Fighting Games Weekly | Sept 30 - Oct 6 | Hard Knockdown Life

StackOverflow is awesome. I believe catalyst even has a neogaf account so it's possible for him to connect with us on this topic if he really wants

I have the same username there, and many of the things I learned there (as a diamond mod and user) I tried to incorporate into sf4a, and will ultimately try to apply to One Frame Link where applicable.

If you have any issues on SO, shoot me a message and I can try and get it sorted out.

Unfortunately, it's still the best, most frequent source for fighting game news, it's just plagued with also being the best, most frequent source for non-news.

Most frequent? As in most frequently updated?

Because I like numbers, here's a plot of the activity of Eventhubs, Shoryuken and IPlayWinner over the past month (if you want other months, then just ask, more than a month looks very cluttered):

Of course, this speaks nothing to the quality of the articles, that's a subjective determination based on the people reading them.

I'll probably pretty this up and put it on the site, just for kicks. It should be accurate within the last five minutes that the page is loaded.

I wasn't asking for an examination of each site's activity, just a clarification of the wording he used. I'm well-aware, thanks!

Enzo made a claim that it's the most frequently updated. You didn't make a claim, but figured it would be relevant to you. You know SRKs post numbers, but you don't know EH's numbers every day unless you count them (which is tedious), or historically (unless you're storing them, which you might be doing, but I am).

When people use terms such as "most frequently", that's subjective (which is what enzo did). I look at that and say "I can remove the subjective aspects of the question/answer by doing this", the result of which is what you see.

It wasn't meant to refute anyone, just to put the data out there. I take the viewpoint that the data tells the truth in some cases better than anything else, and was just trying to shed some light on the statement raised.

The Stack Overflow model doesn't work for all sites and one of Jeff Atwood's major flaws is him trying to enforce the paradigm on places that don't need it or are hurt by it. The other flaw is him thinking that technology should be the sole method to solve policy issues, but that's a different topic.

You know I really dont understand all the commotion about this Eventhubs stuff.
You disable adblock for the twitch streams you want to support and feel like you're doing the right thing, but you wont do the same for a website.

I feel like this is just part of the bad rap that eventhubs gets which isn't really even their fault, it's the communities fault.

I've never seen a full screen ad on eventhubs and I disabled adblock as soon as the first popover came up requesting we disable it.

IPW is pretty cool they stream and stuff.
;)

It's the whole forcing of the issue I feel. A nag screen with a donation link that you can close should have been it. Especially since most people can get news elsewhere and don't feel the exclusive Eventhubs stuff is worth it.
It's a problem most web devs with successful sites go through but it's the first time I heard of them locking out ad block users completely from content.

@EvilMrWizard: Tweet me your perfect lineup for Evo 2014! ( 6 games or less) #Evo2014

I put USF4, UMvC3, Injustice, Smash, BBCP and TTT2. I should of replaced TTT2 with KOF13 though

LMAO @ that Superman glitch. You just can't keep this guy down!

Damn only 6?

Perfect line up: USF4, UMVC3, Injustice, TTT2, KOF13, BBCP

More likely line up: USF4, UMVC3, Injustice, Melee, Killer Instinct, BBCP

too many games for just six spots. I would say usf4, umvc3, kof13, cp/xrd/+r (depending on whats out), smash, and then a toss up b/w injustice or ttt2. Maybe ttt2

Yeah, that's my exact lineup (with KOF instead of TTT2.)

Xrd is unlikely to be out in the US by EVO.

USFIV, UMvC3, Injustice, Smash for WiiU, KOFXIII and Killer Instinct

I put USF4/Marvel/DOA5/Injustice/BBCP/Skullgirls

Not the 6 games I'd pick, but the 6 that should be picked

USF4/Marvel- obvious
DOA5- the most active 3D fighter at the moment
Injustice- still popular
BBCP- the latest Arc game released in the US should get in at Evo. I'd rather see P4C, but don't think that will be out
Skullgirls- deserves a chance to be official Evo game one time to see what happens.

Actually I would honestly give my nod to DOA5 over TTT2 at this point. I think DOA5 needs an EVO spot.

It's silly to put KI on wishlists, imo, only because we know that it's getting in there whether we want it to or not.
It's silly to put USF4, Injustice and UMVC3 there as well.

I really hope it isn't just 6 games though.

One thing I like about DOA is how informative the commentators are, I watched some DOA at TFC and the commentators were spot-on. They provided tons of information very coherently while still maintaining a good idea was what's going on screen, all the while being extremely hype. It goes to show how much they love their game.

Ultra SF4
Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3
Injustice (version 1.93 which is released Thursday, July 10th, 2014)
King of Fighters 13
Persona 4 Arena
Super Turbo

As old as I am, I can't get enough Super Turbo action, it brings out everyone and is still hype to watch so many years later. I could even go so far as to say MvC2 after the hype we saw at the exhibition we threw at ECT5.
