefully your weapon drops sooner rather than later.... then comes Garuda HM, Godspeed... then Titan HM, you will get an ulcer guaranteed

If you want to do speed runs with geared people then why do CM? Should do Praetorium instead.

There's no need for CM at all when Prae exists imo. CM is tedious and dull whereas Prae is a bunch of bosses. Also less worrying about poor players aggroing all the time. Problem is runs with most people in AF last like 35-50 minutes from my experience and that's just not really acceptable for multiple runs.

That said, I've noticed a bunch of (obviously bought) relic users that love to eat red circles on the floor and die a whole bunch. You can pay 250k for Titan but you can't buy skill :)

I'm about to reset my attributes for pally. Thinking of going mostly vitality and a little strength. Does that seem appropriate for my job?

Whining about grinding in an MMO sounds silly. You can go to any dungeon but the game is still the same game – if you enjoy the core gameplay then it shouldn't matter how quickly you get your tomes or upgrade the numbers on your gear because the mechanics of how you play are never going to change unless they start bringing in gear that can modify your play style.

There is monotony in doing the same thing over and over, which is why it's important that you enjoy your routine to a degree on every attempt. If grinding is really miserable for you then I would suggest simply finding a new game to play so you're not just wasting your time doing something you hate.

I managed to get my THM weapon from Ifrit HM today, but I'm curious as to whether that's enough to run AK. I really want to since that's the fastest/optimum way to further gear myself up, but I'm unsure whether my current gear matches up to it or not.

I'm outfitted in full AF gear along with the Darklight Belt of Casting. My other items range in level between 39-49, those being my rings/neck and shield [which is Level 49].

I've looked at videos of the fights and they seem simple enough aside from the second which is supposedly a gear check. I don't want to hold my group back so I haven't joined an AK group yet, but attempting to earn enough Tomes by running Aurum Vale/Wanderer's Palace is really starting to grate on me. :(

Got my third crafting profession to level 50. Just a HQ weaver's gibus and militia spinning wheel away from completing my crafting AF set.

Most likely going to level blacksmith to 15 tomorrow to get ingenuity, then start pumping out vanya gear for myself.

Y'know, right now, I'm no longer interested in the PvE content of this game. The crafting is just too addictive. I think it will do me good to pace myself and level crafts in a self-sufficient way... even if I wind up getting roadblocked and having to level up other crafts in the meantime (and gathering), I'll be steadily gaining gil instead of getting slammed for 400k+ like I was getting ARM to 50.

I regret that I didn't do Blacksmith first, since that would have been so useful for every other craft. I maxed ARM first, so I suppose the logical thing would be to do CUL and ALC since I can make their main-hand tools.

Ugh... I guess I'll focus on leveling other classes / crafts when I finish the story.
Hopefully by the time I get bored with everything else they have implemented ways for more casual players to sidestep the mindless grind that currently calls itself endgame.

Finally got culinarian and alchemist to 15. Now I just need leatherworker and carpenter 15 before I can finally get down to business with weaver. (._. )

Waste Not II from Leatherworker lv 50 was the game-changer for me for just about all my crafting classes.

Or how about finding a nice, little Free Company and progress together / actually enjoy all this content with a nice group of people, rather than trying to DF it? :p

I know people will loathe the endgame when you put it like that, but seriously, so far I've done only CM/AK runs with my FC and it's a blast when you can have a little fun in the side rather than worrying about the current batch of people from the DF.

Theres a difference between typical end-game grind (and really while its fine to acknowledge that its common thats hardly an "excuse" for the transparent time wasting its designed to be) and having to do literally the same dungeon 60+ times. Theres plenty of enjoyable middleground between "No Grind" and what we have now. 2.1 is going to alleviate it a bit but more variety would be nice and complaining about the lack of it shouldnt get swept under the rug because "thats the way it is".

Yep, me. Just be careful of which info sites you're hitting and use a token if you can.

When you say 'be careful' do you mean just don't go to untrusted sites or are people logging in on some data sites? If so how do I tell which to avoid?

I'm using a token but I am still worried about keyloggers and such pinching banking details and whatnot.

I have the CE so I do have a token, just didn't think I'd have to use it so soon...ah well, I didn't expect ARR to be this popular either.

I'm really interested to see how exactly what will be in 2.1 in terms of rewards. Will dailies offer additional ways to gear up? Will hard mode dungeons offer gear options? S on and so forth.

I pretty love much everything about this game except the WoW-like progression system @ 50. I just can't jive with it. So, I'm looking for more options. Everything is still super early but as it stands, I simply find myself lacking the desire to "gear up" in the fashion presented currently. I could level every job in this game to 50, but after that, that's the end for me unless things open up a bit.

Yesterday I tried HM Titan for the first time....Ugh.

Im only lacking the Garuda weapon but hell, even farm parties cant beat her, so I went straight up with the Ifrit wep.

You are running with the wrong farm parties then, it's basically the easiest of the end game fights so far. It's all just gimmicks and positioning.

It's painful, I spent the last 2 weeks farming garuda via duty finder. I would say the same thing at the start of each fight 'does anyone need tips or are we good to go?' and this would encourage the newbies to identify themselves and ask about specific parts of the battle. You get the occasional dragoon wearing lvl45 white gear (with lvl 30 accessories) and you are doomed to fail, but every other time a little patience and providing help and support to other players you can win with just about any party.

I did 10 successful duty finder runs of garuda today, only wiped 4 times in total. Each group took a while to find it's sweet spot and then with my consistent tanking and some good healers we'd pull through.

:D and the best part is on the last attempt I finally saw my first pld weapon drop and I was the only PLD, that was my #1 fear. To see the PLD weapon drop and lose it to a higher roll. I swear 80% of all drops were the smn/acn Garuda's Will book... it was so frustrating seeing that appear again and again, I even have one despite not having leveled acn past 1. But on the plus side the Myth and Philosophy tomes add up saving me from a couple runs of AK.

finally, both pld and war at 50 :D
warrior took forever since I'd just fate grind and dungeon occasionally, but the lvl49 fates weren't so bad with the chains and 50k chimera boss.

Maybe I'll take a break now, or mess around on conjurer.

I have done Castrum in 20-25 minutes very easily with a competent group, that is hard to happen with Prae
