Man EDF is tempting, but as a bit of a trophy whore man does that game look like it would take hundreds of hours... It was hard enough to complete once on the hardest difficulty on my 360.
That's a good thing.
If you're motivated to get trophies.
And getting the trophies takes awhile.
Then you're getting unbelievable value per $.
Hell, I'm over 70 hours on Dragon's Crown now and I have a bit to go still to get that platinum. (Amazon is pretty cool by the way... love me some glass cannons...)

Understand it seems a good thing, but I also have a heap of other games I could probably be playing instead rather than grinding the same content over and over.
I don't mind a bit of grinding, but playing the entire campaign over and over again seems a tad excessive.

Depends on if it's a different campaign and how much you like the game, I suppose.
I like DMC3 a lot. I played it at least once with Dante and then immediately after again with Vergil. Why? Because Vergil played different than Dante and I liked the game.
I like Dragon's Crown a lot. I've now completed it with 3 characters and a total of at least 5 playthroughts (3 sorceress, 1 fighter, 1 dwarf) and am now working on 6. Why don't I think it's boring or repetitive? Because I like the gameplay and the characters are different.
Now if you look at something like... Shadows of the Damned (fuck that game)... where the game is the same game on easy, normal, and hard and yet you have to play through it 3 full times because the difficulties don't stack? That's some bullshit. But this shouldn't affect anything unless you're actually targetting the platinum.
As far as "trophy hunting", I can understand it... (go look at my PSN profile if you need proof.) However, the "I need to 100% a game or I can't play it" attitude I can't make sense of (and I have, at the very least, some OCD tendencies).

Yeah it's something I need to work on a bit, but it's also an attitude that means I stick with a game till I finish it rather than just jumping between games and never completing anything.
Don't get me wrong I know the game is excellent because I've finished it on 360, I'm just not sure how much I want to grind it over and over.
I think I read on PSN trophies that the difficulty trophies don't stack for EDF. Does anybody know if that's the case? If so you need to play each difficulty on each character. That's a lot of grinding.

Could be... I think that is the case -- but I would assume you can just do mop up in some instances once you unlock the powerful weapons? I think you have to grind a lot to get some of those anyway for the 100% unlocks...
And don't get me wrong -- I stick with a game too, until I feel I've done just about everything I feel like it. Look at me and Muramasa. I have about 83% of the trophies according to my Vita -- and it's because I currently have no interest in the timesink/frustration of completing the game another 2 times on Fury mode. Usually if a game has a platinum and I'm going for it, I stick with it if I'm having fun and complete it... but in those rare cases like Muramasa (or something like Dead Space 2, where hardcore difficulty was a heart attack in a box everytime I tried it), I usually put the game down at some point and say "someday, maybe, I'll come back and finish that." Hell, Vanquish on PS3 is just waiting for me to finish Challenge 6, but... it was so ridiculous in difficulty that I wanted to go play other things so that I would have fun instead of spending my time being infuriated.
Yeah, the characters are nice. But the gameplay that surround it is, well, to be frank, not really that good and can be rather tedious at times.
Vita.... yeah, I haven't had any time to play it. Practically nearly all of my gaming time right now is consumed by Diablo 3.. with an occasional sprinkle of GTA V every now and then.
As for my 1st Vita, I am not comfortable selling it to anyone else considering I just don't know when it will misbehave again. It feels like.... I am tricking someone if I sell it while knowing that it has problems that may flare up again in the immediate future..... my conscious just can't take it.
Man, just sell it to GameStop. They have a warranty for free that covers if it's broken in its first year. The worst that can happen is that they have to give them another Vita. And I don't think you are going to feel bad if a big company losts some money, right?
P4G blows FFX out of the water. Then again, I think FFX is terribad.
Seriously, I hadn't played a JRPG since FFXIII -- and this was a great experience. Get P4G... and get EDF too.
We definitely... have different tastes. For me FFXIII is a game that take any flaw FFX has and ad a 3x multiplier to the formula. And with a messy story and a world with much less charm that Spira.
You're still in my "cool bros" list. People has different tastes, and I have to stand it even if they are terribly wrong...

Does Dragon's Crown have any surreal trophies like reach level 99 with every character or something? A friend want to play it with my until we both get the platinum.
Speaking of P4 Golden. I went to three stores this afternoon. One had it second hand only, and I refused to buy it (a niche publisher like Atlus deserves my money, and more if the games are as awesome as SMT). The other didn't have it (and Vita bundles were at bomba prices: 170) and the last have 1 copy for 42...
I'm going to look into the store I usually buy tomorrow in the morning, probably. Or in two days. But this weekend I want Persona 4 in my veins.
The game is undoubtely worth 42 euros, but i'm not going to support a store that overprice almost every games in its shelves (i run away seeing 2+ years old games at 50-60 euros)
42 isn't actually that overpriced from my experience. It's expensive pretty much everywhere. I think your best bet would be ordering from Amazon though. Amazon Germany has the PAL version for 38.73 and the US Import for 27.99. Only two copies left though!
Eh, it's not too bad, although waking up at 5am is killing me
My bus to University has power outlets and free wifi, so I typically just use the time to catch up with the internet, and things will be a lot easier once I pass my driving test
Gonna start P4G by the looks of it, I played a bit of the PS2 version a while ago, and enjoyed it before shelving it and buying Golden

Just kidding

Final Fantasy XIII, for me, had 3x the likeable characters, had an AMAZING battle system, and deviated from the "walk in a line for the entire game" forumla that FFX introduced after about 20 hours.
I loved that game. I spent 120 hours or so and got that platinum.
I may give FFX HD a shot... because I did like the sphere grid (which FFXIII kept, sort of, as well), and I did like the battle system. That said, I will never like the characters (other than Lulu... I wanted to like Tidus... but no), I will always loathe the story and lack of exploration, and I will always hate it's stupid minigames (and other random activities) -- especially Blitzball.
As far as Dragon's Crown goes, yes, there's a get a character to level 99 trophy -- but only the last... 10 levels or so are kind of a grind. It's a bit of a chore (there's a reason I'm at 70+ hours).
Level 99 with 1 character (on the way to this you can knock out a bunch of other harder trophies, like the chain 9 stages back to back, get 5000000 score in one run, finish floor 9 of the Labyrinth, beat all 3 difficulties, speed kill the final boss on all 3 difficulties).
The most intensive/annoying ones had to do with the eating mini game that occurs after 3 of the stages. You need a good group of people together to get the 50k score on it (it's possible solo according to guides, but I couldn't get it). And then you need to make sure you eat every food there is (there are 70, including hidden foods)... you can knock that out in about 2 hours if you're focused on it and can do it while, again, grinding toward the 99.
I have everything done except: beat it with the amazon, beat it with the elf, beat it with the wizard, and complete the gallery (when I do the first 3, I'll get the 4th and then the platinum).

But yeah, if you enjoyed the PS2 version, you'll love Golden.
It's not just about the price. That store has games overpriced (I saw in 2012 Tales of Vesperia at 60 euros, lol) and i don't want to support that way of doing bussiness xD.

The characters were pretty meh to me, but the battle system was awesome once it clicked. I feel that the game tries with it to give the fast feeling some other genres have without completely destroying the turn based formula.
My main problem with the game (more than the fact is linear) was the story. It was not that bad, but it was the most awful paced thing I played in my live. They probably wanted to "keep" the mistery around the characters and their objective but failed misserably. Maybe i'm to picky because I want to be a writter, but I think that when you try to use flashbacks and that kind of resources in your story, you must be very, very careful. And you must give the information in a way people is always receiving little pieces of information and associating with what they know beforehand.
When the game opened and the story started to feel amazing and epic, I didn't have any interest in the game. I sold it, but i'll probably buy it again for cheap and play it in short bursts. Maybe I can complete it that way.
If you don't understand something, ask me. I still have some problems explaining that kind of stuff in English xD.

So what are we expecting for UK DC pricing? I'm hoping for £30, with a PS+ discount. Amazon have it for £35 (I'll probably wait at that price).
EDIT: Also looking forward to FFX and X-2. Played a good amount of X on the PS2 although I didn't complete it due to time issues. Frankly I wouldn't consider playing anything that requires that kind of time investment anywhere other than Vita any more. X is probably my second favourite FF after IX (although I haven't completed that either). Only FF game I've completed is VII.
Nah, it's a bit different. Felghana is closer to Ys in gameplay, Origins is different. Truth be told, its system is a little bit awkward and will take some time for you to get used to.

I meant re-evaluate what you think of me, not what you think of FFX.
You love it, I think it's one of the worst in the long line of the series and we can agree to disagree.

One character is ok. I want it to be my "play whenever I have a couple of time" game until Toukiden is released.
I can't take you seriously if you're going to praise FFX and then knock FFXIII for story. While I didn't really follow all the stuff going on in FFXIII, it had a more involving story than either FFX and FFXII for me. And considering what I thought of FFXIII's story, that should tell you something about FFX and FFXII.
For the record, Final Fantasy IV, VI, VII, VIII, IX are all great in my book though. People tend ot overrate VI and VII, but they're still remarkable.
And you can definitely do that -- I'll snap a pic of my character select screen in a minute here before I go to bed.
As far as DC goes? You're crazy.
Based on the US store, you're getting no discount whatsoever.
But if someone other than Atlus is publishing, you may get the standard 10% off, I think.
PS+ discount? I wouldn't hold my breath. Your PS+ is better, but it's not THAT good.
Agree completely on wanting games with high time commitment on the Vita... the pick up and play aspect helps tremendously in addition to the portability. It's the *only* reason I'm considering FFX and FFX-2 HD at all. If it didn't have a Vita port, Squeenix would never see a dime from me for it.
How much money would it take for you to say otherwise?
Honestly... Just wait, I enjoyed X-2 more than X. Maybe it's memories, maybe it's something else. But, I remember liking it more.
Sniper rifles, machine guns, grenade launchers, granades, homing missile launchers, rocket launchers, and special weapons. There are 150 weapons in total I believe.
I meant re-evaluate what you think of me, not what you think of FFX.

Out of all the FFs, FFIV is the one I dislike the most, followed immediately by FFXII.
Well... maybe 'dislike' is too strong of a word..... more like indifferent. Maybe it's because it appeared in so many goddamn versions for FFIV, and the 'stale' feeling of the story for FFXII.

I really like FFX-2 too, despite its problems.
In fact, FFX and FFX-2 are members of my very small list of "JRPGs I bother to actually pursue 100% for."
....Though admittedly, chocobo racing and butterfly chasing in FFX left a huge scar in both my mind and soul >______>
How big is the game? I only have around 2 GB left in my MC :\
I've played and beaten every solo final fantasy main entry save for Final Fantasy V (and I guess FFX-2 and FFXIII-2 but those are sort of secondary) including MQ. Out of those, Final Fantasy II, Final Fantasy V, Final Fantasy X, and Final Fantasy XII are at the bottom of my list.
Funny, Final Fantasy IV is my favorite, followed by FFVIII, I think.
I don't think the Vita version of Angry Birds Star Wars is getting a EU release. Physical, anyway. No retailers have the Vita version listed. It might show up on PSN though? Vita is doomed.

I'm not saying FFX is a masterpiece of storytelling. Seymour was annoying, anybody needed to fight him 4 times. The first was good, the second was... "ok, Tidus is a jerk and need some pressure to go for Yuna". The other two were more like "seriously?". There are other problems (Wakka is meh, Rikku was underdeveloped in X because LTTP and who is Khimari?), but Auron is awesome, Yuna is a pretty solid character and i didn't found Tidus as annoying as other people. I really liked the love story between the latter two and the ending. The dream thing was a cool idea but it needed a better explanation.
My problem in XIII is not the story itself, it's pacing and structure. X is more like a straightforward although and introduces new info in a better way. And Fabula Nova Cristalis seemed an awesome universe.
Still, my favorite FF so far is VIII (can you take me seriously again? xD). I've played III (DS), VII, VIII, X, X-2, XII and XIII. I was too young to play 8/16bit games. Though I want to use my Vita to play them all.
And I didn't really like XII, but I think that was probably because it was a really weird JRPG. Vaan was a pretty weak character and a mere observer almost the whole game. It lacked something. The story was to much about politics and was more grounded than most JRPGs, what bugged a lot of people (me included). Still, I (now) think its world design was a step forward in the genre and the route FF games should have followed. And open (or almost open) world with a linear story but lot of freedom and sidequests to do, and without transitions between field and battles (it could still be turn based, but technology is good enough to use the same models and backgrounds the whole game).
FFXV seems a new approach to that way of thinking, although I found sad that it plays like Kingdom Hearts.
Maybe one of the biggest knocks I can give toward FFX is the fact that even his so-called friends, his father, his mentor, and the goddamn love of his life never refers to Tidus with his name Just you, him, or he. So bloody silly
But of course, they have to "ruin" it with stories about magical overlords screwing around with fates. Ahhh if only they just stuck with political stuff.... (my same disappointment with FFT)
Just finished my first run through of the missions yesterday. Plays and feels just like the 360 version did. Performance is fine with similar slowdown to the 360, and it still looks great to me. Definitely recommended if you're an EDF fan

I was fourteen or so back then. Didn't really appreciate it. I think I would probably like it a lot more if I had a chance of replaying it. Like a HD remaster. I think I have somewhere my retail copy, but I don't want to look for it xD.
I never owned a PSP and am looking to get some of dat JRPG/ARPG goodness on my Vita. So far I'm absolutely set on getting:
Dissidia 012
VC2
On the edges of my radar are Tactics Ogre, FFT WotL, Gungnir, Knights in the Nightmare, Jeanne d'Arc.
Anything else I'm missing? I heard that the Ys franchise (never had any exposure to it) is very good and has a new game coming up, any of the PSP iterations worth getting? I'm planning on holding out until the end of spend50/get10 then getting them all in one go since I'm hurting in terms of memory card space.
I consider ys7 the best one and the closer to ys celceta, i don't even consider ys oath a rpg, it's more like an action with leveling up but with a lot of (annoying)grinding near the end.
I suggest zhp, a must buy crazy superhero themed dungeon crawler with demential characters that focuses on equipment and customization.
Another rpg i liked is xmen legends 2, but i don't know if it's on the store.
I liked generation of chaos, it had lots of problems but it was really addictive, when in offer i'll surely buy its sequels, aedis eclipse and pandora reflection.
I did not enjoy half minute hero, but i'm probably the only one...
Other games i didn't play but that should be good are:
Persona 1-3
mana khemia
trails in the sky
breath of fire 3
cladun x2
disgaea 1-3(3 is for vita)
eliminage
class of heroes 2
and many more...
Don't buy ff 1-4 if you have no nostalgia attached, they are too old to be good imo.

No one knows. It's officially called the "Acessory Port" but there's no accessory that uses it, and there likely never will. The slot is removed from the Vita 2000 models.
Was reading about OLED displays in general and come across few downsides of the technology.
First was the "mura" effect, which on my Vita isn't that much of an issue. Saw the spots while playing Stealth inc last night in a dark room, but there are only few spots in the upper left and lower right corners on the screen. Kinda freaked me out, until I googled and found out it was "normal". ^^
While on the "mura" effect, there are few threads (one here, in gaf actually) about burn-ins on the display. Because this is my first device with OLED screen and I've never had plasma displays, can someone give me some advices on how to prevent such burn-ins. I know not to have static image for long periods of time, but other things like should brightness be all the way down/up, color of the background etc. Heard that the blue color is also problematic due to shorter lifespan, and everything (by default) in the vita is blue - the background, the icons, the buttons, even the psn. Kinda scary.
